Prominent scientists sign declaration that animals have conscious awareness, just like us

An international group of prominent scientists has signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they are proclaiming their support for the idea that animals are conscious and aware to the degree that humans are — a list of animals that includes all mammals, birds, and even the octopus. But will this make us stop treating these animals in totally inhumane ways?

While it might not sound like much for scientists to declare that many nonhuman animals possess conscious states, it's the

Nothing but a bunch of hypocritical tree hugging white people with plenty of time on their hand and resources they pillaged. On one hand they destroy nations full of human beings and allow those who commit mass crimes against humanity get away yet they are quick to declare this animal or that tree sacred. The irony is that the largest consumer of meat are these very compulsive consumer societies. Look at how fat, disgusting, and morally bankrupt they are.

When these hypocrites start showing respect towards non-White, non-European, non-Western, human lives, cultures, values and norms then we'll talk of the animals.

lol..like non-white, non-european, non-western imperialists haven't ravaged, raped and pillaged their way around the planet.
      no excuse, just reality.

i believe animals and other creatures have a consciousness and the even cave men probably knew this. primitive peoples appear to have had more respect for the creatures in their environments.
animals eat animals. that appears to be how we were designed for this realm.

They have, though they don't claim to be the custodians of human or animal rights which they implement using bombs and daisy cutters.

        No excuse, just facts.

for GOOD and BAD, 'the golden age' for science happens to be in the west these days. fact.
we have no idea what others may be doing if they were in this situation now. they may even be worse.

i also would like to see more emphasis put on human life as well. i am angry that australia and others get up up in arms over animals being treated badly, but not about the human life that was/is being taken in iraq and afghanistan and now syria.
very little news or protest from the wonderful scientists abut the genocide being done with depleted uranium, etc, is why i have a complain about the scientists.

i am also pleased that there is FINALLY some validation for the fact that animals are conscious beings. it is a part of knowledge, learning and expanding our human consciousness.

I worry for animals more than people; YOU BET I DO ......Animals, unlike humans are not deliberately trying to ruin our planet, stifle enlightenment and/or encourage ignorance, nor are they responsible for their own demise.

So yes I am more concerned about animals, because animals, more so than humans are less capable to unshackle themselves FROM Humans. There's still yet no INTERNATIONAL Law regarding the welfare of animals. There's PLENTY regarding the welfare of humans

Anyone who thinks that as humans we should be less worried about things LESS capable of defending themselves is full of nonsense and steeped in ignorance.

The False dichotomy RESISTANCE so intellectually portrays here is bogus. The article is merely stating that Animals have Consciousness and that implies their sense of cognizance and emotional capacity are comparable to those of humans. It is not an animal rights campaign, but I can see why someone who's so brainwashed into believing that Animals are "flesh Machines" would end up feeling a bit of guilt over the findings.

Hypocrites; some of the biggest hypocrites our world has ever seen come with Turbans, Beards and Kalishnakovs, Islam , Liberation, and Freedom; but oppress OTHER HUMANS and animals in the same lot. They claim to be the champions of Morality and Virtue; when they're everything BUT.

An Animal's love is unconditional unlike that of human beings. If you watch them closely, you could learn a thing or two about caring for each other. Human beings are doing a lousy job at being the most superior form of living.

Its a living being that feels hunger and cold the way you do so why would you not help just because it's not a human being?? Besides, how many strangers have you allowed in to your house and are taking care of as your child to show your concern for humanity that you dont like the idea of others caring for animals?? You are of no use yourself, stop discouraging others. At least we are doing something about what we believe in other than just talk about it.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

which has nothing to do with this thread as none of those have been declared, but in many instances it is true, animal lives are more worthy than so called humans for example

an animal like a dog is more worth of life then say Taliban or their supporters.
