i love that large plate that they place those small bowls of food in for each person. i think it's called thaali?
and i am curious of as to what the white stuff is made of or called in the picture that karachi guy posted.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

i am really fond of indian veggie food... yes the thaali... it is literally made from scratch... in the true sense of it.

it is as delicious as it looks :P

That white stuff is called 'idli'. its made of fermented black lentils (de-husked) and rice.

Idli is a South Indian name I believe.
South Indian is unique and delicious.

However, I personally prefer the Muslim Moghul-descended North Indian cuisine, minus the meat dishes.
North Indian various types of nan and parathas, also in KP area, are THE BEST !!

apart from dosais, i much prefer the food from the north of india. their yoghurt and lassis are way better too.

Not the South Indian food. They use very less oil/ghee. The idlis are steamed instead of fried. Our North Indian food is another story though....

a lot of the food in the south seems to be fried though. i lived in the north for 2 years. i tried not to but eventually i gave in, to puris, subji and dahi or breakfast. yummmmm! they can't make puris, chapatis or decent lassis in kerala or tamil nadu. very disappointing, though i love kerala itself.

i couldn't care less for the taste of the food itself but the way it's served drives me crazy (in a good way)..i love how one has less portions but more variety when it comes to indian cuisine.
