The Hungarian Prime Minister has accused billionaire investor George Soros of betraying Europe by supporting refugees travelling for the Middle East.
Viktor Orban said a conspiracy of left wingers, influential money movers and unelected leaders were undermining the EU as they try to deal with the migrant crisis.
The Hungarian leader has been an outspoken champion of hardline anti-migration policies, and has built razorwire-topped fences on Hungary's southern borders with Serbia and Croatia to keep out migrants.

The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, left, has accused billionaire investor George Soros, right, of betraying Europe by supporting refugees travelling for the Middle East

In a speech in Budapest today, Orban cited Hungarian born Mr Soros as an example, saying the plans of 'well organised money movers, those thinking beyond nation-states and leader who have never been elected' could come to reality.
He said: 'Europe has been betrayed, if we don't stand up for it, the continent will no longer be for those citizens living here.'

Mr Orban also added how it was 'hard to imagine' that large European states with 'huge well-functioning intelligence services' were not prepared for the influx of several thousand refugees to Europe each day.
Hungary has said it plans to challenge the EU's mandatory quota plan for refugee relocation, and not take in any asylum-seekers or migrants sent back from western Europe.

'Who in Europe voted to allow people to arrive illegally in their millions and then be distributed?" Orban said during a radio interview.
'What is happening today has no democratic basis," he said, adding that the EU was moving from organisation and legality to 'anarchy.'
'The people of Europe are beginning to wake up, they have realised that immigration is a cultural question, our identity is at stake,' he said.

More than 700,000 people fleeing war and poverty, many of them refugees from conflict in Syria, have arrived in Europe so far this year

More than 12,600 people arrived in the country of two million people within 24 hours, a daily record, police said on Thursday.
European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker chided EU member states for not respecting their pledges of humanitarian aid to tackle the crisis.
'The migrant crisis which we are experiencing will not be over at Christmas, it is a crisis that will last and long-term action is needed,' he told a gathering of European conservative parties in Madrid.
EU member states pledged a total of 2.3 billion euros ($2.6 billion) in aid but so far have only delivered 275 million euros, he added.

    • Shotguns are now sold out in Austria

In the new Europe, where the police no longer have the same capacity to protect citizens, and in some cases even refer to vigilantes, there are increasingly more who decide to take matters into their own hands.

This is a dangerous development. For all. In Austria there is no need for a license to purchase shotguns and these weapons are therefore particularly popular.

70,000 shotguns have been sold so far this year, and Austrian gun dealers are now practically sold out of shotguns.

In several other European countries you have to be registered as a hunter to get a license to buy a shotgun, and courses to obtain a hunting licence, and thus being able to buy guns, have exploded.

In Austria, women are behind the increased demand for shotguns.

The reason for the massive increase in sales of firearms, is fear of an immigration out of control.

      - I want to be able to protect myself and my daughter, in case something happens, an Austrian woman told Speisa, after recently purchasing a "Merkel" (!) shotgun.

She says it was very expensive and that she suspect arms dealers to have turned up the prices because of the great demand.

She also admits that she has never even held a weapon before, but got instructions from the guns dealer how to load, aim and pull the trigger.

      • Hundreds of same-sex marriages annulled in Italy

        Reuters

Hundreds of same-sex marriages have been annulled in Italy after the Council of State removed their legal status.
On Tuesday a ruling in favour of cities that had registered same-sex marriages was annulled by the country's highest appeal court.

Same-sex marriage is not legal in Italy, which is un-surprising in a country heavily influenced by the Vatican. Despite this, some liberal mayors have been defying the law by registering unions that have occurred abroad.
The decision of the Council of State has been met with outrage from gay rights groups, particularly when it was found that the panel of judges was led by a former president of an Opus Dei-run halls of residence in Milan.
Opus Dei is a secretive, conservative Catholic society whose members are known to live strictly pious lifestyles.
Another of the judges was accused of allowing his conservative Catholic beliefs, declared publicly on his Twitter profile, which he denied and insisted he "merely applied the law."
Foreign ministry undersecretary and member of the centre Left PD party, Benedetto Della Vedova, said the ruling was "a victory for no one and a defeat for all", as it leaves Italy "at the starting posts as regards gay rights, which urgently need to be regulated."
A bill introducing civil unions for same-sex couples is being examined by parliament but has been met by strong opposition.
Significantly, the recognition of same-sex marriages would give gay couples the same financial benefits and security as heterosexual married couples.
