One Law For All: Shariah - Muslims Against Crusades
But the term afghan desnt relate to pashtuns only . So i would not prefer to be called an afghan.
That is true in essence, How can one say Afghan equals Pashtuns when Tajik and Hazaras also call themselves Afghan, so why do they tell us not to call Pashtuns as Pakistani, Since Pakistani means Punjab,Sindhi and Balochi.

You in a way answered your own question. If you know you are referred to as Afghan, it shouldn't matter after that. BTW even mr. mufakkr e pakistan called us Afghans in his famous speech to the All-india muslim league, so what is the fuss. Outside of Russia, a russian can be an ethnic Russian, a chechen, a dagestani, a tatar, etc. So what is your point? In order to have a functioning state you need to extend certain terminologies to the greater population. What do you think if you named a new state Pakhtunkhwa, what would the citizens be called? lolzz please be logical and keep things in context.
Well, what if a tajik and uzbek are called afghan as well.
same way tajiks and uzbeks must be related to tajikistan and uzbekistan.
But they call themselves afghans.

How do you differentiate yourself then ?
How does a chechen differentiate himself from an Ethnic russian or tatar? That is the way we do it. In Pakhtunkhwa, how do you differentiate between a gujjar and a Pakhtun? There is a difference between an ethnic Afghan and a citizen Afghan. They each have their place and context and at times overlap.

Splitting hairs gets us nowhere.
Take a look across the world, not all the people who live in Scotland are Scottish and so on. There are Scots dispersed across the world, and whatever nationality they may have, many often refer to themselves as Scots.
Closer to Pashtoons, we can take a look at how people describe themeslves just around us. Are all the residents of the Panjab, Panjabees? Are all the people who live in Balochistan, Balochis? Clearly not, though there may be valid reasons for a non-Panjabee etc. calling himself that.
Afghanistan, the country may extend the term Afghan to all its residents but an ethnic Uzbek outside Afghanistan with no ties to the country cannot call himself Afghan. Pashtoons, outside Afghanistan, on the other hand, can because historically, Pashtoon equals Afghan.
I live on arbab road in peshawar. farsiwaans call themselves afghans as well. They never called themselves anything else. so should i tell them i am afghan too ?
