Dear brother, i quoted the persian name only beacausesome people know Dari so you could have confirmed if its same - I looked up in internet what species il Amlook. You put up the foto so now I am sure - its Persimon in english - there are hundereds of types - we in Armenia two hawe the two types You have, but strangely we havn'tt got a name for this fruit, we use the russian name korolek to call it. Its one of my favorite fruits. Now its season for the early sort, its grrenly-orange outside with brown flesh and very sweet.
One type Indians made me try their type - its of sandy colour, a bit hairy and even sweeter than our ones.

red persimmons are called amlook in dari and there are the dried little ones that are also called amlook in pashtu as well as dari. come to think of it, they both have similar type of seeds inside them....or i don't think the red fresh amlook has any seeds in it..
actually persimmons do have seeds in them.

No my firend - russians all korolek exactly the Amlook on the picture. The Apricot is our national symbol of Armenia, its calles Tziran, there is a legend that tells when the first two peole married the man gave his wife a part of apricot as its the only fruit you can divide with your hands in two equal parts.

There are seedless wariants as well! Persimon is a very variable fruit - Spain and Irael produce quadratic persimon - they look quiet strange and are untasty.

yes they both are called amlook... one is called sur amlook and the other small one called tor amlook.
The tor amlook is full of seeds... the sur amlook don't have seeds. sur amlook is too softer than mangoe, you can't even cut it. you can eat it only directly through you mouth... you must wash your hands and mouth after eating it lol.
The tor small amlook is a dry one... its size is like a peanut but round shape full of seeds... You eat 10 tor amlook and throw 100 seeds lol.
