  • Cameron warns Pakistan over insurgent funding

BANGALORE: British Prime Minister David Cameron said Wednesday that Pakistan must not “look two ways” in Afghanistan by publicly working to stabilise the country while secretly funding insurgents.
US documents leaked to Internet whistleblower site WikiLeaks this week accuse Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of secretly helping the Afghan insurgency.
“It's unacceptable for anything to happen within Pakistan that's about supporting terrorism elsewhere,” Cameron told BBC radio during a trip to India.
“And it's well documented that that has been the case in the past and it's an issue that we have to make sure that the Pakistan authorities are not looking two ways,” he added.
He said there had been “big progress” by Pakistan in fighting militant groups, which had improved relations with Afghanistan, “but we need to see that progress continue.”
India, a regular target for militant groups based in Pakistan, slammed the new evidence of official Pakistan involvement in funding militancy.
“Sponsorship of terrorism, as an instrument of policy, is wholly condemnable and must cease forthwith,” an Indian foreign ministry spokesman said late Tuesday.
India has also long been concerned that billions of dollars of military aid given to Pakistan to help fight militants on its territory is misdirected to insurgents, or funds defence programmes designed to counter India.
“I am going to discuss with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the leakage of funds given to Pakistan by the US and UK,” Cameron told reporters in Bangalore.

firstly cameron is in India to gain business contracts, make loadsa money of Indians due to there huge population etc. So it's obvious he is gonna lick a$$ whilst there. Basically say anything that the Indians want to hear.

Secondly why all this fuss from wikileaks? Some of you guys assume that the wiki documents came down from god with the TRUTH. LOL. All they're is USA field reports of what they believe is happening etc. Remember how reliable they can be: take iraqs imaginary weapons of mass destruction lol.

One thing which angered me was when some report in wikileaks talked about how afghan army had gathered on khost border to attack Pakistan tribal areas. Which I was like they wish they can attack Pakthunkhwa. ...really they wish.

no one listened to you when you and others said they were terrorist state.
Majority of Pashtuns now know know about the fact that Pakistan itself is involved in terrorist activities, i.e., sponsoring terrorism inside Pashtun land and afghanistan but they are helpless. This needs organised political efforts to get rid of the situation. But even nationalistic politics isn't easy these days. It's all about the world now how they tackle Pakistan and its secret agencies.

That report is not wrong, I was in Afghanistan at that time. Majority of the Pashtun provinces anounced their support for any type of action taken against Pakistan. Specially, Paktia, Paktika and Khost.

Ayub are you trying to defend Pakistan that it's not a terrorist state? All these reports should be dismissed?

These wiki leaks is just another sustained effort from imperialistic powers to weaken isi and Pakistan. Especially as recently Pakistan and Afghanistan have become closer..which obviously worried the 'others'...it is simply another deflection of failure of countries involved in this war.

These leaks are obviously not possible without CIA etc knowledge. It's just a gameplan to put a tighter noose around corrupt pak government who already lay down and obey every US command.

The closer to the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan the more such apparent leaks will be found.

A classic let's blame the Pakis for our failures. Out of all the 10's of thousands of doocuments released why is the world media only homing in on isi. Quite bizarre really.

the whole world knows the double game played by pakistan its as if you are stuck in the 70s when zia ul haq was alive lol

everybody even iran is pointing the figure at PAKISTAN for being a terrorist factory of the world.

these accusations are well founded and supported but pakistan in return arrest these leaders and then release them afterwards.

Its not as if its new news we all know the double game played by Pakistan and ISI but its only a matter of time before things get real hot and we will see how long pakistan lasts.

                        Kind Regards

Ayub see the point of a discussion and point of view is to substantiate it. Now here is the thing, the person who is considered the founder of wikileaks (if not a key member), Julian Assange, is basically in deep trouble. He has himself asserted that his life is threatened in US. Here check this article

Pentagon rushes to block release of classified files on Wikileaks - Americas, World - The Independent

Wikileaks, if it was a CIA front, then just a few things:
                            - prove it or at least show a cogent scenario.
                            - US already pays for 1/3rd of ISI's budget.
                            - US has been backing Pakistan for the past 60 years, so it does have an invested interest in it.
                            - You act as if Pakistan is not weak already or as if ISI are some great entity.
                            - Who told you the world is only after ISI? In fact the reports goes into more detail and puts a lot of blame on the coalition forces. The ISI part is highlighted because it basically proves what has been known by many, that ISI is playing a double game. It is like "I hate to say I told you so..."

Can you please enlighten us on these business contracts? Trade is a two-way street, and both are going to benefit, India is part of BRIC anyways, so they have their cards right where they need them. India always had a huge population, why didn't they lick their behinds before? This is an odd view of politics. India doesn't need Britain to placate them, and neither does Britain need India to do so as well. Their interests are mostly mutual, and Britain is no longer the playmaker in the region. Basically it really doesn't matter what Cameron thinks, he is running a coalition government with a country whose economy is a basket-case. When Russia, China, or US speak on these issues, then we an say who is licking whose backside, since they actually influence policy there.
