Khushal Khan Khattak isn't the only one amongst Pashtuns who have had alignment with foreign Muslims based on Islamic Orthodoxy

Mir Wais Khan Hotak went to Makkah to seek the Scholars of Makkah's guidance on overthrowing the Safawid rulership and to join in alegience with the Ottoman Empire.

Historical evidence shows, your secular approach is the abberation and an Islamic Centered ideology, was he norm amongst Pashtuns prior to Imperialism. which means there is a possible link between servitude to European Imperialists and secularism in Pashtun society

In fact, Khushal Khan's work proves that whatever Pashtuns are, they are, by their societal nature, conservative.

Khushal Khan may have been willing to fight for localized autonomy, but he certainly would not comprimise orthodox Islam, no matter what level of adherence he held to it.
I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said, both in response to the general topic and regarding this article specifically. But I can say that this comical depiction of Pashtun society above sums up a lot. I find it honestly perplexing that, of all people on this planet, anyone believes that they could ever establish and maintain for any length of time any sort of leftist/socialist/communist/Leninst/Marxist/Russia worshipping/whatever label you want to give it regime to rule over Pashtuns. These sorts of ideologies are accepted in many places around the world but Afghans and especially Pashtuns are probably the last people on earth to embrace an ideology like that. I suspect that deep inside, people like the author know this and it only serves as motive to create and broadcast more and more propaganda pieces. In the old days, all around the world, commies relied on empty propaganda and biased agenda-based articles in their publications to promote their goals and win the naive to their side. Those days have ended though and Afghanistan is not going to be the next Democratic People's Republic of North Korea anytime soon. Nor does the author's chances of being the next Dear Leader seem very promising.

I find it strange a person who claims to be a barakzai, sat in America, claims to be married to a Wazira from Wana, speaks in a similar tone as the ISI when it comes to Taliban.

If you had sense at all, you would go to Waziristan, and see for yourself, the Pak army with the Mullah Nazeer, oh wait, thats a conspriacy too, your a joke and a waste of time. Plus may I ask, do you have any relations in Pakistan, you do resemble that ISI durrani character very well, are you related to him

You need to realize if he was an Afghan, he would never call himself that nick-name, he is trying hard to prove, just as HamidGul says he is ethnic Afghan (his forefathers come from Afghanistan, so his wife’s.) They just can’t brush aside the historically justified concerns of the traditionally victim people of Afghanistan who have a bitter memory of all the extreme sufferings brought upon them by these Mullah, by poking their head under the sand and sticking out their !

These people need to realize furthermore that they just can’t escape being held accountable for all the misdeeds and mischief they have indulged for the past 30 years and for all the sufferings, destruction, and miseries these zombies of evil have brought upon the people of Afghanistan, and upon the region.

If killing innocent people would be called “Jehad”. Places where you brainwash and militarize youngsters under the disguise of religion would be called “madrassa”. And all your love of god and relationship to god would be controlled and hijacked from foreign lands…then yea Afghans can easily become communist too…considering the right string are pulled. The PDPA zombies turned Afghanistan into dog fight of super powers. Years before soviet invasion CIA were popping their mullah dogs throw their ISI dogs.

Mozy back in over to Farsiwaan forums. Its ironic that you noted Mullahs stick their heads in the sand and that their peckers poke through the ground.

Why is it ironic? Khaak in traditional old school Pashto means sand, dust.
So by extension, the Mullah is sticking his head into Khaak and his fallus is poking through Khaak.

Edit: This is in reference to Mr. Khaak's homoerotic statement:
" by these Mullah, by poking their head under the sand and sticking out their !"

Khushal Khan Khattak was a true Pashtun conservative muslim.

he was friend with the mughuls and was int heir army untill the new mughul came to power who was nothign but corruption and did not represent Islam correctly.

If the new mughul king was in line with Islam than Khushal Khan Khattak would not fight him,so it was the corruption he saw in the new king which made him fight the mughuls.

remember the battle started after the mughul army men tried to molest a girl from the safi tribe of Kunar which became their anihilation.

these posters here are utterly disrespecting our elders by using them for their unholly agendas.

He speaks ill of Bacha Khan, and uses some Paki's sources to make Bacha Khan look Anti Afghan even though he was buried there, plus I feel he may have a other half who is Pakistani, and he needs to be honest about this, before he gets any respect from me. I know hes older then me and I do respect my elders, but he has a hidden motive, I can feel it, he does not want Pashtuns from both sides of the durrand line united, What irritates me more, if most of those in support of Sharia and Taliban, are living in the West, they have no clue whatsoever about current state of their own people in Afghanistan.

They never want to address the crimes, the Militant Mullah has committed upon the Pashtun people, they are traitors of the highest level! they sold out Afghanistan to the whole world!

What amazing me is, most of these poor kids, have no clue, whatsoever the state of Afghan/Pashtun society, they dont know what goes on at Madrassahs, the whole the brainwashing, selling of young kids to blow themselves up or fight in Kashmir, these issues to them mean nothing, they dont want to know.

They spread these rumors and false lies about Taliban being unbeatable, resistance fighters and winning the war, ignoring the fact, they hide in peoples homes and do hit and runs back to Pakistan thinking they are successful when in fact, the durrand line has protected them from a helicopter or unit of Nato forces.

Then we have all the nonsense about our people being untouchable. I have seen with my own eyes, Afghans booted and whipped with sugar canes in Islamabad. I have seen with my own eyes Waziristan IDP's slapped and kicked by DI Khan police forces, where is these unbeatbles? these untouchables? we are beaten even to stand straight in line to pick up our daily rations, what about the IDPs from Bajuer in Lahore, who have been attacked by Punjabis, food thrown on them, bribed etc?

                  Where is the untouchables?

What about the IDPS of Swat? everyone knows how they got treated?

What about the issue of renaming to Pakhtunkhwa? When Hindkomars, started burning ANP offices, attacking and burning the Pakhtunkhwa Flag, why did our people need to convince Non Pashtuns to give us this right?

Where are our untouchables, when the political agent in FATA decides to flatten peoples homes in regards to collectivement punisnment (FCR)????

These issues are washed away and replaced with the Militant Mullah.

Thats the point I am trying to put across but most people dont seem interested at all, they are quite happy being played for fools.
I never denied my mother derived form a KP tribe. She lived in Kabul during her youth in Wazir Akbar and that was how my father met hers (meaning her father). And yes, my significant other half is Wazir Ahmadzai of the ZaliKhel line, but her father does not support Taliban and has criticized them - he preferred Hekmetyaar, however he does not appreciate the drones over Wana obviously
