  • Gurkha who beheaded Taliban soldier in Afghanistan battle cleared to return to duty

A Gurkha solider who beheaded a Taliban gunman and carried his head back to base in a bag has been cleared to resume his duties.
The private, from 1st Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles, was involved in a fierce firefight with insurgents in the Babaji area of central Helmand Province when the incident took place earlier last July.
The Nepalese soldier, who is in his early 20s, apparently made the decision to remove the head in a misunderstanding over the need for DNA evidence of the kill.

Cleared: A Gurkha has been returned to duty after he beheaded a Taliban gunman with his kukri knife - the curved blade seen being used in a demonstration by Gurkha soldiers in this file photograph
His unit had been told that they were seeking a ‘high value target,’ a Taliban commander, and that they must prove they had killed the right man.
The Gurkhas had intended to remove the Taliban leader’s body from the battlefield for identification purposes.

However, Army sources revealed at the time that he told investigators he had unsheathed his kukri – the symbolic weapon of the Gurkhas – after running out of ammunition.

'Thankfully he has been returned to normal duties having had a question mark hanging over his future for some time,' a military source told The Sun.

'This particular Gurkha is good soldier and has a good record.'
The Gurkha faced a court martial and possible jail sentence if he had been found guilty of a war crime.
However, the decision taken was that the soldier was fighting for his life and did not have time to reload his weapon as his victim attacked.
The Gurkhas had intended to remove the Taliban leader’s body from the battlefield for identification purposes.
But they came under heavy fire as their tried to do so. Military sources said that in the heat of battle, the Gurkha took out his curved kukri knife and beheaded the dead insurgent.
He is understood to have removed the man’s head from the area, leaving the rest of his body on the battlefield.
This is considered a gross insult to the Muslims of Afghanistan, who bury the entire body of their dead even if parts have to be retrieved.
British soldiers often return missing body parts once a battle has ended so the dead can be buried in one piece.

This is irrelevant to the topic, please stay on topic. Just a request. What you are doing is referred to as trolling, and if you do not know what trolling means then please educate yourself on the term.

          Urban Dictionary: trolling

Because I know, you won't bother reading it. I have copy pasted a few definitions, and hopefully by reading it all, you will understand why you are considered a troll.

          First Definition

Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.
Guy: "I just found the coolest ninja pencil in existence."
Other Guy: "I just found the most retarded thread in existence."

          Second Definition

Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or other foolishness. However, trolling statements are never true or are ever meant to be construed as such. Nearly all trolled statements are meant to be funny to some people, so it does have some social/entertainment value.

"Trolling" isn't simply "harmful statements". Intentionally insulting/libelous statements are "flaming".

Just as bad as trolling is "Feeding the Trolls". This is when people say stuff that they know will prompt someone to respond with a trolled reply and/or replying to comments that are blatantly from a troll. This is especially true when a troll first makes his comment/reply, and (usually many) people respond, either trying to correct the troll, or express anger at the statement. At that point, the trolling was successful and has been fed. When encouraged by success and feeding, trolls often return.
In World of Warcraft, there are occasionally people that blurt out in world chat, "You get your mount at level 40 and costs 100 gold." then immediately signs off.

This information is outdated by over a year; but MANY people respond for at least 10-15 minutes afterwards with either corrections or calling that player a 'dummy', or something similar insulting their intelligence.

Trolling and subsequent feeding. Perfect example.

Excuse me a lot dear Jamal Ud Din , i read a bit Your link- those people have really nothing to do seems to me as inventing such terms. Aren't You talking here about more serious subjects. I Understand that you have different oppinions - but isn't it better to stay on argumentation and sense. This "Trolling" word is like a word without real sense, it ignores the meaning and discussion - and I think what You both discussed is much more important. I do not know Your age - but the themes You are in are quiet serious for claiming one to the other "you are trolling, you are fictive character....."
Than the whole discussion loses its sense unfortunately.

            Իմ էություն, ե՛տ արի, ե՛տ:

Arevapasht, i highly recommend that you read my previous post on "trolls", and then using that newly acquired knowledge, do some self-reflection on your response. I'm sure you are an intelligent man to fathom it.

I don't blame the Gurkha soldier. I don't even blame the Afghan government. The people who are responsible for all this carnage are those Arabs who used Afghanistan as their base to constantly attack the US and its allies everywhere around the world. And when the US came to seek revenge with an array of some of the deadliest weapons known to man, what do those Arabs do? They run away with their wives, some shave their beards, others put on burkhas and they seek refuge with their Punjabi masters in Karachi, Islamabad, Abbotabad, etc.

Where are those Arabs and their allies now? Why did they invite the US to invade Afghanistan? Why are they not defending the Afghan people anymore? Just like in the 1970s when the US and its allies lured the Soviets in Afghanistan to slowly defeat them at the cost of Pashtun blood, Al-Qaeda has lured the US into Afghanistan to see it defeated at the cost of Pashtun blood. The sooner we realize who our enemies are, the better.

Afghanistan must never become a base for global Jihadists at any cost. As it is, these mad men have turned Afghanistan into the most backward place in the world and, on top of that, they have invited such brutal and immoral enemies to our homeland.

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

I remember in the 20s and 40s for every problem either Jews or illuminatis or other such things were taken responsible for the suffering of the people instead of taking a look into the real cause.

                        What are you talking about?

NATO is in Afghanistan because Al-Qaeda kept attacking the US and its allies and the attacks on 9/11 were the last straw for the Americans. It's as simple as that. No Al-Qaeda and their global terrorism = no NATO in Afghanistan. The world had already turned a blind eye towards Afghanistan.

The UN declaration that gave permission for the whole world to attack Afghanistan goes something like this,

"Condemning the Taliban for allowing Afghanistan to be used as a base for the export of terrorism by the Al-Qaeda network and other terrorist groups and for providing safe haven to Osama bin Laden, Al-Qaeda and others associated with them...."
(United Nations Security Council Resolution 1378).

ISI are foreigners, are they not?

You want to call Kayani your countryman, and everybody else a foreigner. Then go and make Pakjabi flag your avatar photo. Why pretend?

So what your saying is that

                              When innocent Afghans like these

                              see these Afghans

                              shooting at these afghans

Criticism should go to the latter because you expect the innocent
afghans to believe they are foreigners. Praise should go to the
former because they are indigenous. The problem is the afghans
aren't blind. If they were blind, maybe it could work.
