Mulla Omar orders halt to attacks on Pak troops

If this was true why didn't the army go after him in the initial phases? Fazllullah ussed to give public messages and everybody in Swat and adjoining areas knew who he was. He was not a fugitive but rather a known man with known radio speeches. The army HQ was very near to the HQ of fazllulah. In fact if they were so sure where is there proof? I have yet to see one set of proof. Second of all, if RAW wanted to create someone to start disruption in Pakistan, why didn't they go for the heartland of Pakistan, Panjab and Lahore? Do you think India can just set up shop in Swat, where it is logistically tougher to make it work than say Qibaeel or Panjab or Siindh? The disruption of Fazllulah is a fault of Pakistani policy, they have basically bungled it and were caught de-panted, so now they have changed the narrative.Last edited by BLS_1919v2.0; 07-26-2010, 06:40 PM.

Those are done by sectarian militant groups, all well established in south Panjab. Those are basically two different beasts. They fact that they have allied with one another is a different thing. Like I told you basically Pakistan's policy bungled and now they have been depanted.Originally posted by JasmineHave you not read about the recent bombings in Lahore, Punjabi province? It makes sense to me why they would start with Pakhtunkhwa first since its not governed as well as Punjab is. correct me if I am wrong but about 60 percent of the Pak Army is located in Punjabi. Destabilization does not have to begin with the heartlands. A military occupation would.

These Talks were merely a friend-of-a-friend chit-chatting with the enemies friend-of-a-friend in another country, namely KSA. They were by no means official nor did they have any real delegates. From all the reports, the only member from the shura that showed any potential interest in such talks was Mullah Baradar, which explains why and how the Pakistani secret service was able to locate, capture and facilitate his transfer to US custody. The only real chatter that has taken place was indirect and with a UN representative called Kai Eide, all negotiations were halted once Baradar was arrested and Kai Eide was replaced.Originally posted by Levanaye Zalmaye View PostMullah Omar comes under Pakistani influence because his entire network was housed and protected here. Talks between the Quetta Shura and the Karzai government, brokered by Saudi Arabia (peace be upon them) and supported by Pakistan and the United States, have been taking places since 2008. Mian Nawaz Sharif played a vital part in that mediation effort. Mullah Omar is very pleased with Pakistan, despite having a few pawns tortured.
More official talks have happend between Hekmatyar and western governments in the Maldeves (ironically Hekmatyar now classifies himself as a Taliban - Strange, since he was fighting the Islamic Emirate when it existed). The only thing he has in common with the Taliban movement of Mullah Omar is the expulsion of foreign forces. Now, since Hekmatyar calls himself Taliban and the western media believe it, this is were the story gets its legs from and the media jumps on the story thinking the core members of the initial movement are sitting at the negotiating table ready to do a deal.
Agree. The Islamists in Pakistan, in their ignorance, claim that there's no difference between any Taliban faction and that they are all one. The truth is that 'Taliban' is a mere blanket-term for a whole bunch of groups who operate in different areas for different areas
I dont agree with the india bit but lets talk about what's relevant...If India can support the Baloch insurgency in retaliation to Pakistan's support for militants in Kashmir, I see no reason why the Mehsud Taliban cannot get outside support, which they are getting. Moulvi Nazir, the Hekmatyaar group
Mullah Nazir, Hafiz Gulbhadar, and Haqanni have close ties with the old school Pakistani military from their days in the russian conquest. Rest assured the patience of these old school commanders is running thin though and I predict that they are preparing themselves for an incoming ground conquest, similar to that done on S. Waziristan.
Musharaff attempted to purge these old hats during his dictatorship and has somewhat suceeded. Hence you have seen a ramp up of drone attacks inside previously non-hostile areas such as N. Waziristan that have killed scores of Jalaluddin Haqqani's family including 8 of his grandchildren and extended family members such as aunts etc.
Uzbeks are under the leadership of Tahir Yoldoshev and are allied with the maseeds. They have been fighting in S. Waziristan against Pakistan forces and are considered some of the fiercest fighters. Keyani made it his specific aim to remove them since they have been disrupting the supply lines and have been a thorn in the side of NATO when they were active in Afghanistan and now in the side of the Pakistani security forces.as well as the Uzbek forces in North Waziristan are there on the behalf of the Pakistani agencies.
Just putting things into perspective.Last edited by KhyberKhan; 07-26-2010, 07:06 PM.

Uzbek Mujahideen in Pakistan has made Pakistan hell for Pakistanies.
@ khyberkhan
Hekmatyar doesn't consider himself or his party to be a part of Taliban. They have killed around 30 Taliban fighters since last week in central Afghanistan, they also lost 10 men.
Hekmatyar's party is probably more anti-Taliban than the Karzai administration.

I know that, and you know that, but when it comes to western reporters he tells him other than that. Hekmatyar has given the impression that his fighters fight alongside the taliban and therefore it has made him a man the west has been trying to influence for some time now. Listen to the intro carefully...Originally posted by Zarawar View Post

That's not that case anymore, there are videos of him praising Taliban and claiming to be fighting alongside them, those were recorded prior to what's going on.
The Taliban doesn't look at Hezb as their partners, and neither does the Hezb e Islami. Because, Taliban disarmed many of their fighters, and here we are they are fed up with it also.

That could be the reason also, but why would they try to disarm and oppose subjects that are fighting the same enemy?Originally posted by JinkayZarawar they do that on purpose to make the west frightened that the enemy is strong and large.
Also, Taliban and HIG has fought before (prior to 2001)
Something has to be not right, there is a lot of foreign influence and hands mingled in these issues....

I find it very amusing how members here are trying to divert truth into sheer clear false disinformation. Take the TTP into consideration.
In my Watan called Waziristan there are two factions of the Mahsud Taliban.
One is led by Hakeemullah Mahsud and the other by Misbaudeen Mahsud(Abdullah Group). One is Anti Pakistan on relgionous grounds and the other is Pro Pakistan. Both are slaughtering eachother in DI Khan,Tank, Jandola and parts of Waziristan.
If these guys who strong committed Anti American and Anti Nato Taliban groups can slaughter eachother on disagreements, Iam sure taliban and H Islami group are killing eachother without any doubt. It has become a fashion with Pashtuns and being reality deniers to save their reputation.
Kind Regards

A famous British Military commander once said on discovery channel lol
that a real and successful military commander always puts logistics first.
Most of Talibans logistics comes through Pakistan. If Pakistan was sincere they would block it just as they did to the Pashtuns in Kurram and South Waziristan when they blocked the region and put an embargo on them.
Taliban need food, resources and equipment and these things do not get sent to them from the Sky or by the Weather.
Its all a Dirty Political Game going on and its only gullable people who get deceived in the game and get turned into Political Zombies following these delusions.
Kind Regards

Well to be honest, Taliban doesn't need to rely on Pakistan's financial support as they used to.Originally posted by MazloomYarMasud View PostSome people think Money grows on Trees.

Because, the international Jihadi donors have stepped up donations for the Afghan resistance groups.
Not to mention, the opium money, ransom (kidnapping) money, Ghaneemat (logistics attacked) and most importantly the Russians, Chinese and the Persians have stepped in.
Regardless, I'm pretty sure their movement is closely monitored by the Pakis, because their Shurahs are all performed on Pakistani soil.

In our village, whether its a road construction company and even the security forces that escort the food and logistics supply for the NATO, has to pay like 20-30% of their sums to the local rebels
According to a report I read in the western media, around 4 $ million dollars in cash goes into different insurgents groups on weekly bases. That's true, I have seen their deals with my own eyes.
