Afghanistan is called as motherland of pashtuns but the countery is dominated culturally, politically & linguistically by 20% tajiks. Except lamar, all afghan channels are pre-dominately dari. Dari is heavily mixed in pashto of afghanistan, even famous kandhari pashto is atleast 20% dari, e.g they say "senga ast".
Pashto books are printed in peshawer instead of kabul. Dari is sweat & powerful langauge, it is consuming pashto at alarm rate.

In pakhtunkhwa pashto is preserved well especially in rural areas despite the fact that official langauge of province is urdu (it was not done by punjabis but by pashtuns of MMA). Pashto poets & writers are more in number than in afghanistan. Even famous pashto singers are from pakhtunkhwa. It is considerd a insult if u are a pakhtun and communicate with pashtun in urdu.
Pakhtunkhwa is a reservior of pakhto and pakhto culture.

Only Uzbeks,Tajiks say "tasi singa yas?" that is not Dari even either. Kandahar is PURE Pashto. Which means everything is in Pashto. Only city in the world that is predominant Pashto.

          Peshawar Might be top 10.
Many kandharis on afghanforums have admitted to me that kandhari pashto is mixed alot with dari, you are exeption.

Pashto in afghanistan has symbolically official status while dari is practically playing the role of an official langauge. Pashtuns in pakistan are only 14% so poor status of pashto here is understandable (still better than in afghanistan) but i dont understand why pashto is in depressed state in a country with 60-70% pashtuns?

How many of you can speak it?

and correct me if i am wrong, dari seems dominant over pashto in term of influence and use in afghanistan, why? what are the reasons.
Dari is short for Darbari. Darbar means throne. The rulers of Afghanistan rarely spoke Pashto. Most of them spoke Farsi (dari) because just like Arabic, Farsi was a very important language in politics, science, religion, literature and arts. So the royal families have always raised their children to speak Farsi.

This is the reason why Mughals and many Pashtun ings spoke Farsi.

Pashtun king, Ahmadshah Abdali was a pious man who did not have any prejudices. He spoke Pashto, Farsi and Arabic. He wrote poems in Pashto and Farsi. His children were raised only speaking Farsi.

Sadly, Pashto never managed to become a prominent language. The only period in Afghan history when Pashto was the official language and spoken language of the administration was during the Taliban.

judging from people mentality on this forume, i would say thats very unlikely, but it would be great though pakistan and afghanistan should one country along with the rest of the south centeral asian muslim countries, divisions will only make us weaker

Do you ever, for the sake of goodness, plan to stop your crap? If Afghanistan is motherland of all Pukhtoons, then so is Pakhtunkhwa! Karachi has more Pukhtoons than anywhere in the world and yet you will hardly hear any Pukhto there. Afghanistan has been a part with Iran and Pukhto came to other ethnic's knowledge not even 300 years ago! It became an National language just few decades ago so despite of sharing a country with majority Dari speakers for centuries, Pukhto in Afghanistan is improving and I have seen how Dari speakers are complaining about Pukhto words taking things over politically, economically and even educationally because finally Pukhtoons in Kabul are waking up and are fighting for their language. But what about you Pukhtoons of Pakistan? You ain't with Pakistan for even a century and your language is nearly destroyed! You couldn't keep your language PURE for even a century and expect us to force Pukhto on all non-Pukhtoon ethnics who have been speaking Dari since forever? And if you believe in equal rights and peace amongst ethnics, then why you worried even IF Pukhtoons become ready to sacrifice Pukhto for Dari? Well? Your language is not even a threat in Pakistan but yet you happily choose Urdu instead, while we have to fight nearly 16 ethnics who are non-Pukhtoons and who prefer (mainly) speaking Dari. So compared to you, despite of being under pressure, we are doing SO MUCH better that in this regard I can't even dare comparing Pukhtoons on both sides my friend!

Why you call karachi a pashtun city? it is a pre-dominately mohajir city with minorities of sindhis, punjabis and pashtuns. Out of 15 million population of the city, 3 million are only pashtuns.... magority of these pashtuns r labourers, watchkeepers and drivers, whose families still reside in pakhtunkhwa. so instead of talking abt a non-pashtun city, talk about FATA, Pakhtunkhwa and balochistan.

You would have only visited peshawer city, a hinko city, visit and check rural areas of pakhtunkhwa and listen to their pashto and observe their customs...you wil sense deficiencies in ur country.

Due to constant wars and displacements, pashtun skeleton has been weakened in afghanistan. and we as a big bros, are worried about afghanistan.

^ I didn't call Karachi a Pukhtoon city, I said it got more Pukhtoons than anywhere in the world so stop giving excuses as to why Pukhto has died there. And did you just say Karachi only got three million Pukhtoons? LOOOOOOOL, no comment! :D

And only places I heard pleasant Pukhto in Pakhtunkhwa was the poor areas. It's the rich areas which are supposed to promote Pukhto because they DO have the money for promotion, education and etcetera in Pukhto! And even cities like Herat, Mazar, Badakhshan and etcetera are non-Pukhtoon areas. You will be shocked at how well Pukhto those people there speak! Can I expect same from non-Pukhtoons in Pukhtunkhwa? No way!

have u gone to karachi? i think no because you have issued a very bold statement that pashto is dead in karachi. 3 million is official statistic, i dont believe in random estimations.
as i said before most of the pashtuns working there are poor labourers, drivers, watchkeepers, their pashto is obviously fully intact.
upper class and middle class pashtuns are not so much in number, they r permently settled there with obvious urdification.

^ Yes I have been to Karachi and I remember that city very well because it was the most boring place I had ever been to in my life! All those men in our area were called Khan bhai or Pathan bhai but none of them could reply me in Pukhto when I used to ask them something in Pukhto. Pathan bhai my foot. And why do you believe in estimate of three million Pukhtoons but not in estimates of seven millions Pukhtoons, by most sources? Case of self-hatism?
