pashtuns and non pashtuns probably get along better than pashtun and pashtun at this point. the problem is nations kicking a man(pashtuns) when they are down and not allowing them to get back on their feet.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

How many times did the British use Afghans to kill Afghans? how many times did the mughals use Afghans to kill Afghans, how many times have Americans used Afghans to kill Afghans, and how many times has Pakistan used Afghans to kill Afghans?Originally posted by R3SISTANC3 View PostI think this was an interesting read and you made many valid points. Yet there were no stingers used against the British. Here is the thing....you have to separate the natural inherited virtue of resistance of the Afghan people against foreigners from the politics. At the moment your article reads as if the Afghans/Pashtuns were celebrating the arrival of occupying armies however outsiders forced them, these simple, naive, gullible people were tricked into defending their heritage and sovereignty. That I don't agree with neither the history of Pashtuns/Afghan.
Afghanistan have been invaded and occupied many times, throughout the ages, Afghans are not untouchable nor undefeatable, its the land that sucks the occupier in, not the people.
Alexander conquered Kandahar very easily, so did the Arabs, the Persians under Darius, the Mongols too, they occupied Afghanistan very easily, turned the inhabitants into slaves, and the only reason why they fled was because of the bickering between their leaders, the turks, the British, and Pakistan, the Pakistanis were clever, they used Afghans as proxies to do their dirty work. Look at how the British divided the Pashtuns very easily! all they had to do was pay a king to keep his mouth shut, and millions was Pashtuns were divided, even at present, you do know, that whole groups of Talib fighters are slaughtered in the 100s, thats not an victory nor an acheivement, we live in a different world, due to Pakistans borders, American nor Nato can enter them as ground units, otherwise, those would have finished the Taliban long time ago, it took them only two weeks from air attacks, and the Taliban were overthrown, it was not hard at all for them! We are not invisible, we are beaten in Pakistan with sticks, MQM slaughter our people very openly, where is our warriors or fighters as you guys like to boast about, throughout Pashtun history, every resistance has led to inner fighting, and most of the time, Afghan kills Afghan!
Look at the wars between the Durranis and Ghilzais? how many times have they fought eachother, or what about Khushal Khan Khattaks wars with the yousufzai? we are merely just proxies of other people and ourselves, we have never been a strong diginfied nation, but a society of tribalists. this has to change!
BMX is a child, he thinks Pakistan had no role in the Soviet war, as if all those tunnels, and arms depos were sent by god himself and grown on trees.
Our people know only to fight, thats all, they never use their brains, and spend most of the time killing their own tribal rivals or their own family members.
Pakistan doesnt really need to do anything, all it did, was Al-qaidafy Afghan society, scaremongered them with lies of Afghan women wearing skirts, and how Islam is loosing ground in Afghanistan, armed and protected a few social rejects, allowed the yanks to meddled in Afghanistan through their soil, and Walah, you have Afghanistan under your thumb.
I am just being honest! our own people are the main problem, take the case of king amnaullah, who went against him, who was shami pir, who funded this?Last edited by Soldat_Amir; 10-27-2011, 04:22 AM.

Here is the definition of:
con·quer
1. to acquire by force of arms; win in war: to conquer a foreign land.
2. to overcome by force; subdue: to conquer an enemy.
3. to gain, win, or obtain by effort, personal appeal, etc.: conquer the hearts of his audience.
4. to gain a victory over; surmount; master; overcome: to conquer disease and poverty; to conquer one's fear.
The British, Arabs, Persians, Russians, Alexander, never won the land. So 1 doesn't apply.
The British, Arabs, Persians, Russians, Alexander, never subdued the native people. So 2 doesn't apply.
The British, Arabs, Persians, Russians, Alexander, never conquered the hearts or minds of the natives. So 3 doesn't apply. Islam wasn't spread by Arabs in the region. That's another subject.
The British, Arabs, Persians, Russians, Alexander, never became the masters of the natives of Afghanistan. So 4 doesn't apply.
It seems that you have read too many orientalist/Western books about the historical details surrounding the events of your people. It is in their interest to paint a pathetic image of the resistance to them. Don't be a conformist or defeatist otherwise you'll one day hate yourself for who you are. This is why you state now that the problem is "your people". Not those who want to pillage subjugate them.

Fortunately, ground-realities differ. If you ever visit the south or north, you will not find Tajiks, Uzbeks or Pashtuns at each others throats with knifes. Yes, discrimination does occur, the same way it might occur in Winnipeg. However, one thing which is obvious is that Afghanistan's neighboring countries is very hard at work for creating propaganda, that may cause further rift and instability.Originally posted by Talal View Postto be honest as far as the future of Afghanistan is concerned right now..the biggest threat is the ongoing fued between the Pashtun and non-pashtun minority.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

actually i wasn't referring to people-to-people connections..i have no idea about those since i would practically have to be in those place to see it..My point was regarding the two main institutions that the entire country would be counting on to run it. You would be surprised to see the absolute lack of pashtun commanders and armed soldiers in the ANA and thats where the problem is, and not just that even among the Durranis and Ghilzai's there is a issue regarding power brokerage inside kabul among old fuedsOriginally posted by Admin Khan View PostFortunately, ground-realities differ. and despite the numbers they are churning out, ANA has serious issues in terms of training, retention, discipline, corruption and a whole host of other factorsLast edited by Talal; 10-28-2011, 01:19 AM.It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

Well, where shall I start?Originally posted by Darweshkhel View PostPlease elaborate that.
According to Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eye By Tamim Ansary page 11 Kandahar was originally called "Iskandar" which is how "Alexander" was pronounced in the east, but the "Is" dropped away and "Kandar" softened to "Kandahar". Alexander himself took most of Afghanistan with out any problems.
Herat alone was totally eradicated by the Mongols, even though Herat was the very first to surrender before the Mongols entered the region, they say it took seven days for the whole of Herat to be eradicated by the Mongols.
The British entered Afghanistan easily, and invaded twice, and successfully divided the Pashtuns from Afghanistan and brought them into British India, to this day, that line is still in effect. I didnt see any major victory from the British a large scale, the British fled, because there was nothing there for them to use against the Russians, as bickering tribes brought no value to their intentions.
Its not the people who bring empires down in Afghanistan, its the region, and the unstability, look at how the Durrani empire broke down, this a problem we must accept and face to resolve.
For people to say Afghans are untouchable, undefeatble and un-invadable, is mere nonsense, take this example, would ever see a German Citizen in Pakistan being hit with a stick to wait in line for a packet of rice? No you wouldnt, because Germany is a strong nation and would respond, but we Pashtuns get hit everywhere we go, spat on, and insulted.
My point is not that Afghans are brave fighters, but the fact is, we never speak of the truth and ground realities, our society is plagued with backwardness, women have no rights and dont deny that, we spend most of our time, fighting eachother due to tribalism and land.

Alexander had such a hard time in afghanistan that his troops were so exhausted, they refused to move on and Alexander had a mutany on his hands. He wrote a letter to his mom and professed that "you have bore one Alexander, but I am in a land full of Alexanders."
the first time he was ever injured in battle was in Kunar.Last edited by khushal; 10-28-2011, 11:21 AM.

Hi
I joined because of this article. Many things you have stated are true but over all it seems to be that you are scapegoating Pakistan for the ignorance of your own Pathan people. Pakistan and Pakistanis will look out for their interest there is nothing personal. Pathans choose live in the 7th century and refuse to move forward. I see you have admitted that your people have major problems one being very religiously conservative arrogant stubborn people with no idea how far the world has come along. My personal interaction with Pathans have been that they are simple people very easily get emotional. I have been reading his forum and dont see any Pakistani supporting Taliban here all of them are Pathans so why blame Pakistan? Pakistan only supported Taliban because Pathans support them which is the truth. Pakistan will support anyone that is supported by Pathans if Karzai or Awami National people. Just like now Pakistan is supporting Awami National party.
