Correct me if i am wrong though.
    - The Taliban are based in Pashtun areas so naturally have predominantly Pashtun soldiers but are they a Pashtun nationalist movement?

    - Ideology

Extreme interpretation of Deobandism which comes from central India.

    - Education/Indoctrination

This is done in Pakistan including in the madrassas of Punjab and Karachi.

    - View of Pashtun history.

The Taliban are not interested in Pashtun history including figures such as Ahmed Shah Abdali or Khushal Khattak Khan, for them such figures are irrelevant.

    - Attitude towards Pashtun nationalists.

They hate them and kill them including ANP members and leaders.

    - View towards Pashto literature and language.

No interest, or hostility towards certain aspects of Pashto literature and poetry they find too secular or liberal.

*The Taliban are not a natural outcome of indigenous Pashtun culture but are a relatively recent artificial product whose growth has been heavily promoted by external sources (Zia/ISI's deobandization programme) and whose ideology and indoctrination is from outside the Pashtun Hewad (Watan/motherland) in a foreign language, Urdu, e.g. in Deobandi madrassas.

They are not a product of jirga or mashwera conducted in Pashto in Pakhtunkhwa.

They are a product of extremist Deobandi ideology taught by Punjabi/Mohajir teachers conducted in Urdu in Punjab and Karachi.

The Taliban are enemies of Pashtuns and Pashto.

1.Islam comes from Arabia, are you an Arab slave?

2.All schools, especially funded by outsiders be it American, Arab or Paki are directly funded for indoctrination.

3.Proof? And what proof do you have that these figures are relevant by the current gov't? Pictures on walls that foreign kaffir conveys drive by in their armored vehicles do not count.

        4. Look at these nationalists, I have never heard of a real nationalist that supports another nation occupying theirs. There has never been a real Pashtun nationalist movement in Afghanistan so lets look at the ones in Pakistan. They have been close to the Pakistani government for decades, also involved in government while always supporting occupation forces in Afghanistan. These are nationalists? lol

        5. Even I don't agree with the Taliban stance on language but I find this part especially funny because they made Pashto mandatory in government but the "nationalists" are always looking to nit pick even though if the communists did this, they would be salivating.

        6. Show me one Afghan government besides Abdali's which was founded by Jirga lol and even then, is a group of former Mujahids electing an Emir not a Jirga? So these days an election is only possible if its under some tent in Kabul paid by American tax payers? so again back to language, so these guys were taught in Urdu yet dominate Afghanistan with Pashto and upset the "nationalists" who's areas are dominated by Urdu. Amazing.

        7. You are not Afghan or Pashtun. Don't talk about things which you have a pedestrian knowledge about.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Cathay cancels Karachi flights as Pakistan reviews security

          BY SYED RAZA HASSAN

KARACHI, Pakistan, June 11 Wed Jun 11, 2014 2:08pm IST

(Reuters) - Cathay Pacific Airways has cancelled all flights to the Pakistani city of Karachi from Bangkok following a Taliban raid on the country's busiest airport this week, as top Pakistani officials debated how to tackle the escalating violence.

International flights in and out of Karachi have been suspended twice since Sunday, when gunmen wearing military uniforms stormed the airport, firing rocket-propelled grenades in an all-night siege that killed 34 people.

"We will continue to monitor the situation closely," Cathay said in a statement. "Customers are recommended to check flight status before departing for the airport."

Cathay Pacific shares were down 0.28 percent in mid-afternoon trade on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

In Islamabad, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting with security officials late on Tuesday to discuss how to handle the crisis as the escalation of violence raised the prospects of an all-out army campaign against insurgent strongholds.

The Pakistani Taliban, a loose alliance of insurgent groups united by anti-state Jihadist ideology, said they had carried out the Karachi attack in response to strikes on their positions on the Afghan border.

Pakistan's air force has periodically bombed Taliban hideouts in the ethnic Pashtun belt straddling the border, but has yet to mount a major ground offensive there.

Security was tight around Karachi airport and the bustling and chaotic city of 18 million people remained nervous after the twin attacks, though life had seemed to return to normal, with shops and markets open and people going about daily tasks.

"It looks like the Taliban have taken over the entire country," said Mohammad Gulfam, who owns an electrical appliances shop in Karachi.

"What we want is that the army should carry out a big operation to clear out all the country, so that the public can get some peace of mind."

Sunday's assault destroyed prospects for peace talks between the Taliban and the Sharif's government after months of failed attempts to engage the al Qaeda-linked militants in dialogue on how to end years of violence.

The Pakistani Taliban are allied with the Afghan militants of the same name and share a similar jihadist ideology.

But they operate as a separate entity, focused entirely on toppling the Pakistani state and establishing strict Islamic rule in the nuclear-armed nation, whereas the Afghan Taliban are united by their campaign against invading foreign forces.

          - If there is another attack on Karachi airport what will happen?

          - If international airlines eventually suspend flights to Karachi - the biggest city - in the federation then Pakistan cannot be called a properly functioning country i.e. a failed state as planes carry important supplies and also allow foreign investors and other VIPs to travel to southern Pakistan via Karachi.

          - With the Pakistan army bombing Waziristan heavily now their ground assault will come soon and the TTP reaction will be even fiercer. We may see more attacks with even worse impact than the airport attack.

Uzbeks of IMU are independent from TTP , they are not members of taliban shura. There is operational cooperation between two. Arabs, chechens etc were never part of Taliban to begin with, they were their guests who are mostly hunted down by ISI and FBI, they were only relevant in initial years. The only non-pashtun wing of TTP , which is/was part of their shura, is punjabi taliban led by asmatullah mauvia.

More than 6500 people from North Waziristan have crossed the Durand Line to find refuge in Khost. Some of the people have been accommodated by locals and others have set up tents under the open sky. One refugee from Waziristan spoke to Azad Radio about their new life of need and helplessness:

“My name is Bashir. We have come from village Darpakhel, Miranshah. We came along with our families. We are seeking asylum in Afghanistan due to fighting in Waziristan. We are currently staying in a desert in Marmandai area of Khost. There is no cool water. We take hot water from there. Our kids are sick and the heat is too much for them. We request people to send us some cool water to drink or send us other such items [food]. We request local people not to object if we release our cows and other livestock to graze in the fields [pastures].”

** THE PAKISTAN ARMY HAS OFFICIALLY DECLARED AN OPERATION AGAINST MILITANTS IN NORTH WAZIRISTAN **

                  - So far Imran Khan has not yet commented on this. No one knows if he will support this potentially disastrous move.

                  - After years of speculation the Pakistan army has finally decided to attack North Waziristan.

                  - The Pakistan army decided to carry out a similar operation in 1971 in the then east Pakistan and they were defeated and humiliated in the biggest mass surrender of soldiers in the modern era.

The ghost of "east Pakistan" continues to haunt the brutal and traitor Pakistan army.

Defeated and humiliated, after months of raping and massacring the traitors of the Pakistan army surrender in a free Bangladesh.

Traitors!! Soldiers of the Saudi-backed Pakistan army who betrayed Islam and the Muslim ummah by violating the rules of Islam on the sanctity of Muslim life and Muslim women by raping innocent Bengali Muslim civilian women and girls, defeated.

                  - The traitor Pakistan army after having carried out massacres of Muslims in Bangladesh and Balochistan is now thirsty for more blood and carrying out on an offensive against its own citizens in Pakhtunkhwa.

                      Update.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government led by Imran Khan's PTI will not provide support for this operation i.e. the PTI and Imran Khan are against the operation.

A few Pakistani nationalists on the notorious hate-site defence.pk are calling for possible use of nuclear weapons.

Also on another site, a Pakistani nationalist called for nuclear weapons to be used in Waziristan.

6 months of no strikes or drones did nothing to stop these vermin – their only goal is takeover of the country and everything else is a diversion to build up to that goal. I think the army is still too soft on them, it should separate FATA from Pakistan (where the writ of govt doesn’t exist anyway) and nuke it into oblivion.

The Pakistanis had no nuclear bomb in 1971 when Bangladesh won its independence but they did the next thing which was genocide, which included huge massacres and organized sex camps and mass rape.

Would the traitor Pakistan army use the nuclear bomb on Waziristan?

Well it would be Pakistan nuking Pakistan and making these idiots even more of the laughing stock of the world than they already are.

The question now is the militants reaction?

                      1. This is not just an anti-TTP strike but a strike on Hafiz Gul Bahadur's forces who have support from tribesmen including their blood brothers and kinsmen in Afghanistan.

To attack a militant group is one thing but to attack a tribe of Pakhtoons (and Karlani Pakhtuns at that) is something completely different.

                      2. The militants also have many supporters and moles inside the Pakistan army itself.

                      3. Worst case scenario is we could see an ISIL style scenario with the militants (TTP + IMU + Haqqanis + Hafiz Gul Bahadur's Waziri tribesmen) going for Islamabad the way ISIL is trying to go for Baghdad.

Islamabad, just across the Margala Hills and easily accessible for the militants who have many sympathizers and spies in the Pakistani army.

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Army – in the wake of terror threats – was deployed at key state installations in Islamabad on Sunday.

Over 250 personnel of two companies of the Pakistan Army started performing duties at sensitive installations including the President House, the Prime Minister’s House, Parliament Lodges and Diplomatic Enclave located in the Red Zone.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Interior Affairs had decided to hand over internal security of Islamabad to army following reports of the intelligence agencies which issued security warning of possible terrorists' attacks in the federal capital.

The reports said that the security has been beefed up to thwart the possible backlash of bombing targeting militants in Waziristan. Islamabad has been on high alert since attack on the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

Achakzai, Asfandyar and Sherpao are all very quiet.

"Pashtun nationalist leaders", Achakzai and Asfandyar Wali.

On another facebook page there is a Pashtun very angry at the bombing of north Waziristan and the killing of women and children:

I can't paste what he said because in his anger he uses "strong" language.

                              - The Taliban is threatening foreign companies and investors to leave Pakistan.

It also condemned the "Punjabi establishment" and made threats regarding "Islamabad" and "Lahore".

How do you consider an ideology which supports foreign occupation in Afghanistan and Pak military war in FATA/KP as a nationalist movement? . No record in history of such a contradiction and it defies the very definition of nationalism.

Would you term Bangladeshis who supported the Punjabi war/occupation of Bangladesh as nationalism, and not the Bangladeshis who won their independence?
