    Kushan,
Islam preaches to care about innocent life whether in afghanistan, america or anywhere else. When you say who cares, your actually giving in to the people that want the conflict and misery to spread. If Americans dont care about innocent afghan women and children getting killed, it does not mean you should lower yourself to people like that.

two wrongs don't make a right. because people are dying in drone attacks and whatnot, it doesn't mean we should be okay with others setting off pressure cooker bombs in boston to kill innocent civilians. it's wrong to justify someone purposely harming another human being regardless of where they come from. oppose to injustice with a clean and unbiased heart. it's not about getting even with people, it's about what is wrong and what is right. nothing can or should justify our innocent people getting killed. don't make it seem otherwise.

I don't know what reasons these guys have had and why this happened, and really don't want to make theories or say they are inocent...
But i told it to explain that if they were innocent in explosions still they could do such actions.
I thought these guy were immigrants not completely grown in the USA..?!
I agree with you on some of these points, for example if I'm innocent and people are trying to pin something on me I will fight back, if someone is shooting at me then like most people I would shoot back. I remember once I was waiting for a train from London to Birmingham and some guy walked past with his girlfriend then he started to pick a fight with me for looking at his girl, I didn't even acknowledge his girl at all but because he was picking a fight with me and not going away shouting etc I had to puch him I had no choice.

Just what I predicted on PF even before the first brother got killed, the second brother is coincidently silenced from shooting himself in the throat and may never be able to speak, the media is making it out that "he will never be able to communicate" i agree though because even though he has hands it's not like he can speak to defend himself anymore and the general public is never going to know what he writes is actually his writing.

wasn't he a medical student? I'm sure someone studying anything medical would know the basic way to end ones life. What happened to shooting himself in the head? Why throat?.

Also, I'm not saying these two are innocent but if it was some elaborate plan they made then what the hell were they doing in the country in the same city after it all happened, surely they would have made a better get away plan than a wild shootout and hiding in a boat.

None of them can now speak up in court, seems so convenient.

I agree with you fully, but many people don't see it that way unfortunately. Caucasian people are very hot headed, that has very positive and very negative issues.
Very positive were for example the Abrek people. very negative are people killing pople for nothing than empty proudness.

              Tjanaparh,

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for you to educate us on the historical aspects of what is going on in the caucases region. From what I understand this is a very historical matter going on between slavic and caucas folks way back into the Tsarist era even before the Ottoman's arrived on the scene.

The experts like Peter Bergen keep trying to say, without much merit, that because these two grew up a portion of their life here in the US that the history/conflict had no impact. I beg to differ mainly because its sort of an elementary concept taught even in 12th grade government class that the major factor influencing people's political party affiliation is their parents' affiliations:

              http://www.thesouthend.wayne.edu/new...e8321843d.html

"Dr. Dallas M. Stout, a California State University, Fullerton Dept of Counseling faculty member, said that he has found that people traditionally take one of two routes in forming their political views.
The first route is essentially adopting the dominant political views held by parents and family (Dad was a Democrat so I am, too), whereas the second route, conversely, is to form opinions in reaction to parents or family (Dad was a Democrat so I am a Republican), according to Stout."

Could we get any references for good reading and any background from your vantage point on what is going on in that part of the world.

If nothing else comes of this horrible tragedy, peace loving peoples world round should try and understand one another.

Here is one of the latest policy papers I could find:

              http://aei.pitt.edu/6612/1/1216_68.pdf

Here is an article from the Washington Times:
              http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...-8404r/?page=1

I look forward to your response.

Putin/Yeltsin tried the hardcore approach of retaking Grozy and used brute force resulting in the spillage of this conflict into other slavic regions. That will likely now intensify and create even further discord in the region.

The other thing that makes this utterly idiotic is that Boston is the bastion of northern democratic liberalism which generally has been rather friendly toward attempting to understand the historical bases for the conflicts the US finds herself in. These people are generally learned people who are trying to understand their counterparts around the world.

That being said, life is sacred everywhere, whether it be in Boston (i.e. no one's life is worth more) Peshawar or elsewhere.

Michael Scheuer has a good section in his Imperial Hubris on the subject in the early pages of his book specifically regarding the Slavic regions and the Western tie in.

As many are America's enemies (perceived or real) so many are enemies of America. As America's response to its enemies is sometimes irrational so also the response of some of its enemies towards it is irrational. America should know a few fundamental things---

-that the world has become and is increasingly becoming a dynamic and hard place to be run and controlled by America alone
-that humans don't like masters no matter how benign-
-that America's foreign policy(which is fundamentally racist, supremacist) has caused and is causing a lot of suffocation/resentment around the world somewhere more somewhere less---

So to live in peace and let others live in peace America should allow a multilateral world to emerge which runs the world with some degree of justice---Now on the one hand when America backs the despicable SA monarchy but on other admonishes the relatively democratic and liberal Iranian theocracy or Chinese one-party rule or Putin's dictatorship, that points to the hypocrisy and immorality of its foreign policy.

It is high time that America stops seeing its as the giver and the rest as the takers.

Or the atheist ikhwani agenda which appears to be an equal and opposite ferocious ideology that wreaked havoc in the region and continues to do so... vying on par with these folks to utilize outside forces to do their bidding.

Yes, but wouldnt you say that in history, the dynamics are not so dynamic?

In modern times we use the term "President" so as to camoflouge the drive towards what Bacevich refers to as an imperial executive that humans look to for leadership... etc etc

So whereas Alexander had his satrapies and could care less how Porus ruled so long as Porus obeyed his centralized rule... so to have other empires tried their own hand at such an approach.

In our modern era Pax Americana and the rest of the world are not so confusing when viewed in the light of historical norms.

Genghis Khan also had his Muslim subjects and tolerated local Muslim rulers to some degree so much as they understood who was boss.

Now the complexity of Pax Americana is based in its myriad interest groups and elites coupled to corporate interests that drive policy, sometimes to the deficit of the people here.

What I mean is, why should the Saudi monarchy not be seen as a tolerated Satrapy? Why would the Pak government and other alliances not be seen in a similar vein? So long as these folks do not impinge on National Security priorities and afford the stability of the Western economy why would you assume the US should act any different than its predecessor super powers?

Take for instance North Korea... it is rather obvious that the defense establishment weighs its priorities and views that particular state as a pariah that throws tantrums but ought not to be afforded anything but a series of drills so as to be ready should projected power in the Pacific be challenged.

I guess what I am saying is I am utterly surprised at how much your statement mirrors that of your religious adversaries who in the past have stated "If there is no security in their domain so too shall Westerners not experience security etc."

I guess the bottom line is that years ago, James Baker was given the option of making oil deals that would be mutually beneficial and would have allowed something of a progression of thought on the Saudi Peninsula. He scoffed at the notion and his adversaries recalled that moment in which he said something to the effect of "why would we make such a deal when the cost of oil will surpass 100 dollars on the barrell" and ironically that cost was surpassed due to raging conflict and the consolidation of OPEC anyway!

Toramana I guess what I am saying is that you should visit us here and transfer into a college to experience what I mean. There are myriad of interest groups from Code Pink to Conservatives to Radical Leftists to Feminists to Anti Feminists to Religoinists to Environmentalists to Power Projectionists to EThnic groups (e.g. the Iranian elite who left post Shah period) who form lobbies and petition the government to some degree. Chalabi and his INC gang are a great example of how effective this was in catalyzing (though not initiating) the drive to enter Iraq. Because of this, I think what you advocate will never be.

And has it ever been? Have super powers ever altered their trajectory in internal social adventurism and external power projection? In some ways the economic engine that is on auto pilot here can not sustain a turning of teh course.

You should see how visiitng physicians are utterly astounded at the fact that I can order nearly 30 echoes and MRIs in a day and that where they come from they must do rigorous clinical and physical exam and written justification to validate the utilization of these resources.

Spend one day with me and then one day with a Canadian physician and you will see the dramatic difference in Pax Americana internally and externally. Then travel back to the Hewad and see the dramatic difference there as well.

My friend irrespespective of our differences what I am saying is that its high time you and I realize we are but travelers and bystanders in this current phase of history. Forces much more powerful than you and I dictate the direction and affairs of her trajectory.

Perhaps one day we will write a book on our observations of culture and history here from the Muslim vantage point in the fashion and vein of Josephus or De Tocqueville:

                        http://books.google.com/books/about/...d=gTX-uSzS2fAC

I think it will benefit future generations as, lets face it, I find that no matter how well I speak the American vernacular and no matter how well I write in their prose I will always be seen as an outsider by some and even back in the watan, I am seen as an outsider. Therefore, I feel like I can write with a certain lack of bias and as a detached observer.

Think about it, 100 years from now and then 300 and 500 they will write of this era and its conflicts and phases and doldrums that have led to so much advancement staggerd with so much misery all at the same time. Fascinating dichotomy.
