    Admina,
Ive been to peshawar many times, and have many family members living there. Pashto is spoken everywhere in the city. I've never met someone that refused to speak pashto. Sometimes I do run into people that mix pashto with urdu words. For example they call "Kota," room, "camara."
Whenever I went to the market and asked the shopkeepers how much something is they usually respond in persian/urdu as far as numbers are concerned. When I tell them "pashto waya." They look at me as though Im uneducated, as though I have not went to school to learn the "sophisticated way to comunicate numbers."
So my understanding is that in peshawar, if you use urdu and english words along side pashto, you are considered a sophisticated educated person. If you use only pashto, you are considered uneducated that just came down from the mountain villages.

              Khushal, Shehbaz and Luffy,
              Thanks for the clarification.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                        Guys please take it easy.

                        Dear Manzareh,

What I said was simply an observation based on my most recent encounter. I never make baseless assumptions, which is why I asked for an elaboration from our fellow brothers across the imaginary line.

Also, respected Manzareh, it is not nice nor fair to put the spot-light on our members in such fashion. It would be of your best interest to know that Edris/Lemar hails from Herat and he speaks Pashto.

                        Best,

                        -Admin
