CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): The Taliban have publicly executed a young man on the charge of supporting the government in western Ghor province, an official said on Wednesday.
The rebels shot dead Firoz in front of a crowd on Tuesday evening, two days after the 20-year-old was seized from the Somak area of Dawlatyar district.
Ghor crime branch chief, Col. Noor Ali Asir, told Pajhwok Afghan News the man was killed on the charge of supporting the government, but he was an ordinary citizen.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Elsewhere in Ghor, militants forcibly snatched away 1200 sheep from three shepherds and detained them in Ghalmin area on the outskirts of Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital.
A resident of the area, Abdul Khaliq Haidari, said the militants moved the sheep and the shepherds to Charsadda district. He said the Taliban had warned of similar actions against those supporting the government.
“Taliban torture people in different ways. Now they have started seizing sheep of civilians,” said Haidari, who asked security officials to protect livestock owners from insurgents.
The Ghor crime branch chief said the Taliban had shifted the stolen sheep to Korkin area of Charsadda district, where the government’s writ did not exist.
