  • Terraforming

Recently, I have been reading and thinking a lot about terraforming. Terraforming is the process by which planets are artificially made to resemble Earth, and have like conditions, so that once it is completed, people can live as if they were living on Earth.

It seems like a far-fetched idea but organizations like NASA are really enthusiastic about it. The two planets they are primarily looking at terraforming are Mars and Venus. They say that Mars has a substantial amount of water but it is under the surface so if they can alter the environment by "injecting" the same gasses into it that are present on Earth, the climate will heat up and the water will rise to the surface.

The injecting part might seem difficult but with all the biochemical technology they have, it just might be possible. I was also thinking about how many centuries it took man kind to learn to utilize the element present of Earth. For example, things like metal work were established over such a long period of time. What if the other planets don't have the same amounts of these useful elements on them, what will people do then?

I'd like to know other people's views on this topic. There's so much to read about it on Wikipedia, and there are artist's conceptions of what the planets will look like at different stages of their terraforming. Finally, I don't mind radical ideas at all, just share them.

Well, I am no expert in this field, but what I've read about it so far is astounding. Projects like these could take centuries to complete, and it's amazing that people are willing to dedicate their entire lives to something that they will not see pan out.

It really makes me appreciate the intellect we as people possess. We don't have the speed of a horse or cheetah, nor do we have the strength that a lion possesses in a single paw, but with our intellect we have organized the Earth in our favor and are now moving to organize other parts of our galaxy too.

Anyway, I was really looking for other opinions on this matter. Is it ethical to alter other planets so that we may be able to live on them? We all know how much harm we have caused the Earth in our quest for lives of luxury. With that said, do we have any right to do the same to other planets? I know these questions are beyond most (if not all) of us here, but I would appreciate opinions nonetheless.

Definitely, rihana. I feel a Pashtun Space Association is about to be created.

It's not what you're thinking bro lol. It's the brand new Pashtun Space Agency, or we can call it the Pashtun Space Exploration Agency, whatever works.
