yes sk, yvonne ridley. i found her stories to be intriguing and eye-opening, they encouraged me to delve deeper.

however she is a journalist (though so was that dutch woman...) and her treatment may have been different based on her company she was travelling with, and status and connections abroad.

If you are from Afghanistan, or if you have ever been in a country where there is a guerilla war goin on, you would know that when there is mass chaos and disorder and rebellion, there will be many small armed bands of criminals taking advantage of the situation.

There are thousands of instances from the past 10 years where men dressed like Taliban would stop cars, rob the passengers and sometimes even rape people.

I am from Kabul, my village is less than 10 kilometres away from the innercity. In our village in broad daylight, so called taliban come, while they are smoking weed and cigarettes with their faces covered taking money from the local shop keepers, threatening people.

This is sadly the way things are right now in Afghanistan. The same situation occured back in the 80's.

so if i dont know them then I have no right to ask you how you claim to the conclusion that the guy in question was in fact a taliban commander.

you do realize that in war, truth is the first casualty, therfore I must question everything.
