Nobody needs to call anybody slave here, but Manzara, you have to admit that one of your national language is 70% Farsi and the other one is an european language, where in Afghanistan one is Pashto and there is no european language although that is changeing since there are many schools opening up in Kabul and other major cities where english is recommended and pushed.

The reason that Farsi is advanced in the region including pakistan and India is because the rich literature and it is very easy to learn, where Pashto is very difficult to learn. Also the Puppet regime you are talking about is not popular in afghanistan that has a very popular insurgency.

^ thers certain people here that think punjabies should be foot stools and not worthy of being called human, they look down on people as if they were gods gift to the world, i used the word slave to make them understand that they are equally the same when calling others a 'slave'..i agree we are all equal, punjabi, pashtun, indian, light skin, dark skin a blue eyed person isnt a better human being etc.

I thought you were a politician, your now heading into the realm of disrespecting each other, Let not go into that direction. Afghanistan tried many times before 1947 to try to get its land and people back but failed each time, we needed a little support from the people east of the line.

Its extremely difficult to bury the past when the past exists( one of the reasons that america is so united is because they dont have a past). Shahbaza look at America, it has always come to the aid of Britain even though they are not one country but they are dostyan.
But what Im saying is when you support someone and then when pressure is applied to test your will, it takes ghyrat to do the right thing, if you lack ghyrat, you will do the wrong thing. That applies to the pakistani leaders, they lacked ghyrat and even took money to assist in the rape and pillageing of afghanistan.

And this quote was not said about Afghans (Citizens of Afghanistan) but about the ethnic group Afghan/Pakhtuns/Pashtun/Pathans.
Your question is answered by me giving you examples of why they are afghanistani Tajiks, the only reason they refer to themselves as Afghan is because the Pashtuns refer to themselves as afghan and they want to feel equal to the pashtuns in the country they reside in so they also would like to be called afghan. Dont allow yourself to manipulation and start changing immortal quotes. Your identity will always be Afghan, start acting like one.

And they aren't supporting you, probably they don't want to be sold our again.

No, it's not if you care about your future generations. Many nations have destroyed millions of each other, yet an enemy of today is a friend of tomorow and Pakistan isn't even an enemy you know, ask Karzai?

Tell me the Tajiks are known as Afghans or Afghanistanis? Show me a single newspaper where they called the people of Afghanistan with the term 'Afghanistani' I heard it from you for the first time!!

Shahbaza, You know that Daud risked everything to unite his people. He risked his whole country. How can you still say "sold out" when the actions of the afghan nation has been nothing but sincere towards the pashtuns east of the line. The land was stolen, look deep inside your heart and past the panjabi propaganda.

The newspapers cant use such terms because it will promote division within the country, I only used it to make you understand that Afghan is still pashtun and vise versa.

                          Salamoona.

I think that the issue regarding the word "Afghan" is much deeper. These country names, the border markers, etc were drawn by foreign men with foreign intentions. However, the legends say various things like Qais baba was called "Apghan" or 'Afghan' or that the son of Jeremiah from whence we all spran was named "Afghan." The idea is that we ought to own the word for ourselves because otherwise we disown our grandfathers solely to suit the goals and designs of others.

The idea of Pashtuns wanting to be known as Afghans and vice versa stems from this desire to retake and reown our destiny. However, I do note that many of my mother's brethren and my wife's brethren on the other side of the line view calling themselves "Afghan" as some sort of major plot to instill within them, a dis-taste for Pakistan and a secret alliance to split off and join Afghanistan.

However, I have met many nonnationalist physicians from Khybar that hail from Mardan, Swat, etc and they all excitedly note to me that their original identity cards all had the term: "Afghan" on them.

Moreover, Khushal Khan Khattak, from the same tribe that inhabits the same areas as today, is reported to have said that he would separate with the sword whoever separated the idea that Pashtuns are Afghans and vice versa.

I mean, is it that hard to say that you are a Pakistani Afghan if that is what creates some harmony in this matter?

Regarding what the Tajiks and Uzbeks say... many of them do want to change the name of the country to Khorasaan and actually do resent the term Afghan for its innate synonymous relationship with the word Pashtun.

Finally, the famous Indo-Pakistani Quranic translator Yusuf Ali referred to the Pashtuns as "The Afghans" when he discusses languages in which translations exist.

We ought not to change our own inherent terms simply to suit politics brother. We all own these terms. Whether you are a Pakistani or an "Afghani" national... take pride in your right to call yourself an Afghan. The term is yours as much as it is anyone elses. If you chose not to use it, simply do it out of a choice... not out of the idea that others will be confused by nationality, identity, or political purpose.

To give you an idea of where I hail from, my father was born, raised, etc in Qandahar, but briefly spent time in Kabul. My mothers family hail from an ethnic pashtun village near Peshawar, but her father was stationed in Kabul and she spent formative years there. My father and my mothers father/brothers came into contact in Kabul during various education related activities and this led to the possibility of a cross border marriage occuring.

My wife hails from Waziristan. So I sort of understand both sides of the line, if you will.

I have had more contact with my father's family over the ensuing years, but still have traveled through Peshawar, etc.

I look forward to learning more about from you and others.
