      lol
You're the one paying so much attention - I don't even notice such things (and they are NOT me)

My partners enjoy having something to hold on to.

      Adios

            • Interesting post. It went from informative to hilarious.
Anyways i find it interesting because im a khattak from nizampur and altho we for the most part have the northern dialect and change up a few worlds to sheen(wishta, pshey) and zh(khwazhizhi, muzh) it also has this karlanri type of grammar(donno if its the right word here) like da ma or e ma instead of zma for example.
Whats weird is that nearby there is another village(where my grandfather was from) and that villages' dialect sounds alot like the dialects of khyber, orakzai and hangu.

I didn't know there were Bangash in KP too. I thought they were mostly in Kurram.

I forgot Khattak was Karlani lol. Their Pashto is close to "standard" right?

I've never heard some of those, but Orbala is from sarhad, so that may explain why.

but Meerata sounds like its saying husbands or maniliness because Merah means husband and its also used for manhood like "merahtob"
Someone needs to tell the author that "dawusa" and "dala" don't mean "coward" LOL.

My dialect is most kheen/ge, but like you we still pronounce a few words with a sheen. But, I'm not sure if that's due to influence from Farsi or an archaism. I was really surprised to find out kheen dialects pronounce those words that way actually (words like shisha/khikha and kooshash/kookhakh).

Do you guys pronounce the vowels the "standard" way?

Well there is a slight difference with the vowels but nothing significant. One that i can think of is weyrka and weyley instead of warka and walay but then again i have some khogianiwal friends here and they also pronounce it like that so idk. But yeah its very slight but it depends on the village cuz like i said one village will sound totally northern standard and then the next will sound like they are from khyber.

Ok, I guess it's not as significant as in our dialect. Our vowels are generally "heavier" than most Pashto.

I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I guess it sounds kinda similar to Farsi vowels. Like پلار is pronounce more like "plor" than "plar." We also elongate final vowels a lot. So دښمن is pronounced "dikhmaan" instead of "dukhman" or "dushman."

                      Shisha/Khikha is glass.

                      kooshash/kookhakh is effort.

I have never heard Kokhakh or khikha, this is the first time!!

P.S. I would pronounce them as 'Koshish' and 'Shisha'

First time I heard them was on Afghan news. I had no idea that anyone pronounced them like that, but I looked them up and, sure enough, the spelling in Pashto is with the Pashto kheen/sheen instead of Arabic sheen.

They sound funny pronounced that way though lol.
