Hi shebaz, I once had a relative who worked with karachi police, and that is what he told us, that much of the police was basically punjabi, ofcourse there were few that were urduspeakers, pashtuns, sindhis etc... but majority was punjabi, now perhaps that may have changed in the last 10 years or so, but I really doubt it.

True, there may be a little sprinkling of Urdu-speakers, Sindhis, and Pashtuns in Karachi Police but most of its workforce in the officer cadres as well as the lower ranks is Punjabi just like Ranjers is a Punjabi institution.

Paki Army also is one of the most corrupt institutions of Pakistan.
The reality is that the force is made of Sindhis mostly, at least the Sindh police, I can get you figures as I have people in places who collect such figures. Current estimates put the Sindhi population in Sindh police at over 60% so think before you speak. We can achieve nothing by hating on Punjabis and blaming them for all our ills. Only illiterate people do it.

Did you dream the army is the most corrupt. Its failed miserably in its task to protect Pakistani citizens and has its issues but only a fool can call the army corrupt.

Research indicates the police and land administration sectors are the most corrupt. Don't believe me. Here's cold, hard facts from transparency international Pakistan. If you have proof for your claims bring them forward.

      Military least corrupt institution: TIP

KARACHI - Judiciary has stepped up into the 4th position from 6th in the previous year in terms of corruption, while land administration department has got the first position on the list of country’s most corrupt institutions, according to the National Corruption Perception Survey 2011, released by the Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) on Wednesday.

According to the report the police department has taken the second spot while the Power sector has dropped to the 5th rank from 2nd. Taxation slipped to the 3rd rank from its previous 8th position, while Customs and Tendering and Contracting departments have shown alarming increase in the corruption trend.

It is pertinent to mention here that for the first time military has been included in the survey and it was the least corrupt department after education in the year 2011. Police had topped all the previous years’ surveys but the Land Administration has crossed them and the factor of the ‘Land Mafia’ was one of the big reasons for this increase.

The annual survey report was released at Karachi Press Club in a press conference by TIP Chairman Sohail Muzaffar, along with TIP Advisory Committee chairman Syed Adil Gilani. This year’s survey has been conducted by Gallup Pakistan. Sohail Muzaffar cited the delay in punitive action by the state organs against the corrupt elements in corruption cases like Pakistan Steel, NICL, Punjab Bank, Rental Power Plants, KESC, PIA, Railway and Wapda as the main reason for the rise in corruption levels.

Sohail informed that judiciary is confronted by deliberate defiance in implementing Supreme Court orders and delay in punishing corrupt persons by the judiciary is one of the causes of lower ranking of judiciary. He said that they have released the reports to tell the government and the people that which is the most corrupt department and it should not be taken into personal context or any political intention. “We are trying to help out the government by showing them the corrupt sections in them, now it’s up to the government how it cleans them”.

On the inclusion of military in the survey, the TIP chairman said, “We have not included it in the survey, Gallup itself has added military and they have not put railways in the survey”. He said the military should not be placed before the education in the rank because according to him military is less corrupt than the education.

He added that Gallup agreed late to conduct the survey, “No one was ready to conduct the survey, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) which conducted the previous year’s survey refused to conduct it this year. We had short time and Gallup agreed in the last”, said Muzaffar.

But the MQM has constantly demanded that the police in Karachi be taken from Karachi, not from interior Sindh from where it is currently recruited.

Also Roadrunner is wrong about the army. Though I admit the lower ranks are not mohajir, the Urdu speakers have a heavy role in the Officer ranks. Musharraf was one such officer and there are many others. The officers are almost completely Punjabi and Mohajir.
This whole paragraph is incorrect sorry, first of all most of them are not sindhis, do you have proof of this? why would sindhis cry for jobs then? I am specifically talking about karachi, perhaps in interior sindh they are sindhis, not sure.
and second not all muhajirs are rich as you are painting the picture, heck why would organizations like MQM even exist if muhajirswere living a luxury life, again there are different classes of muhajirs like any other group. so your point of the menial jobs doesn't make sense, specially with in Karachi

The figures are for Sindh in general... claiming 60%+ of the force is Sindhi. Of course since the information is not confirmed by independent researchers it may even be revised. But yes I fear information on Karachi may not even have been researched yet. Lack of research is a common problem in our country which makes getting statistics difficult.

I know a person who was a research coordinator for a research firm but I doubt they conduct research on Sindh government. Just on doing business in various sectors in Pakistan and competitive analysis.

But thats what people have told me. A Pashtun trader would have no problem moving a cart around town selling Bhuttay. A Mohajir would think it was too low for him, at least one from the richer sections of society. Ask one of your family members if it would be acceptable for them to sell fruit or vegetables as a vendor and they'd think its too lowly.

I cannot comment on bias against Mohajirs. In Pakistan every ethnic group feels they have a right to do the other. If they don't get what they want... they are being oppressed. But I admit the center and Punjab's influence in everything needs to end. Let the local people make their own decisions.

Na Janaab I am not a Punjabi what so ever. I am a Pakhtun.

But a lie is a lie .. Give me an example? Give me any ratio?

I'm living in the city and I know many police officials of different zones !!

You're wrong again.. Mohajirs are rarely found in Pakistan Army.
