"The agreement was signed last week in Jeddah. The construction will start next year, in couple of months or so," Mr Abed confirmed, adding that the project will carry an estimated cost of between $45 million and $100 million.
Members of the Saudi and Afghan ministries of religious affairs will run the complex in a joint venture when construction is finally completed on the central Kabul project.
The centre will be comprised of a university, hospital, sports hall and a mosque with a capacity of around 15,000 worshippers.

    2 things here.

    1. 45-100 million could be used for a better purpose in afghanistan. do these saudis think we don't have masjids or something?

    2. if this "joint venture" means having saudi clerics or salafi influenced clerics, i am against it 100%.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

when saudi arabia funds a masjid, its best to be wary and ask questions.

We have enough Masjids already. Kandahar is full of Masjids, yet not a single proper educational institution. Seriously -- Health care, and education is where Afghanistan is struggling right now, visit the 2nd largest city and you can find a Masjid on every block, but when someone faints due to XYZ diseases, there is not enough beds or competent doctors to take care of him. I just feel like 100 million is just insane.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Clinics and Schools that teach science and math dont influence people as much as clerics that issue fatwas from the kingdom of Saud. There are a bunch of mosques build in KP named after princes and princesses that influence peoples mindset.

welll just wait , the deobandi teaching is not good enough today , now it

has to be the wahabi style with ibn albani and abdul ibn wahab.

and our mullahs are also not good enough , people like maiwand al afghani

will take their place and then some day in the future , the saudi haiwan will

be called khalif and ruler of the belivers.

sent them back , if it was up to me ,no saudi should be allowed ever to come to afghanistan ....

                  very nice
muslims will be glade for this this while hypocrites and seculerists losers will be ad because an Islamic center has been built.

this mosque is being built for Afghan people not some losers living abroad preaching deislamization of the Afghan nation while using fancy words such as education, progress etc.

it reminds me of the new york "9/11 mosque" which also had such an opposition and guess what they too were using the wahabi card.

                  get over yourselves.

how about you do something about it instead of parading against the mosque? why dont you tell your government to stop spending billions on killing afghans and build an education institute in kandahar offcourse not an indoctrinition center.

bare in mind i too would like this to be spend on something different like feeding the poor but if they want to spend it on a MEGA MOSQUE than be it.

I honestly was expecting a childish response like this, so not surprised. Firstly, I'm not 'parading' against a Mosque, read my post more carefully. Also, write the character M in Mosque capitalized. In Kandahar, you can certainly expect a sotay on your head for that. ;]

That's what I just did, read carefully.

I never said let's chop their heads off, Taliban style, because they are building a Mosque -- Let's not misconstrue what I said. I just voiced my suggestion. If Saudi wants to build 50 more Mosques, not much anyone can do. I just HOPE they realize what the Afghan priorities are, building Mosques is certainly not one of them, since they exist in tremendously large numbers already.

Agreed. There is always an agenda, and the Saudi dictators are known to spread extremism in the region -- while they are living life at large.

Anyone who finds this sheikh, threaten him,get his money.....if you are really a generous man give it to every province its part and not the government but among the population....or build hospitals, roads, universities, hire some teachers.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.
