  • Universities in Nangarhar

Nangarhar University has 7 faculties, 250 staff, and a student population of about 3500. Excellent...Somehow, I feel that Nangarhar is more progressive than Kandahar. I may be wrong though.

Nangarhar University (Pashto: د ننګرهار پوهنتون) is a government-funded higher learning institution in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. It is the second largest university in Afghanistan. It has approximately 250 faculty and 3,500 students.
Nangarhar University was established in 1962 as a medical college. It was later merged with other local colleges to become a full-fledged university. It now houses faculties in agriculture, engineering, education, medicine, theology, pedagogy, political science and veterinary medicine.

Nangarhar University is ranked 2nd to Kabul University. However, Attah Noor is heavily investing on Balkh University and Heratis are working on their university as well. It might have already, or will very soon lose the 2nd status. It is time for Gul Agha Sherzai to invest more on Nangarhar university and Turyalai Weesa should stand by his promise as well.

Since Laghman is rich in agriculture, many of the students go to Nangarhar University to study Agricultural Science......and its only like 30 minute drive for them.

Degrees which take 2 years, being thought by amateur instructors (they can’t be called teachers or professors) and theory from modern text books which they don’t have the background/experience or assistance required to sufficiently comprehend.

There is much more to a Medicine, Engineering and Law degree than theory from textbooks.

The government should regulate this sector. The only benefit of a private university is that a wealthy Afghan can purchase for him or her the culturally esteemed title of ‘Doctor’ or ‘Engineer’.

In other cases, the naive lower middle class in search of employment, are encouraged to pay $2000 (that's alot of money for them) plus to attain a degree from an institution which will not help them get employment. Their time would have been better served pursing another profession/specialty.

Private Universities can play a key role in terms of training trade specialists like qualified carpenters, electricians or plumbers etc but not Doctors or Engineers.

My brother in law graduated from the Med school from Nangarhar Uni, and he is as smart as the doctors from America.

So I have no idea what Khdir is talking about.

Nangarhar University is not "Private University". It is the second oldest University in Afghanistan. I'm talking about PRIVATE Universities. There's hundreds of them.

Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I think Toryalai should be pressured to upgrade Kandahar University....but a lot also depends on security situation....On thing I noticed was that Khost University which has many faculties and a pretty sizeable student population...

Khidr, depends on a number of factors foremost managment and availability of resources. Whereas public sectors universities generally tend to be good well-funded and administered universities outshine public sector universities in academic output and research productivity.

Somehow, I feel that Eastern people especially traditional Muslim societies are not made for outstanding research and creativity (which requires patience, consistency, and non-traditional approach)...The institutions can be called productive in one sense i.e. they are enhancing literacy (though by charging highly).

When he was first appointed as the governor of Kandahar Province, one of the things he promised was investing more on Kandahar university.

you want change and investment rom people such as Gulagha sherzai and turyalai(whoever he is).
liek the saying goes : che dena ooba ghwarey no khe dey che tegay mer shey.

sherzai is deluding people of nargarhar while his fatass sits in the royal palace being happy called Buldozer by karzai.

only thing which will bring a change will be a revolution and after that we can have better education and progress.

when this character steals around 80% o the money destined or nangarhar than we can waite until qayamath for proper universities and progress.

instead of building a large library or a university this guy is building park and mosque for nangarharian.Nit that something is wrong with mosuqes or parks which are also needed but it doesnt mean thats it.
