saudis are making the same mistakes as the americans but in different ways. saudis think that by exporting salafism it will make the kingdoms position stronger .the problem is that while most salafis are not a problem, the violent salafis may revolt against the kingdoms interests, may and have.

the americans are the same but for different reasons. there will be/has been a backlash against not merely american influenced programs, but the institutions and the figureheads that allowed the infiltration into the society.

the saudis and americans are tied at the hip. one cannot praise a building of a grand masjid while being anti america, and vica versa. this does not mean that these countries political and religious interests are the same as even if they allies, they are worlds apart. what they differ in religious ideology, they share in wastefulness. america spends billions in a place like kandahar for their security while the kandahar hospital is complete ****, its no different with the saudis in kabul.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Read Ahmad Shah Baba's tarikh. Its being translated from Persian into English, by translators in Kabul with potential release in the middle of next summer. My paternal uncle is translating it into Pashto.

In the tarikh, its is very well described that Shah Waliullah of India played a crucial role in MENTORING and in advising Ahmad Shah Abdali and in JUSTIFYING his invasion of India.

Read Mir Wais's history in which he went to hajj and got a fatwa from the Hejaz to justify initiating war against shiah occupation of Qandahar and fopr killing Gurgin.

The nationalist communists actually hate and abhor and attempt to dismiss Shah Waliullah's role because his son, Shah Abdul Aziz was the mentor of Syed Ahmad Barelvi.

And you talk continuously of leaders who care ONLY about the Afghan people. Well, then you must deal with the fact that in Ottoman records, there is preserved evidence of Ahmad Shah's concern for Uighar Muslims and their oppression in China. This is independently confirmed here in the history of the Chinese people:

Holy War in China, By Ho-dong Kim, pg. 20
      L. J. Newby The Empire and the Khanatep34
John K. Fairbank(1968) China and Central Asia, 1368-1884 In The Chinese World Order pp. 206–224, 337–68. Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard University Press.

This does not mean that he was stupid, got involved in too many things at once, or sacrificed the security of his people; but he was NO mostafa Kamal Ataturk.

These ARE FACTS abbasin, facts of history.

This is a balanced point. No one is praising the building or being anti American. It is the rank hypocrasy of the Zardarzaists (Karzaiists) that is revolting. On the one hand for years they railed and railed about Saudi influence in Mullah Omar's Afghanistan despite multiple princes leaving Kandahar empty handed when Saudi dissidents were not handed over. Now, they are aghast when they see that chrome dome boy in his green cape in Kabul has no qualms about the Saudi Walmart being built right next to his office. So instead of asking the touch questions about their decision and viewpoints regarding Karzai and the Western support and this center, they turn the discussion to the middle link of the chain - as if the Saudis just came over to Kabul, but a shovel in some sand and held Kabul's government hostage.

this mosque is being built for Afghan people not some losers living abroad preaching deislamization of the Afghan nation while using fancy words such as education, progress etc.

it reminds me of the new york "9/11 mosque" which also had such an opposition and guess what they too were using the wahabi card.

          get over yourselves.
somehow this mosque is going to feed all the poor..

No you understood me wrong. I said that Afghanistan was and is extreme even before the saudies. Our mullahs opposed the changes that Amanullah wanted, the changes that Daud wanted were also opposed by them, and also not to forget the changes that the communist regime wanted. The extremist were not foreigners they were Afghans, we always had extremists among our selfs. Its becuase our own society is extreme.

And no culture in the world supports men that burn down schools, only ours, the half of our society is being opressed and denied the basic rights since they are born. Even before the war when times were peacefull women were denied education in most parts of Afghanistan. Where the Saudies involved in tis too???

And by the way, Rabbani, Massoud, Dostum and Mullah Omar are made in Afghanistan they are the product of our own society. No saudie arab helped them to become like what they are now. They just helped them in term of supllies that I can't deny, but there mind and charakter is formed by them self and there upbringing, no outside brainwashing was needed.

Saudis fund $100m Kabul mosque, education centre

Saudis fund $100m Kabul mosque, education centre

To bolster influence with hilltop complex due to be completed 2 years after Nato exit

Riyadh Saudi Arabia is funding a $100m(Dh367,300 million) mosque and Islamic education centre in Kabul that will teach thousands of students a year and help bolster Saudi influence in Afghanistan as the west withdraws.

Work on the sprawling 30-hectare hilltop complex is due to be completed by early 2016, when Afghan security forces will likely be trying to hold off the Taliban with little Nato support.

“This Islamic centre has several aims, one is to ensure good relations between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia,” said the acting Saudi minister of Haj and Islamic affairs, Dr Dayi Al Haq Abed.

Afghanistan’s neighbours and allies have been jostling for power in the country for years; spending millions of dollars on aid, education, TV and radio channels.

Efforts to secure a stake in Afghanistan’s future are intensifying with the 2014 Nato withdrawal deadline looming, and a presidential election to chose the first new leader in more than a decade set for April that year.

But Abed said the centre was a decade-old project conceived by Saudi Arabia’s late King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, not a hasty effort to bolster the state’s role in Afghan affairs.

“It’s not a political centre, its an independent centre,” he told the Guardian. “This centre will never try to work against the interests of Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. It is firstly a place for prayer and secondly for education.”

A university with a library, lecture halls, gym and dormitories for 5,000 students will sit on a hill overlooking Kabul, next to the tomb of the last Afghan king, Mohammad Zahir Shah. The nearby mosque will hold up to 15,000 worshippers, making it one of the largest in the country.

Saudi Arabia has been one of the key players in the turbulent decades since the Soviet invasion at the end of 1979, influencing both religion and politics in Afghanistan.

After the rise of the Taliban, Saudi Arabia was one of only three countries to recognise the hardline regime, but since its fall in 2001 it has remained a generous donor to the western-backed government of Hamid Karzai. More recently it helped lay the groundwork for efforts to negotiate an end to the war. Saudi diplomats have kept a lower profile than others though.

The new centre will likely have a large pool of applicants. Religious schools mostly funded by private individuals and Saudi institutions have spread the kingdom’s strict Wahhabi branch of Islam inside Afghanistan and Pakistan and all Afghans hope to travel there on the hajj pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.

The Afghan government has donated the land, and basic engineering work is already completed. A joint committee of Saudi diplomats and Afghan officials from the ministry of Islamic affairs will oversee the centre once it is up and running.

“Its a big achievement for the Afghanistan government and the ministry of hajj and Islamic affairs,” Abed said, adding that he hoped it would pave the way for more Afghan students to further their education in Saudi Arabia.

well even if, at least I don't say I care about Afghans and then promote their murderers who come doing suicide bombs on mosques ...that is your forte, at least I think about alleviating their misery rather than tormenting them slowly as the Taliban do.

^Even if they gave the Money in aid for the poor.

Believe me it would never get to the poor.

American and Nato have done nothing, to help

                            the poor.

Instead they took away what ever shelter and

                            things they owned.

Leaving them homeless and poverty struck.

It would go into the pockets of those fat corrupt politicians,

who will then purchase more stuff in Dubai or the West.

                            Its a sick World.
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument.

I dont think its that. At least thats not my perspective. Rather, I think the rank hypocrasy lies onthe side of the northern alliance and Karzai supporters. They bragged and claimed that they would defeat terrorism and wahabism but yet they, and not the Taliban, have signed on for the mega mosque.

Once again, the Saudis did not just walk into Kabul without the papers and claim the territory with bayonets and guns. This was a deal struck up between them and the Kabul government.
