Idli is a South Indian name I believe. South Indian is unique and delicious.
However, I personally prefer the Muslim Moghul-descended North Indian cuisine, minus the meat dishes. North Indian various types of nan and parathas, also in KP area, are THE BEST !!
a lot of the food in the south seems to be fried though. i lived in the north for 2 years. i tried not to but eventually i gave in, to puris, subji and dahi or breakfast. yummmmm! they can't make puris, chapatis or decent lassis in kerala or tamil nadu. very disappointing, though i love kerala itself.

Reason: spelling
i couldn't care less for the taste of the food itself but the way it's served drives me crazy (in a good way)..i love how one has less portions but more variety when it comes to indian cuisine.
