the first thing is to understand the root of it. All this started when foreign presence came in so to get rid of it the foreign presence should leave and afghans are trying to do that, some are trying the peaceful approach and others are trying the violent approach.

So you mean to say that the peace loving afghans never had trouble till the NATO forces attacked? Before that during the time of the terrorist talibs, all was well? Or was it the Russians? Or Ranjit Singh? Before that Alexander the Great? Should we always blame invaders...

so you mean to tell me that the beheading and suicide bombings was always present. Should we always blame people who want to fight invaders. Do you think all people in this world are like who bend over. Dont get mad because people are different, you should accept the fact people are different.

          Leaevanay,

What actions and steps can afghans take. You sound like you have the perfect remedies but still no reply from you.

I cannot say about Afghanistan, but looking on the comunity abroad or in Afghans native areas that are part of Pakistan(as both categories are present here on PF), you need better consolidation and patriotism.
And to me for all sides.
The situation for You is too difficult to permit you politcal fractions, and philosophing about interpretations of religious dogmas, if you are basically in a big very unclear from all sides situation.
Would Pashtuns be my nation i would give everything to make people dissociate from all political and religious movements, as all seemed uneffective and painfull for the people.

At now you are enemies of your own, because you are insomehow indoctrinated one against the other in different ways, and how sweet some indoctrinations may be, they harm at least only Your people.
To resolve religious disputes and political disputes on what should be the future of Pashtun people firstly the chance is needed to decide it for your own, now this chance doesn't seem as given. So first sep to me would be a consolidation attempt.
sounds so easy, but is difficult so much that it seems impossible. I hope you manage it somehow.

I am long enough on PF to see that every of your fractions has good points and ideas, but so good they may be so few of you have the patience towards the other fractions. If you could only see yourself from side and unite....
And I am talking about You, useless to say tat an internetforum is a joke compared to the brutal reality.
But already being here you all could at least contribute to your people faith all together and using PF as a platform.

I also have to wonder always about one point, why Pashto is so minimally used by all of you here. apparently man of you know it, so why don't you limit english to talk to people like me?

              Tjanaparh; I agree!

khushal: its pregress in terrorism and the Zorawarthyi now is the form of Wahabist religious thinking... you start by fighting bare hands... then you pick up a lindha... followed by a topak, followed by kalashankof, and further, all in the name of religion. What has occupied us for the last 2 or more decades is not NATO forces but Wahabist pollution. Till this day an educated Pakhtun family is looked upon as weak. I think that is why Swat was an easy target for the terrorists to expand their polluted ideologies... there were no arms to defend themselves... now on the other hand the sister valley Dir or even Bunair had different outcomes but were outclassed in the political cunningness that the Punjab establishment supported(Commisionar whatever his name was).

Life/Existance is of compromises... you cannot always be right and even if you are you need to learn to give a little to get a lot. We think we have everythign solved and its always the fault of someone or something that had put us in the pathetic condition we are in. Its not.. its ours.. we need to evolve, we need to progress(how ever you want to interpret this) and most important of all, we need to be unite. Unification will NEVER happen if we continue to be mule headed.... khar ghairath oko no truck owahalo... that has become our example.... Might is not the answer to everything... neither is religious fanatism... we need to get the pollution of Arabinization adn Talibanization out of our culture and society. We were a Sufi based religious society.. now polluted with extremist wahabi thinking...

That is my thought and answer to all... you do not have to agree... I am content with that thought process and again that is all jsut me. Could I be wrong, certainly! Am willing to hear other view points but again that is my thought process.

they've killed one guy, and still looking for the other brother, my guess is they will kill the other brother aswel. I wouldn't even put it past them if they've already been killed, similar to how they killed Osama after 10 years of him already being dead.

This was a stupid thing to do both because of the loss of life and because of the fact that the true history of the Chechnyan seperatist process that spans over a century will now be clouded over in jargon that wont help the average person in Chechnya in any way whatsoever.

Putin/Yeltsin tried the hardcore approach of retaking Grozy and used brute force resulting in the spillage of this conflict into other slavic regions. That will likely now intensify and create even further discord in the region.

The other thing that makes this utterly idiotic is that Boston is the bastion of northern democratic liberalism which generally has been rather friendly toward attempting to understand the historical bases for the conflicts the US finds herself in. These people are generally learned people who are trying to understand their counterparts around the world.

That being said, life is sacred everywhere, whether it be in Boston (i.e. no one's life is worth more) Peshawar or elsewhere.

Michael Scheuer has a good section in his Imperial Hubris on the subject in the early pages of his book specifically regarding the Slavic regions and the Western tie in.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
