  • Lack of Pashtun Engineers

    Greetings:

It seems like just about every Pukhtun I run into wants to become a doctor, we need to realize that we need just as many Engineers, if not more, in particular Computer Scientists and Electrical Engineers. Aside from it's lucrative aspect, along with it's various applications, we need to encourage our youth to step up to the plate and execute. There is an outrageous demand for Computer Scientists, yet despite our 60 million population size, we are barely in this field. Why is this?

What can we do to improve this? Do a Khan Academy equivalent in Pashto?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I have to disagree here. Almost every Pashtun i have met on here and in person are either engineers or business men. Including my dad who is an engineer.

Those that are 'here' are incredibly educated, but we represent a 'minority' of the 50-60 million ethnic group.

Actually the other thing that I notice in the international media is the number of 'desis' either on-screen or involved in production etc. Bollywood may have its flaws but it certainly does a lot for India's international image. Media can play a key role in our debate, be a vehicle for the arts and provide an opportunity for expression and representation. Jews, Indians, Iranians, Americans, Brits etc are known in remote places by the power of their media.

That's what I've been saying all along! Some of the posters here are fluent in English + Pashto and have the technological means and the spare time to do this but would rather create pointless polls, posts about civilizations 3000 years removed, or just troll endlessly instead of helping their own people.

I've been to a house party of pashtoons, and many of the men were engineers, from civil, to mechanical. Knew one guy who are electrical, i think there are alot of pakhtun engineers.

The problem with Pakhtuns is that most of the population are unemployed and/or uneducated.

Achakzai is a mechanical engineer and a pakhtun nationalist in Pakistan.

Look, the first problem to tackle among an ethnic group of 50-60 million is education. Lack of education is the root of a poor career among Pakhtuns, and Pakhtuns are in the third world nations. I've seen Pakhtuns going to school and they do **** good on academics, probably because pakhtuns have bigger brains, lol... but in reality, Pakhtuns are a race of genius men/women who choose to live with poverty and freedom not seeking to gain oppurtinity in the modern world.

This thread should be taken down, there's tons of Pakhtun engineers, i went to a univeristy list of graduates, and read names like Alizai, Achakzai, Zai this Zai that , "Zai" on the names of boys who graduated in a discipline in engineering, and that is in the west.

Like, if you count in the educated circle of Pashtuns, we do not lack engineers at all, but that's in the educated circle. What is not good is the majority of Pashtons have NO education.

When did you graduate and what university? But i do agree that Pashtuns are smart on average and a lot of them are engineers.

Wow first time i am agreeing with you!

Being an Engineer isn't that impressive. However I believe in encouraging Pashtuns to attain higher level science and technology degrees in general.

I posted another thread about education, RevolutionThroughReason said he met many Pashtun males in the east coast of America being drop-outs or something like that, while the Pashtun females in the west actually got a better education, forgot which thread it was.

Altough I agree there is a lack of Pashtuns in higher education, but the bigest problem is not that there is lack of schools, but the real problem is that most Pashtuns are really jahil peopel, I don't know how many of you have lived in Afghanistan (mayeb Paki Pashtuns are difrent) but the ones in Afghanistan are like really backward even the ones that went to the unies....
And when they themself don't go to school they also hate when others go, some of the boys at my nephews village told him that once USA is out they gone blow up his school so it doesn't matter if he will go to school and try his best, becuase it would be for nothing -_-. And I have met such peopel a lot in my life.
Some of the so called Pashtun "friends" that I had, always said to me that I should just find some job after school, and don't waste my time on the univercity -_-.
