  • Zakir Naik banned from UK

Ohh mayn! =/ He was supposed to be coming here as well!

Indian preacher Zakir Naik is banned from UK

An Indian Muslim preacher has been banned from entering the UK for his "unacceptable behaviour", the home secretary says.

Zakir Naik, a 44-year-old television preacher, had been due to give a series of lectures in London and Sheffield.
Mr Naik is seen by some as an authority on Islam

Theresa May said that visiting the UK was "a privilege, not a right".

The home secretary can stop people entering the UK if she believes there is a threat to national security, public order or the safety of citizens.
That includes banning people if she believes their views glorify terrorism, promote violence or encourage other serious crime.

However, somebody cannot be banned just for having opinions that other people would find offensive.

Ms May said: "Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

"Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.
"Exclusion powers are very serious and no decision is taken lightly or as a method of stopping open debate on issues."

This is the first person who has been excluded from the UK since Ms May became home secretary last month.

Mr Naik is based in Mumbai (Bombay) where he works for the Peace TV channel.

The BBC's Sanjiv Buttoo says that he is recognised as an authority on Islam but also has a reputation for making disparaging remarks about other religions.

Peace TV itself describes him as "a medical doctor by professional training... and a dynamic international orator on Islam and comparative religion".

"Dr Naik clarifies Islamic viewpoints and clears misconceptions about Islam using the Koran," the channel's website says.

never heard of him, but the idiots probably made him even more famous..now even the britishers who never listened to him would look into his lectures, and if he is as good as you say he is, he should be able to turn some hearts

These guys still dont get it, this is how Islam spread..the more you try to supress it, the more closer it gets to your heart

The UK has the right to allow or disallow anyone....
People shouldn't complain. Apart from Turkey, no Muslim country in the world would allow Christopher Hichens, Hisri Ali or Richard Dawkins on their soil so they shouldn't complain when Zakir Naik was disallowed from entering the Kafir lands of England.

The more Muslims have blown up things, the more they have lost and the more the have proven the likes of George W. Bush right. They've also ended up in hell, where Satan does stuff to them that kids shouldn't know about.

You don't see something wrong with that, consider its secularism?
Hmm the UK hasn't declined his entrance on the basis of religion but on that of security (whatever that means in this case). So I don't think their secularism can be questioned here.

I don't believe the UK is afraid of mass conversions. 2.7% of the UK's population is Muslim, almost all of which is non-native. Thirty or so years have passed since the modern 'televangelist' Da'wa and preaching began (Deedat, Pat Robertson and the sort) and there are nearly tens times as many atheists and agnostics in the UK as there as there are Muslims (23% to 2.7%).

Oh and the UK is all about equality - they have an arrest warrant out for Tzipi Lvini!

lol like I said, "security" is such a blanket-term, it could mean just about anything... At best, the reason for his rejection can be termed as flimsy. My hunch is that he was not allowed to enter the UK because he very openly (without apologizing) says that Ahmedis are non-Muslims (and Ahmedis hold sway in the UK), apostates should be killed, Bush did 9/11, the Taliban were good, etc, etc.

Yes, they have a tv-channel going there as well. Plus, their holy prophet (my salutations and greetings be upon him) lives there.

I don't think there's any evidence of them buying politicians but I'm certain that as the 'Islamic' opposition to 'Islamic terrorist Salafism', they're in the UK's good books. Of course, my assumption wasn't that Naik's entry was rejected solely because of the Ahmedis but it could've been part of a whole bunch of reasons.

This is excellent news. This hate monger, extremely irrational and sectarianist(?) person should be banned in every country that wishes to sustain a harmonious inter-religious environment in thier socities.
And Moslems cannot play the 'What about the freedom of expression?' card here either. In almost all Moslem countries, ex-Moslems or even liberal Moslems don't have a genuine voice. In Pakistan, Ahmadis cannot even call themselves 'Moslems' or even 'act like Moslems' and cannot 'call their places of worship Mosques', and all this constitutionally and legally adopted by the state. This is suppression and religious prosecution in it's most extreme form. Fauzia Wahab, the PPP Spokesperson, was severely scrutinized in the media recently for saying her thoughts out loud about Quran and the constitution. I have seen this Zakir Naik guy himself refusing to allow the preaching of other religions in Moslem states. He justified it by some 2+2=4 argument. We have seen how Moslems reacted to the Freedom of Speech issue in the Netherlands and the response to the right of free speech of Salman Rushdie and Gert Walders.
Dr Israr of the Tehreek e Islami Pakistan was also recently removed from this world by the grace of Gods. He will be finding out the truth about Vrigins and Wines of the Paradise at about this time. He was another hate monger and a conspiracy theory specialist.
Zakir Naik and others of the same root who seek to Islamify democratic and secular societies in Europe should be banned.

lol :p Yeah. He thinks he's being ALL logical when he says this! Someone asked him, "Why can't non-Muslims preach their religion in a Muslim country when Muslims are required to preach in non-Muslim countries? And Muslims can build mosques in non-Muslim countries but non-Muslims can't have their places of worship in Muslim countries. Why? Isn't this unfair?"

He starts off thinking he's gonna be all impressive or all logical (his website screams, "You MUST be logical when trying to convince an atheist or a non-Muslim." It had me laughing my head off after I witnessed his double standard views.) His response to the above question was:

"No, it's not unfair. Suppose that you are the principle of a school, and you wanna hire a math teacher. Now, one teacher tells you that 1+1 = 2, and another tells you that 1+1 = 3. Now tell me who you will hire. Won't you hire the one who says 1+1= 2? Of course you will." (Of course, meaning that only Muslims know and understand God and what REALLY religion is supposed to be about, and Islam is the only correct religion on earth. So all others will be lying, and why should we let them teach us any lies when only we Muslims know the truth?)

LOL. I'm supposed to buy this?! WHAT will make him understand that, Dude, just as YOU believe that YOUR religion is the correct one, the non-Muslims believe THEIR religions are the correct ones, too.

I stand by a stance I presented about 2 years ago: Intelligent people do not listen to Zakir Naik to enhance their understanding of Islam. The guy lacks reason, thought, and intelligence -- big time. I'm not at all surprised that most people listen to him and find him "amazing" -- and even see him as a scholar. Neither am I surprised that many Muslims are the way they are today, when we have folks like Zakir Naik being the custodians of Islamic knowledge and "understanding."

I find it even funnier that his TV is about "peace" :O (Peace TV) Where does he think he'll get PEACE if he's gonna preach such intolerance of non-Islamic religions?

Oh, and by the way ... "comparative religions"? Whoa, that's not called comparative religions. What he does is ONLY taking verses of the Quran AND of other religious texts purely out of context and he fools Muslims by making them believe he's an "expert" on other religions.

What's worse, your typical/average Muslim looooooooooooooves anyone who memorizes the Quran. These "hafeezaan" are what we consider scholars, unfortunately. So, since Zakir Naik happens to have a sharp memory, most Muslims love him ESPECIALLY because of that.

I must admit I loved and worshiped him once upon a time as well, until I noted the double standards and unconvincing arguments he posed. At first, I didn't wanna admit them to myself because, duh, how DARE I challenge or criticize or disagree with or even find a fault in a "scholar's" preaching! But then I was like, to heck with him. The guy isn't what we have made him to be.

I'm not at all surprised that someone as intolerant as Zakir Naik is banned from a country that PRACTICES tolerance. How DARE Zakir Naik even THINK about preaching in the UK when UK-ians, being non-Muslims, are obviously not permitted -- according to Zakir Naik himself -- to preach religions other than Islam in a Muslim land? How dare he plan to go and preach there when he would never allow them to preach in his land? Oh I forgot: Only he, being a Muslim, knows the truth about God and religions; all others are liars and must not be allowed to preach to Muslims. ~sighs~

Looool. I remember this. This was on ARY TV with Dr Shahid Masood, another mega conspiracy theorist. WTH. Daa tsa gap de. Who will believe this 'logikil' answers? Another one.

This guy: If God created everything, who created God?
ZN: God is defined to be un-created, so it is illogikil to ask who created God.

So are we to believe in the supreme being based on this? No, I am sorry, I apologize. I am a human. I am supposed to be better than this.

And funnier still, as you said, his TV channel is called 'Peace TV'. Where is the peace in his version of Islam?

Recently, I read a statistic that Norway is the least crime ridden country. Something like 3300 offenders or 3.3 per 1000. Mr Zakir Naik says that the barbaric punishments, like chopping off hands or capital punishments, are justifie because they prevent crimes. Now two questions arise:

1 Norway has no Sharia. Why is it more peacefull and crime-free than Saudi and Iran?

2 If Sharia punishments can prevent crime why is there crime in Saudi and Iran? Why don't people take 'Ibrat' as the logic goes?
