Hungary has closed the border with Croatia

Hungary closes the border with Croatia from midnight, said Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, on Friday.

- The Security Cabinet has decided that from Saturday, Hungary will be able to fulfill its obligations under the Schengen Agreement on the border between Hungary and Croatia. We will thus close the border from midnight, said Szijjarto on Friday.

Hungary has already made a fence along the border, but will according to Szijjarto make two transit zones where refugees are given the opportunity to apply for asylum.

378.000 refugees and migrants have so far this year passed through Hungary, heading north of Europe.

Authorities believe that figure will increase to nearly 700,000 within the year.

The country has received criticism after having made long and high fences, but Prime Minister Viktor Orbán rejects the criticism and defends the country's hard-line against refugees and migrants.

In an interview with the German magazine Focus, Orban says that "Islam has never been a part of Europe" and criticized European leaders for the unwillingness to question the challenges a multicultural society brings.

The Croatian government says it has a plan ready to deal with the influx of refugees after the closure of the border to the neighboring country, but will not go into details about it.

- The Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic is in contact with his Slovenian counterpart Miro Cerar. The Croatian government has already agreed with Slovenia on a plan. In case Hungary closes the border, Croatia will implement the plan, in cooperation with Slovenia, said a government spokesman in the Croatian capital Zagreb.

Sie protestieren gegen Kälte, „Hunger und Durst“ und fordern Fahrkarten: Am Freitag demonstrierten etwa 40 Flüchtlinge vor dem Max-Bahr-Baumarkt am Rugenbarg, in dem seit zwei Wochen 900 Menschen untergebracht sind. In Schönschrift steht „Wir wollen Deutsch lernen“ oder „Unsere Kinder müssen zur Schule“ auf den Plakaten geschrieben.
Die Polizei, die die Lage kontrolliert, wird stutzig und versucht herauszufinden, von wem die Schilder stammen. „Die kommen nicht aus der Unterkunft“, vermutet DRK-Kreisgeschäftsführer Jörg Theel. „Die Halle ist auf 26 Grad beheizt, die Bewohner können regelmäßig in die Kleiderkammer gehen – aber sie wollen nicht alles anziehen.“ Essen und Trinken gebe es auch genug.
Ob die Demo allein von den Flüchtlingen organisiert wurde, blieb gestern unklar. Eingeladen hatte auch die Fraktion der Linken.

Migrant women are being forced to become €10-a-time prostitutes in German refugee camps, it has been reported.
The country – which is braced for around one million asylum seekers this year – has seen a spike in violence at registration centres in recent weeks as conditions deteriorate and tempers boil over.
Sex attacks are now said to be an 'everyday event' while in one state alone there are understood to have been 100 cases of violence in just the last three months.

At one migrant centre in the town of Kitzingen, officials are now only employing male cleaning staff after a female employee was allegedly sexually assaulted every day for ten days.
Two migrants, aged 38 and 52, have been arrested on suspicion of attacking the female cleaner between October 1 and October 10.

Meanwhile, a mass brawl erupted earlier this month between dozens of refugees from Albania and Afghanistan.
Some were armed with knives and one was even said to have a gun. Riot police were called in to quash the riot and made several arrests.
Rainer Wendt, of the German Police Trade Union, told one German news channel: 'In politics, it is frequently portrayed as being a squabble over food or the (unfair) amount of clothing being handed out, but it is not so.
'We must enter time and again with a strong show of force.
'A person cannot simply make light of what exactly is happening here, but naturally the interior ministers are unable to read the actual on-site situation of the police.'

Er wurde von vier Schüssen in den Rücken getroffen, ganz in der Nähe des Kanzleramts: Frank Müller war ein gnadenloser Kritiker des Systems von Angela Merkel. Wer wirklich hinter seinem Tod steckt, kommt wohl nie ans Licht.

Der prominente deutsche Oppositionsführer Frank Müller ist in der Nacht auf Samstag in Berlin ermordet worden. Er wurde von Schüssen getroffen, die ein Attentäter nach Angaben von Behörden aus einem fahrenden Auto abgab. Die Tat ereignete sich keine 400 Meter vom Kanzleramt entfernt, auf einer Brücke in der Nähe des Roten Rathauses.
Müller soll in Begleitung einer jungen Bekannten aus der Thailand gewesen sein. Mehrere Zeugen hätten die Tat beobachtet, berichtete die Nachrichtenagentur dpa unter Berufung auf die Polizei.
Mit dem Mord an Frank Müller bricht für deutsche Oppositionelle eine neue Ära an – eine Ära der Angst. Müller, 55, war ein scharfer Kritiker der deutschen Kanzlerin Angela Merkel. Der Ermordete zählte zu den Organisatoren einer Oppositionsdemonstration, die am Sonntag am Stadtrand von Berlin stattfinden soll. Die Veranstalter haben angekündigt, statt einer Kundgebung einen Trauermarsch abhalten zu wollen.
Unter Deutschlands Oppositionellen war Müller einer der wenigen, die selbst über Stammtischerfahrung verfügten: In seiner Stammkneipe hatte der überzeugte Liberale regelmäßig flammende Reden gehalten.
Im Ausland punktete Müller mit seinem fließenden Russisch und seinem modernen Auftreten – anders als verstockte Ex-68er und tumbe Sozialdemokraten. Müller galt als Sonnyboy und spielte auch selbst gern mit seinem Image, ein Frauenschwarm zu sein.
2014 holte Lutz Bachmann Müller nach Dresden und ernannte ihn zum PEGIDA-Pressesprecher. Müller galt als Bachmanns engster Vertrauter und wurde eine zeitlang gar als der Kronprinz des siechenden Patriarchen gehandelt – mit nicht einmal 40 Jahren.
Doch seine Karriere als Berufsdemonstrant fand mit den desaströsen Demonstrationen in anderen Teilen Deutschlands ein jähes Ende. Müller trat als Pressesprecher zurück und besuchte in Dresden nie wieder eine Demonstration.
Obwohl Müller die Präsidentschaft von Angela Merkel zunächst begrüßte, wurde er in deren Regime nicht heimisch. Das System Merkel war für Müller “ein riesiger, mit einer hauchdünnen Schicht Blattgold überzogener Haufen Scheiße”, wie er in einem Interview sagte. Immer wieder kritisierte er Merkels Europa- und Asylpolitik. Der eigenwillige Müller, der selbst seinen Gönner Bachmann zu kritisieren wagte, gehörte weder zu den von Merkel favorisierten CDU-Mitgliedern noch zu den konsensfähigen Reform-Apparatschiks der SPD
Viele Oppositionelle machen Merkel verantwortlich
Müller entwickelte sich schnell zu einem Kritiker Merkels, 2004 unterstützte er die Machtübernahme von Viktor Orban in Budapest und wurde Berater von Holger Apfel in der NPD. Zuletzt übte er scharfe Kritik am Vorgehen der NATO in Afghanistan, Libyen, Irak und Syrien. Die USA und die NATO bezeichnete er als “Blutsauger”.
Offenbar beruhte Müllers Abneigung gegen Merkel auf Gegenseitigkeit, der Stammtischredner wurde wie sein Kumpel Bachmann immer wieder Opfer von Schmutzkampagnen in der deutschen Klatschpresse, nach oppositionellen Aktionen wurde er auch wiederholt juristisch verfolgt. Ob ein Mord an Müller im Interesse des Kanzleramts läge, ist in Deutschland eine Streitfrage.
Viele Oppositionelle machen Merkel für den Mord verantwortlich. Andere wiederum befürchten, die Gewaltwelle aus der NSU sei nach Berlin übergeschwappt – demnach könnte Müller nationalistischen Eiferern vom Schlage des Uwe Mundlos zum Opfer gefallen sein. Der Mord an Müller wäre dann ein Beleg für Merkels Kontrollverlust. Derweil wollen deutsche Zeitungen den Mord den Oppositionellen selbst in die Schuhe schieben.
Merkels Pressesprecher Steffen Seibert bezeichnete den Mord als eine “große Provokation” – ganz so, als stecke die Opposition oder die NPD selbst hinter der Tat, um den Mord der deutschen Regierung in die Schuhe zu schieben. Das deutsche Ermittlungskomitee hat angekündigt, den Fall rasch aufzuklären – man wird die Täter finden, genau wie bei Charlie Hebdo. Die Aufklärung soll so schnell und gründlich sein wie beim NSU. Wer wirklich dahintersteckt, wird wohl für immer das Geheimnis des korrupten deutschen Sicherheitsapparats bleiben.

Gera. Noch bevor voraussichtlich am Montag die ersten von bis zu 2000 Asylbewerbern in das ehemalige Bergarbeiterkrankenhaus einziehen, hat die Stadtverwaltung Gera diese Woche eine Bronzeplastik und eine Sonnenuhr entfernen lassen.
Diese Entfernung beklagt der Geraer AfD-Landtagsabgeordnete Stephan Brandner
in einer Pressemitteilung. Er verstehe nicht, dass „die beiden unbekleideten Gestalten ein halbes Jahrhundert nach ihrer Aufstellung nun aus Rücksicht vor mittelalterlichen Moralvorstellungen oder befürchteter Zerstörungswut der zukünftigen Bewohner des Objektes“ abgebaut wurden. „Wir wollen unsere Kultur behalten, ob in Bronze gegossen oder sonst wie und damit basta!“, erklärt Brandner.

Auf die Frage, warum die vermutlich im Jahr 1963 dort zwischen Kulturhaus und Haupthaus aufgestellte lebensgroße Plastik ausgerechnet jetzt vom Sockel geholt wurde, beantwortet die Stadtverwaltung auf OTZ-Anfrage nicht. Vielmehr wird der denkmalpflegerische Wert der 1962 in Bronze gegossenen Plastik „Heilkraft und Heilkunst“ von Harri Schneider (1929-1992) aus Magdeburg im angestammten Ensemble betont.
Plastik und Sonnenuhr sollen als Dauerleihgabe auf dem Gelände des SRH Wald-Klinikums aufgestellt werden. Das sei schon länger der Wunsch der Klinikleitung
. Ursprünglich wollte man das bronzene Paar direkt umsetzen, aber weil die Figuren einen Sporn haben, der in die Erde spießen würde und unklar sei, ob auf der Fläche vor dem über 90-jährigen Klinikgebäude Leitungen verlaufen, wurde das Kunstwerk zunächst von der Stadt eingelagert, so eine Kliniksprecherin auf Nachfrage.

Bei Manfred Otto Taubert, dem Geraer Autor des 2014 erschienenen Buches „Plastiken und Skulpturen in Gera“ haben sich unterdessen aufgeregte Geraer gemeldet. Er selbst war am Ort des Geschehens, wurde aber nicht bis zum Standort vorgelassen. Das wurde auch unserer Redaktion für ein Foto verwehrt. Selbst auf Rückfrage des Objektleiters beim Landesverwaltungsamt blieb das so. Dort sei nur noch ein Erdhaufen, sagten Mitarbeiter der Wachschutzfirma.

Das Paar soll ganz in die Nähe der Plastik „Mädchenakt“ von Carl Kuhn und „Junger Student“, auch nackt, von Heinz Beberniß seinen Platz finden.
„Ich fand das Paar dort ideal. Ich könnte nicht verstehen, wenn es nur deshalb umgesetzt wurde, weil die Asylbewerber hierher kommen“, sagt Bildhauer Volkmar Kühn ausWünschendorf, der 2013 in Zwickau selbst erleben musste, wie sein „Ikarus“ vor einer Schule als Provokation verstanden wurde. „Es braucht sicher Hilfeleistungen, den Flüchtlingen unsere Kunst zu erklären“, sagt er, denn im Islam beispielsweise sei figurative Kunst überhaupt nicht gegenwärtig.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Violence against writers and a misplaced sense of political correctness pose new dangers to freedom of speech in the West, writer Salman Rushdie said on Tuesday.
Rushdie, the subject of an Iranian death threat in 1989 for his book "The Satanic Verses", which was deemed blasphemous by many Muslims, said he had not expected freedom of expression to come under attack again to this extent in the western world.
"It seems to me the battle for free expression was won 100 years ago," the 68-year-old told an audience at the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair, under heavy security.
"The fact that we have to go on fighting this battle is the result of a number of regrettable, more recent phenomena."
After Islamist gunmen killed 12 people in January in an attack at the office of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which had mocked religions including Islam, Rushdie defended the murdered cartoonists.
He still faces criticism from his religious opponents: the Iranian Ministry of Culture canceled its national stand at this year's book fair because of Rushdie's appearance, and Saudi Arabia protested against a new Czech translation of "The Satanic Verses" only last week.
Rushdie criticized restraints on freedom of expression at universities, referring to recent examples in Britain and the United States. "The idea that students should not be intellectually challenged at universities is exactly what we should fight," he said.
The British Indian novelist, who went into hiding for years after the 1989 edict by Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini ordering Muslims to kill him, has resumed public appearances in recent years and was in Frankfurt promoting his new book.
"Two Years, Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights", a reference to the 1,001 nights of the famous Arabic tales, is described as a novel exploring the complexity of the world by weaving together history, mythology and love.
Rushdie told his audience that all people around the world could relate to stories, so limiting freedom of expression was not just censorship but an assault on human nature.
"It prevents us from being the kind of creatures that we are. It is not something which is specific to one culture. It is something universal to human beings," he said.

German mayoral candidate Reker stabbed over refugee support

A leading candidate in Cologne's mayoral race has been stabbed in the neck by a man claiming to be angry over the country's refugee policies.
Henriette Reker - an independent candidate supported by Chancellor Angela Merkel's CDU party - was seriously injured along with an aide. Three others suffered minor injuries.

Local police said Ms Reker, 58, was "stable, but not out of the woods".
Police have arrested a 44-year-old German national and Cologne resident.
The attacker told police he stabbed Ms Reker "because of anti-foreigner motives," senior police investigator Norbert Wagner said.

The suspect appeared to have acted alone and had no police record, Mr Wagner added.

Ralf Jager, a regional interior minister, said: "The first signs speak for a politically motivated act."
The attacker will undergo a psychiatric examination to establish whether that was his primary motive or whether he had a health problem.

A spokesman for Ms Merkel said the chancellor "expressed her shock and condemned this act".
Germany's interior minister, Thomas de Maiziere, called the attack "appalling and cowardly".

City officials said the election would go ahead as planned. Ms Reker has been the head of Cologne's social affairs and integration department since 2010.
Ms Merkel has come under fire from some in Germany over the large numbers of refugees and migrants being allowed into the country.
Germany has said it expects 800,000 people to seek asylum this year, but a leaked report suggested the number could be as high as 1.5 million.
Politically-motivated attacks are relatively rare in Germany. In 1990, then-Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble was shot while out campaigning, an attack that left him using a wheelchair.
A few months earlier, Oskar Lafontaine, then a prominent member of Germany's main opposition party, was stabbed in the neck by a mentally disturbed woman.

Afghan Migrants Deported From Europe Speak Of Their Ordeal

A number of refugees who have returned to Afghanistan after fleeing the country for Europe on Thursday called on their fellow countrymen not to leave the country illegally, saying the journey overland is a nightmare.
Describing their ordeal, the return refugees, many of whom where deported from European countries, related harrowing tales of their trip to Europe, including death threats received along the way.
One migrant who has returned told how he was subjected to extreme weather conditions in Serbia and Croatia, while others said they had lost many friends and relatives while traveling through Iran and Turkey.
"There were five of us when we started our journey but now I am alone and have no information about my friends," said Sayed Jarullah.
"The Iranian police and soldiers do not value the Afghans at all. They never treat Afghans like humans," another young Afghan said after being deported back to Afghanistan.
Reports suggest that about one hundred passenger vehicles leave Kabul for Nimroz province daily – which borders Iran.
Europe, especially Germany is facing a huge refugee crisis as thousands of refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have flocked to Europe in a bid to seek asylum and find work.
"80 percent of the Afghans that travel to Iran do not stay in the country. They travel from Iran to Turkey and then Greece and then Germany or other European countries," head of a transport company Sirajuddin said.
But people warn if insecurity and the lack of employment persist in the country, people will continue to flee.

Journalist went to Swedish No-Go-Zone to interview stone-throwers - was stoned

The journalist Valentina Xhaferi went to the Stockholm suburb of Tensta to record a television program about stone throwing.

But once there, she and the cameraman were chased away and had stones thrown at them.

- They thought we crossed the limit and that we were standing on their ground, says Valentina Xhaferi, to the Swedish newspaper Expressen.

Police officers say that threats and stone throwing have become daily events when they are patrolling in some of the suburbs of Stockholm.

In connection with a story about this, investigative journalist Valentina Xhaferi from the TV channel TV8, along with a cameraman, went to the no-go-zone of Tensta in Stockholm.

Valentina Xhaferi wanted the people living there to be heard about what really lies behind the headlines coming out of the suburb. She got some hard answers, literally, as they were themselves attacked - and chased away.

They went to Tensta center, where they set up the camera and started shooting film clip images to the report. They made contact with a person who agreed to be interviewed. But then he walked away and told them to wait for him to come back. After five minutes, another man approach the camera man.

"Why are you filming?" he asks, and sounds very upset. Then he goes away only to return with his pals.

- They thought we crossed the limit and that we were standing on their ground. That we could not stand there and work, says Valentina Xhaferi.

The situation becomes bad and she asks them to leave.

- Then he becomes very, very angry and says he'll get stones and show us what stoning is. When I saw that he was armed with a stone I just wanted to get out of there, says Valentina Xhaferi.

Then three guys come against her from the subway and ask what they are doing there. The cameraman push the record button on the camera and captures what happens. They behave threatening, calling Valentina Xhaferi names, and kick the camera equipment.

- It was impossible to calm them down. I pulled back and tried to calm down everyone, while trying to get myself and my colleague out of there. I become very anxious and have a feeling that the situation is going to pop. That's when a guy throws a stone at us.

The stone strikes the ground. What the film is not showing is that they also got coffee poured over them. Valentina Xhaferi says she shouts at them that it's not okay. Then she and the cameraman is forced to grab their equipment and flee the scene.

A week later, they went back and recorded the report in the company of policemen.

- I do not take it personally, but I think it's really bloody bad not to be able to make a recording in a public place. That we must be protected by police, says Valentina Xhaferi.

Police estimates that there are around 55 such no-go-zones in Sweden already, and with the current out-of-control Muslim immigration to Sweden, there will be more, and they will be larger, until Sweden is a no-go-zone.

Migrants REFUSE free luxury holiday homes with own swimming pool because they're TOO RURAL

A GROUP of migrants relocated to Sweden have refused to get off a government bus because their new luxury homes were more rural than expected.

The homes have access to a heated pool, sauna and restaurants - making them a popular attraction among native Swedes.

Some of the group reportedly slept overnight on the bus as they travelled to Äråbadet, a popular Swedish holiday spot.
The desperate Swedish government has transformed the destination to cope with a surge of 190,000 arrivals expected this year.

Poland deserves more attention in Britain – and not just because so many Polish people live and work in this country. Since David Cameron is seeking to change Britain’s EU membership, the balance of power and opinion in a significant member like Poland matters.

The victory of Poland’s Law and Justice Party is not an unqualified positive for Mr Cameron, since the party is strongly committed to EU rules that allow some of our Polish visitors to claim British benefits for children who have never set foot in this country, an unacceptable situation Mr Cameron has rightly promised to end.

But the wider message of the election is welcome, because of what it reveals about Poland’s attitude to the centralising European Franco-German “project”. The EU recently forced Poland to accept a quota of Syrian refugees, something firmly against the wishes of the Polish people, who have now dismissed the government which accepted that quota. Poles want a government driven by Poland’s national interest, not a supranational project designed in Paris, Berlin and Brussels. Law and Justice is also understandably cool on joining the euro and rightly concerned that eurozone nations should not dictate to those with the good sense to retain their own currencies.

Poland’s election has put another nail in the coffin of the misguided notion of an “ever-closer union” for all the EU’s members. It signals a growing appetite for a multi-speed Europe where members can participate in – or abstain from – the programmes and policies that suit them, without pressure to integrate. Such flexibility is surely required if Britain is to remain a member. The EU establishment should listen to the Poles.

Mehrere Kampffahrzeuge und Militärtechnik des US-Militärs sind für Übungen auf dem estnischen Stützpunkt Tapa stationiert worden. Darunter seien vier Abrams-Kampfpanzer und zehn Bradley-Schützenpanzer, teilten die Streitkräfte des baltischen EU-Landes am Montag mit. Tapa ist nur gut 100 Kilometer von der russischen Grenze entfernt. Auch in Litauen sollten neue rotierende US-Einheiten mit schwerem Militärgerät eintreffen.
Russland und die USA haben am Montag zudem erneut über Syrien beraten: Das russische Außenministerium teilte am Montag mit, Minister Sergej Lawrow habe mit seinem US-Kollegen John Kerry erneut telefoniert. Bei dem dritten Gespräch in den vergangenen Tagen sei es darum gegangen, andere regionale Regierungen in den politischen Prozess einzubeziehen. Das russische Präsidialbüro erklärte später, auch Staatschef Wladimir Putin und der saudi-arabische König Salman hätten miteinander telefoniert. Thema seien ebenfalls Vorschläge zur Lösung der Krise in Syrien gewesen.
Der stellvertretende russische Außenminister Michail Bogdanow sagte, Vertreter der oppositionellen Freien Syrischen Armee (FSA) hätten Moskau etliche Male besucht. „Ja, sie waren hier, auch in dieser Woche“, zitierte ihn die Agentur Interfax. Lawrow hatte angekündigt, sein Land sei bereit, der FSA mit Luftangriffen im Kampf gegen Extremisten zu helfen. Die Rebellen sind offen für eine Kooperation mit Russland.
Die politischen Bemühungen um eine Lösung des Konflikts haben sich seit einer Reise Assads nach Moskau in der vergangenen Woche intensiviert. Am Freitag trafen sich die Außenminister Russlands und der USA mit ihren Kollegen aus Saudi-Arabien und der Türkei zu Syrien-Gesprächen in Wien. Am Wochenende forderte Lawrow die Syrer auf, Parlaments- und Präsidentenwahlen vorzubereiten.
Der Außenminister des Oman erörterte am Montag in Damaskus mit Assad Möglichkeiten für eine Beilegung des Konflikts. Oman könnte Diplomaten zufolge eine Vermittlerrolle zwischen Syrien und den Gegnern Assads einnehmen, zu denen neben den USA auch andere Golf-Staaten gehören.
