They just choose not to learn it. They hate Pashto Admin Khan.
    While we embrace their language.

Thats true. If a farsizuban learns Pashto, it is quite difficult. The context of Pashto is different. In pashto, you have the feminine, masculine changes. The verb conjugation is also tricky. A pashto speaker wont have problems learning farsi.

In farsi, you do not have that, but a lot of times, there are words that just mean the general aspect.....tu means you, shoma is a more formal way of saying it. There really isnt the feminine and masculine changes. And the verb conjugation is so much easier.

There are many farsi or farsi influenced words in pashto, however not the other way around. Pashto is a rougher language, you emphasize your voicebox more, while farsi is soft, hence why it is considered a feminine language :P

        mfd you are wrong.
your post makes no sense at all.

        Pashto is just as easy.

my 6 year old baby bro speaks Pashto fluently and English.

        That is just an excuse.

No its not easy, going from Farsi to Pashto is difficult, trust me, i would know.
Actually you dont make sense.....a point was raised on that for a Farsi speaker, its harder to learn Pashto than it is for a Pashto speaker to learn Farsi.....

            ^no.
you are old now so you are having difficulties. Just like how I would in learning Dari.

The excuse your using is lame. If you are dedicated you can learn it.

we have 50million speakers. It's not rocket science.

Pashto is not easy at all. it is a very complex language and of course your brother can speak it. he hears it around him at home. A child can distinguish up to 5 languages whereas for an adult, it is difficult to learn one language if they are acquainted with a very easy language such as Dari or English.

Let me give you an example, since I know you wont agree:

              Let's take the sentences
"He went to the store" and
              "She went to the store"

in Dari it would be "Oo Dukaan raft" for both cases.

              In Pashto it is

              "Day Dukaan ta wlaaray"
              and
              "Daa Dukaan wa wlarala"

              _______________________________________________
              Or a more thorough example..:

A boy went - Halak wlaray - Bacha raft
A girl went - Jalay wlarala - Dokhtar raft
Boys went -Halookaan wlaral - Bachahaa raftan
Grils went - Jooonee wlaraleh - Dokhtarhaa raftan.

Do you see how there is no gender differentiation in Dari? Don't get me wrong, I love Dari.. but it's grammar is very simple as opposed to the very sophisticated and complex Pashto grammar. And no, learning Dari at any age is not brain surgery. I am 18 years old and I taught myself Dari.

It is not an excuse. NOW, more than ever, Darizubaanan would want to learn Pashto because they could make $200,000 a year. Why is it still so hard for them if it is a mere excuse?? It isn't.

If you are not going to argue on a linguistic level do not even bother replying. I am not discussing politics, ethnocentrism or any personal issues here.

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..

Marwat wrora, there are more people who can speak Mandarin than people who speak English...but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's an easy language to learn, does it?
Learning a new language, be it Pashto, Dari, German or whatever else, is an achievement so don't take it so lightly

                  No i am not old
Duh!!!! You do learn it with dedication, no doubt about it. Who said you wouldnt? The point is that Farsi is a little less complicated that Pashto. In Farsi, we use a lot of formal and informal style.

In Pashto, there are rules with the feminine and masculine. The verb conjugation when changed around with the tenses are a little bit tricky. There is also the plural and singular rules.

Dari is far by easier than pashto. Dude, i would know. I am going through it, and i can tell you its not easy. Farsi is a hella easy language.

And i am not making excuses, those are reasons as to why a farsi speaker would have a hard time learning Pashto.

If you dont believe me, dunno how else to explain it then. Just go and talk to a Dari speaker and try to teach them Pashto, you will see what i am talking about.

@ Mayana & Sweety....dude i dont know how else to explain it :P

                      Mayana and MFD,

Pashto is just as easy if you dedicate yourself and if you actually conversate it with someone.

I feel like you guys are exagerrating here. Just my opinion.

Maybe Kandahari Pashto hard but marwati pashto isn't as difficult.

Many non Pashtuns speak Pashto, even some Japanese people on Khyber TV were speaking Pashto not to mention the amount of people who learn it in US universities or through rosetta stone.

it's not like chinese or anything.

                          Lar au Bar yawa Pashto.
I'm not talking about Qandahari or Marwati or Wardaki Pashto - But Ketaabi Pashto.

Nobody ever claimed that Non-Pashtuns don't speak Pashto or that it is impossible to learn Pashto. Half of my family are Tajiks and the only language they can speak is Pashto. Just like many Pashtuns can only speak Dari ;-)

It is not like Mandarin to you because you are a native speaker. Mandarin is easy for a Chinese person but very hard for a Non-Chinese person. Same goes for Pashto: It is very easy for me, I can converse in it, write it, read it.. but for someone who did not have the prveldge to grow up in an environment in which Pashto is prevalent it is very very difficult to get that feeling of language.

I don't think so. I taught myself Dari without a single book of grammar, without going to class for once, without any software.

Some languages are easy and some are difficult. The beauty of a language is in its sophistication and vocabulary.

^That is very difficult for me to believe.

You must be very intelligent to learn a language without communicating and learning it yourself.
