  • Are you a pashtun ? racial identity determined by father ? WTH

They say bliss is ignorance , gotta agree there is so much ignorance in pakistan and other south asian countries .How do you know you are a pashtun? If you are a pakistani then chances are that you are considered a pashtun if your father is a pashtun .The truth however is different .
For somebody having both parents as pashtuns, there are no doubts .But for a person having one punjabi/etc and one pashtun parent the chances are 50/50.If your dad is a pashtun and mother punjabi then you are 50% pashtun and the other half punjabi. There is nothing like being a pashtun just because your dad is a pashtun. If your mother is a pashtun and your dad is a punjabi then you are a pashtun too and equally punjabi.
Your racial identity is determined by both your parents and not just your father. This determination of one's racial identity by his father's has its roots in the era of ignorance of arabs -when a male member of a family was considered superior and the females were to be known by the male (Much like the shariah system,no offense)
Why the hell are we pakistanis still being ignorant ?!

If it is the place I am thinking of, it is near were Jalozai Camp was. I remember it vividly because I almost got beat up by a policeman there.

It is a hamlet on the outskirts of Nowshera.

I had stopped in Jalozai to do some medical work there.

I studied it (area, structures, bazaars) a bit there (Pabbi) and it is the seat of power of some local corrupt officials in Nowshera, but there are nice surrounding villages with a lot of sugar cane.

The locals say it by a different name that you may know: Pahboo

                    3 options:

                    1) Trolling
                    2) Father is Baloch and mother is Khattaka from that area
                    3) Father is Pashtun and mother is hindkowal (though they are rare in that area if I recall)
