Sorry to ask on the map, but isn't in the Badakhshan region also spoken Pamirian languages and in the east Kyrghyz?
Also aren't there uzbek, turkmen and baloch areas in Afghanistan?

I think Hindkos are much more closer culturally and linguistically to Punjabis, but what do I know?

Not all hindko speakers are Pashtuns. 95%are Pashtuns in a tribal sense but other hindko people are jats, gujjars, Rajput or come from tribes of Arab origin. Yes, there is are some Pashtun tribes, like A few karlans that claims to be Arabs, but it seems relatively tiny, and many are Shia Muslims.there are Hindko tribes that are Alvi or children or Ali, so they're not Pashtun if they are father line Descendants of Ali.
