Each ethnic group decides to burn each others school so their dominated province remains illiterate.

Reasons for high illiteracy rate in Afghanistan:

Afghanistan has a long tradition of formal education. Unfortunately this was not available for everybody. Those who had access to education facilities were members of royal family, their closest affiliates and state servants, sardaran, generals and so on.
Free and modern schools around Afghanistan were established after 1919. Rural afghans had only access to traditional madrassas and islamic schools. School enrollment was not possible due to the fact that the central government measures did not extent beyond the capital.

I want to sum up the most important reasons for high illiteracy rate in Afghanistan:

              - Pashtuns living in the periphery have always lived independently in tribes and their traditional occupation was mixed farming. They had a rich tradition of oral education and poetry. This is mostly pre-Islamic education like landay, matal, tribal history, Pashtunwali, tribal genealogy and education of moral values were more important due to the fact that pashtun tribes were living under harsch conditions.
              - Destruction of schools and abolishment of school system reforms during revolutions and wars like in 1928, 1978 and after 1992.
              - Political, financial and social isolation by the British Empire and Russia during industrialization when most European countries developed free and modern school systems. Afghanistan was a semi-colony, there was no industry, no diplomatic relations to any other country besides with the British Empire, AFG was landlocked but not connected to the railway. Intellectuals were exiled and banned from the country.
              - political instability and changing regimes
              - migration waves of intellectuals into USA and Europe
              - no central power
              - Afghanistan's enemies intent to keep us uneducated and illiterate since they know the potential of this great nation. They want to keep our country conflict-ridden and vulnerable. They also created this "ethnic conflict". 100 years ago there were no ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan, those conflict were seen as regional.

Yes, books to convert Afghans to Shi'ism and to eliminate Pashto language and make Farsi the lingua franca of Afghanistan.

                  of course rihana.

Iran tried to convert afghans to shiism back in the 18th century when Gurgin Khan was persian governor of the Safaweed in Kandahar.

Go to Afghanistan and see what is happening. They are spreading books and they have many NGO's who are trying to convert people to Shi'ims.

And they sell many farsi books or even hand those books out for free to to students to encourage them to believe that Farsi should be the only official language of Afghanistan.

This is a stealth cultural invasion of Iran.

And since the whole world is running all over us, even Iran is having a go at us.

We should not be fooled by a few naval ships or some other type of hand out.

We should see the bigger picture.

A lot of you are not using logic, Darweshkhel the problem is money. Each country that supports us, They would also want the Afghans to use their form of history.

^And there-in is the inherent problem with Aid.

Nothing, on the international platform, is for free. It's all about pushing agendas.

The question is can take take the aid and refuse agendas at the same time? And my guess, is that, ultimately that's difficult.

Case in point - the Mujahideen/Taleban

                          Tor Khan,

I think it's possible. If someone like me and you become rich we can assist them. With that being stated if you decide to pay only 100dollars a month and every other expat, believe me it's enough.

But we are selfish and greedy.
