it's good to see older people getting out there and doing something so productive and positive. i've been to protests but i've never organised one.

I wish Afghanistan/Pakistan can have somebody like Hazare, right know.

Only humans support people like Hazare. In our countries, very little is left of that term.

Ramazan Bashardost who was literally the only politician who went round to every corner of Afghanistan (without any security) and actually heard out the poorest people of the nation; A quality Karzai and his company can't even asset (as the Indians would say) in their coming seven lives.

I asked one of my friends about this and he said that he didn't see any future in Pakistan.

When the Soviets had newly left Afghanistan, there were actually Afghans who had hope for a bright tomorrow and were patriotic. After Mujahideen Hizbs' fight was over, the hope awakened again and people were still patriotic. But after the complete ethnic break-down of the country, many people had given up hope and the patriotism didn't disappear, but it has definitely got suppressed now. In short, Pakistan's state is by far not as bad as ours was during Soviet war, or Mujahideen war, or Taliban era, or current NATO occupation. And if Pakistanis at this stage, where not everything is lost yet, give up on protection and care of their country then I am worried what will happen if the situation gets even worse? They got a strong military, good weaponry, decent education system, beautiful country; But these things are meaning less when the military is being abusive towards its own people, weaponry is killing its own people, education is bought with money instead of run by brain, and its beauty is being overshadowed by sheer hatred going on. Pakistan still has got time, time to stand up nationally and show that if they can support a corrupt nation in ignorance, then they can fight it as well when in their senses.

As for Anna Hazare, excuse the very silly question, but what exactly will happen now?

in pakistan, especially these days people lack patriotism, to do this kind of movement you have to be a patriotic citizen of the country and fight for the country. I doubt pakistanis have the same desire to fight to save pakistan, maybe some do still, but it can not turn in to a mass movement like in India where people actually love their country and want to see it progress and get rid of corruption

Absolutely, nationalism is esstial,In India majority of people put nation first over religion/state/ethnicity..i have seen many patritic Pakistani all over the world..u guyz need a good leader who can lead and guide properly..if leader can stand up against corruption, load shedding, Terrorism, etc. then majority of suffered people will definitely support him , & certainly it will result in a mass movement..

As for Anna Hazare, excuse the very silly question, but what exactly will happen now?

Anna's three conditions were:

1.The Lokpal model will be introduced in all states along with central govt..

2. Junior-lower level bureaucrats will be accountable to it.

3. Citizen's charters will be displayed in all government offices to publically display that department's duties.


These features have been accepted in principle; they will now be reviewed by a parliamentary standing committee which will also check their compatibility with the constitution.

The committee will then send the bill back with detailed feedback to Parliament for its consideration.

well Standing Committee is just a formality now..so we can hope to see the bill in couple of months ...

Present system has anti corruption body like Anti corruption bureau and central bureau of investigation..but they r not independent and cant punish the culprit....they fall undr the govermnt autority & also full of corruption......Lokapal will be independent like judiciary...
