Ive got about three more I could share, and then Id have to start writing again ... something I have very little time for nowadays. You know what, I have to refer to my English Lit poetry analysis guides to discover the real meaning in your poem. And grab a dictionary too ... Keep them coming.
Oh my!! Mesbah! lol. C'mon now, marey, quit embarrassing me (<-- loveliness.)
Thanks, Jaan! Glad you liked it and think this highly of it, although you know it's nothing compared to your "The Day When Dust Became Your Bed"! That one's classic, girl! I read it to a friend who said, "Wow! So philosophical!"

Yeah, I've had to write more ... it's the BEST way for me to set aside the (more) important things, like homework/assignments/papers, lol, and take a short break every now and then, LOL.

Oh please! No need to be all that humble! Gosh! I don't wanna compliment you too much on it; then it feels like I'm just saying that to make you happy, and so it'll become meaningless! But I LOVE your poems, and I expect to read more

Why nooooooooooooot, SOM? C'mon, mara I mean, if they're supposed to be kept private and are meant for only certain audiences, that's understandable. But if it's just because *you* don't think they're good or something, I'm MORE than sure others will disagree with you on that. So do share -- at your convenience. I look forward to reading them!

        k, here's another one.
CAUTION: It may not appeal to the minds of many typical Muslims, but I don't expect any rudeness. If you MUST say something that's prohibited on this forum (rude remarks, etc.) and they're directed solely towards me, you may post them on my blog where this poem is also posted.
The link to that would be http://qrratugai.blogspot.com/2010/03/forbidden.html. *Constructive criticism* is ALWAYS appreciated.

Otherwise, just enjoy it in peace without pitying the speaker or praising yourself for being a better "Muslim."

        "Forbidden"

        I have dug inside me,
        A well – a deep, infinite well.
In it lives with me My God
The God of both women and men,
The God of the oppressed and the liberated,
The God of the cursed and the blessed

There with me, my feelings dwell,
Far from the fondness of human thought,
        Unwelcome elsewhere
The feelings I’m forbidden to relish,
The secrets I’m forbidden to reveal,
The questions I’m forbidden to raise,
The mistakes I’m commanded to regret,
But I don’t. For I have no regrets.
        Only mistakes to learn from.

        There, I speak the unspeakable
        I quarrel with My God,
And My God allows me this –
And there, I think the forbidden
And My God hears me, too,
        There, I demand answers,
And My God answers me, too,
My God hears the shattering of my voices
        And pacifies my frustrated nerves
There, I heave sighs suppressed elsewhere,
        And screams ignored elsewhere,
        But I must scream,
For the forbiddance of speaking has boiled my brain,
And the ludicrousness of the ulema (the“learned”) vexes me,
And the labels of heresy and blasphemy grieve my soul
But I must tell my stories.

        And I tell my God,
Why have you forbidden me these natural thoughts?
Why am I nothing but a dangerously seductive being who
        Incites sordid feelings in men?
You must forgive me, Dear God, for I mean no harm,
But you must permit me to ask –
Why do you objectify me when You created me Yourself?
        They tell me You’re all-powerful;
But then why did you make me the reason men behave so despicably
When they see my face, or my hair,
        Or my ankles,
        Or my eyes?

And My God smiles at me
        And tells me,
“Don’t confuse My guidelines with the orders of men.”
Just as the well starts to flood, and I
        Develop confidence and valor
And my spirit ascends the seventh heaven,
And my heart glows with peace
And my mind enfolds the universe

        I have become a woman.
        A woman at last.
And I’m going to tell my stories.

LOL, James! I'm not sure. You should be able to tell me what makes you think that, though.
Nonetheless, quite the contrary: I more than strongly believe in a God, and the more I write like that (like the poem above), the more my belief in this God strengthens.

lol ... wahhh... all I said about alcohol was exactly what the Quran says: it has benefits AND harms, but its harms overweight its benefits. This is supposed to be the typical belief among all Muslims since these are the exact words of the Quran (in verse 2:219).

But I think that also just means that, if you wanna REALLY understand Muslims, you need to hang out with more Muslims so you can see what their norms are in terms of Islam's praxis and its norms in terms of principles. I'm not a typical Muslim by any means (thank God), but there are a ton of other Muslims like me out there. You should also read up on Islam and study the views of some contemporary Muslim scholars of Islam to note how their thinking/opinions vary.

ANNND to get a better grasp of Muslims' practice of Islam, you should watch this film series called "Living Islam" documented by Akbar Ahmed. And don't forget to watch some dramas/movies from Muslim countries (like Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, etc. India would do as well since it has a ton of Muslims, and many of its actors are Muslims -- not to imply in any way that they represent all Muslims or even Islam as ONE religion, though; it just shows the variety of Muslims out there). That'll also give you a good understanding of Muslims' practices, meaning what they DO as opposed to what they CLAIM they *should* be doing, you know?

And don't tell me you have never, ever, ever seen a Muslim woman wearing jeans... :O that'd be like the most shocking thing in the world for me... well, okay, one of the most shocking things.

those that wear skinny jeans are dont really act Muslim like based on my encounters.
LOL @ "REAL practicing Muslim women" :D I mean, I know of a lot of Muslim women who classify themselves as "practicing Muslims" and they wear jeans -- many, many also wear a hijab with the jeans on. You've never seen that either?

So, yeah, what is a "REAL practicing Muslim woman"? And don't let that one community you know be the representative of the over a billion Muslims worldwide who exist, by the way. That can be dangerous in your perceptions of Muslims in general.

                  k, here's another one.

                  “Reign over Our Soul”

                  Rain, reign over my soul
Reign until my Beloved comes home to me
                  Tomorrow evening.
When you spray on the world a somnolent spell
                  And I’m all to myself,
                  Immersed in my Beloved’s thoughts
Riding on the wings of His Love
                  Rain, reign over my soul!
My Beloved’s come Home to me!
We sit hand-in-hand by the riverside,
As you remind us with each drop of yours
                  The infinite reasons we live
                  I’m his universe, he’s mine
Love belongs to us, we belong to love
                  God must be pleased, for
Two separate souls have become one entity
Two sane souls have fallen insanely in love
No distance, no space between our beating hearts
                  No boundaries observed
For the world runs on the wheels of love,
                  Yet love is forbidden –
                  But not upon us.
No fruit is forbidden, for everything belongs to us
No need to be dressed in innocence,
No need for leaves of shame to be worn,
                  Because we have become One
                  Our Love has been immortalized,
Whispered so by the sanctity of eternal night winds,
                  Reign over our hearts, Rain,
Cleanse it with your drops of passion
Life has awakened two dead souls,
Riveted in passionate longing for each other
Our Heart has at last found reasons to beat
Our Lips have at last found reasons to smile
                  Our souls have become one
                  All’s well with the world
For my Beloved has come to Me.
Let the rain keep reigning over Our Soul.
                  Let the rain keep reigning.

                      I wrote a poem

My heart bleeds, as i see my pashtun people suffer
our needs, are divided by a buffer
Our elders, children and women are killed
life gets rougher, our lives sold and billed
Armies battle us,the roof of our homes rattle us
the air gets thicker with smoke, as the missles start to choke
the backbone of our society is broke
European and Punjab Armies put our homes to sleep
Rubble and dust starts to creep
I say to myself,How can i rebuild my land
If i fire back, I am labelled and misunderstood
the home for which for centuries stood
has no shelter to stop the cold, my anger is bold
My children have died, their bodies are cold as their bodies i hold
I bury them in the ground, Oppressors earn another dollar and pound
Why is it my people, once humble, teary eyes with anger being harmed
our lands are destroyed no longer farmed, water turns into blood
Society no longer operates, people are more worried about exchange rates
Who holds our fates, we cant even find food, neither bread nor dates
Our flag of honour and diginity, destroyed with so much furosity
America aow Pakistan have made our lives miserable,
bulldozers and bombs flatten our homes and turn them into rubble
I wear my pagray with honour as i walk through this state
no matter how much we die and suffer, I will walk with pride and never accept being somebodies bait

                      Thanks

I hold onto my Ak47 in the snow, there are 100's of us in a big row
I feel cold from head to toe, My head is confused and tilted low
My blood is frozen and there is no flow, The enemies of Pashtuns stalk us like a crow
The skies are dark, there is no sunlight, I hold onto my heart very tight
My heart is cold, however my ideas are bright
Unity is my aim, Pashtunistan is my right
the greenery, the mountains, money can not buy this beauty
