laws are often created because idiots behave badly.
BTW khushal, you should go and remind obama that, it is thanks to the muslims and their slave trade that americans had those people to hang from those trees and that those african people and thereby the muslim slave traders helped create america. they should all be greatful, don't you think?

Left to the fanatic vultures, the innocent soul would be devoured alive. It is the secular law that is coming to her rescue.
If that was the case the Ikhwan Al Muslimeen would not have criticized the system of the Saudi regime.

How can you change society without changing the law of the society.
isn't it socity changes and the law follows?
eg: feminists and slaves refused to accept being submissive and longer and had supporters who helped fight against restrictive social mores and laws. then the laws changed to ban slavery and give more rights to women.
in oz, we used to be free to go camping all over the wilderness but morons started leaving fires burning and created big bushfires, and left trash everywhere. so then a law was enacted to stop such freedoms.

                1. Sometimes but not always. Sometimes the society demands the change. In pakistan there has been attempts to change the blasphemy law but it has been unsuccessful because the corrupt government has been too cowardly to challenge or confront the ignorance because they feel they need that ignorance to defend itself agaisnt India.

                2. Slavery was practiced for thousands of years. It was challenged not because of what you say that slaves refused to accept being submissive, they had refused that for thousands of years but to no avail. The slavery system was challenged by the industrial revolution which revolutionized the economics of society where slaves were no longer necessary.

in oz, we used to be free to go camping all over the wilderness but morons started leaving fires burning and created big bushfires, and left trash everywhere. so then a law was enacted to stop such freedoms.
A law was enacted to stop idiocity that was harmfull to society. I bet those morons will think twice before leaving a fire burning. The law changed the morons behavior right.

no, that was for the pakistani.

but I think Resistance already answered this question.

Dr Asad Ahmed, associate professor of anthropology at Harvard University, pointed out that the concept of blasphemy had been imported from the Judeo-Christian tradition into the Indian subcontinent and it had been a ‘very minor theme’ in Islamic law. “Blasphemy was a big issue in the England of the 1830s and the colonial architects of these laws were simply transferring English concerns onto an Indian audience,” he said. “It gave legitimacy to colonial rule to depict locals as excitable and irrational people who were highly sensitive to insults.”
Ahmed said that enabling ‘wounded sentiments’ to be the basis for a cause of action criminalised religious debate and became the basis of religious nationalism.ote]

i read that christians helped stop slavery but you wouldn't notice something like that. so basically the christiian societies had evolved to a degree where these behaviours became invalidated. once again you rely on economic conspiracy as the only reason for change or action.
you ignore the evolution of consciousness. so perhaps, the general population of countries that still have these archaic rules have to wait until the demand for
                    change is more prevalent.

australia was stolen and colonised as a penal colony dear, of course it hasn't stopped all of that behaviour. we are a rebellious lot. like your mob, we also don't like being told what to do.
it just makes it harder for the ones who do the right thing to be able to have that freedom as much as we did.

so what is with all the calling for murder of cartoonists and book writers/burners for blasphemy, by muslims. in afghanistan and pakistan this burning of qua'ran has been a big deal, even when the qur'ans had been faultily printed or when the paper was to be recycled. someone uses allahs name in vain?

It was the Industrial revolution Faye. To make you feel better the industrial revolution was started by Christians. The christian societies economies had evolved to a degree that slavery was no longer needed to sustain their economies. Economics have alot to do with how we live and how we behave.

like i don't know about economics and life.
whatever you want to believe khushal. i am not going on and on. you choose to believe in a limited idea of what reality is all about. your choice. i am not going to continue trying to convince you otherwise.
it is like alchemist thinking that everything is run by the zionists.

i believe there are many aspects to things including an evolution of consciousness. you are blaming things on the physical/economical, only.
