The Prophet salallahu 'alayhi wa sallam has described, in Tibb an Nabawiy, the black seed and its oil as such a remedy that it treats everything, but death. Seven seeds a day, keeping up with it on a daily basis, can prevent many illnesses.

Great share. I don't know how I've missed this post. Great point you've made.

      Salajeet

Salajeet (also known as Momyaee in Farsi) is an all natural crystalline substance that is secreted from mountains. It is full of triterpenes which aid the body in restoring biochemical and hormonal balances. It is known to be a stress reliever as well as a supplement for overall good health. It is particularly helpful for getting rid of aches and pains, including joint pains.

A small amount is crushed and dissolved into warm milk, which is drank prior to sleep. It is widely available at most Afghan stores and should be a must have in every medicine cabinet.

For more information, please check out the thread we have on Salajeet: http://www.pashtunforums.com/hujra-1...-salajit-1044/

        ^ Sounds interesting.

I am curious about that black seed - I've seen it but never was sure exactly WHAT it is - any explanations?

I'd like to try this Salajit.

          Recipe Three:

          1 tbsp honey
          1 tbsp fresh milk
          1 cotton bud

What can you do with it?

Wipe over face or any areas which you otherwise moisturise or which are exposed to the sun.

          What does it work for?

          Aging
          Evening out skin tone
          Whitening
          Sunburns

You didn't say to mix ingredients. Can you be more detailed .

Shall we use Manuka honey or the cheap crap?

I actually use this remedy every other night for 5 years now. It definitely helps with moisturizing the face....especially on the cheeks and nose

There aren't many processes involved when two ingredients are listed.

If you can get your hands on some wild organic honey from Himalayan flowers, it'd be great.

I've looked at the ingredients in several of the commercial creams here, a lot of them contain extracts from mushrooms that claim to reduce acne scarring. I've tried a home made mushroom paste on my face once a week for about a month and I found that it really reduced any kind of mild rosacea redness and lightened my freckles.

On another note, I remember reading ahadith regarding mushroom extract being a treatment for the eyes... maybe Mazhala has a reference for us.

I usually get a handful of fresh mushrooms (I use the brown kind, I'm sure the regular button mushrooms would be fine), blend it up in the food processor or blender. I also add a bit of fresh ginger and about 1/2 tsp of turmeric and mix it all together. Because it's slightly chunky, I add about 2Tbsp of my regular moisturizing facial cream so that it binds together. Smooth all over your face and leave for 1 hour and rinse off.

Also a good one for scar lightening is a mixture of 2 parts plain yoghurt and 1 part lemon juice. It is quite acidic though so if you have redness it may aggravate it.

This one's not a "remedy" but a tried-and-true mixture I put in every shampoo bottle... it makes my hair grow much faster and healthier and it's great for the scalp:

                              6 drops rosemary essential oil
5 drops ylang ylang essential oil
                              3 drops basil oil
                              3 drops jojoba essential oil

Add this to your shampoo bottle (important that it is not a 2-in-1 conditioner). Make sure the bottle is not totally full or will not mix well, give it a good shake. It is expensive mind you.. but the little bottles last for so long and you could probably find a use for the oils other than this mixture. Probably cheapest online.

You're right. Mushroom is used in many creams, in particular, it is used as a whitener in creams that even out your skin tone. The yoghurt and lemon too is a great mixture as it contains Vitamin C. As for you using ginger, it varies for every skin type as ginger itself is among the warm foods and based on your own temperament, warm foods often are the cause of acne. Tumeric is the better option for all skin types. Perhaps you can add honey and milk powder to hold the paste together instead of an already-made product?
