Randolph. i am really not sure what you are talking about. Blacks are really discriminated against more than any other minoirty. even till today where muslims are seen the biggest threat in America, blacks are number one discriminated minority.

I live in a comparatively diverse place and we constantly hear in the newsabout shooting of unarmed black man by cops in bart stations, streets, bus stops. its just not fair. when one has a perception of certain people to be less than human being, then killing, torture, and inustice towards those become Ok. Blacks are still preceived as less than human.

it is really a sad situation. I do agree with you that blacks are not helping themselves either but put yourself in their shoes, they have been living this country for hundreds of years. all they know is this country but this country is not able to accept them. This has a lot of pscyhological affect on their mind. Black kids growing up think that they only way they can be accepted by whites is if they are able to scare the crap out of them.

I have many successful Black businessen as clients but they still talk about how they get stopped by a cop and asked for the car registration, just because the White cop can't believe a black man is driving a Farari.

      Reminds me of this:

      ---
To advise others is an easy matter, the difficulty is accepting advice -- since it is bitter for those who follow their
      own inclinations and desires

I like the balanced responses here; I believe all spectrum have fair points; but the stronger evidence points to Institutionally imposed policies which are converged onto the African-American community.

Some people might be stretching things a bit by referring back to Slavery but that is certainly a foundational ground for the historical context of the social dynamics of Blacks in America.

While personal accountability is important and many blacks use the race card as a scapegoat. There are numerous examples which bears legitimacy in this case.

Take for example Education; Black kids dont just flunk schools because they're lazy or drawn to gang culture, they're drawn to gang culture and lazy because the schools in primarily African American communities are being cut off or get insufficient funding.

My cousin is a Chemistry teacher, living in Orange County, California. When he first started teaching they assigned him to a predominantly black district in L.A. (no not Compton Amir....settle down); he quit his job because the facilities were inadequate, they didnt have enough text books and teaching materials. The students were largely truant because their families were poor and they had to work. He ended up getting a job in Irvine and they have everything from Blackboard to a fully equipped chemistry simulation lab. Not to mention Irvine is predominantly white.

Comparing the Blacks of America to destitution in Afghanistan is like comparing the King of Papua New Guinea to the Prince of Wales. In Economics there is something called relative poverty and absolute poverty. Blacks in America only have certain degrees of infrastructural access because of the default of their location. They're generally concentrated around urban centers. When we factor in the environmental conflux into the equation, the blacks only have running water etc etc and Afghans dont because of the societal construct they reside in, Afghans a primarily rural and agricultural one, Blacks an industrial one. Even then we find the facilities in black neighborhoods are severely dilapidated, and no it's not because they don't take care of it; because what do the average black family have to do with the MUNICIPAL water system?

The analogy of Black Music is a misleading one, Blacks didnt decline from The Temptations into Lil Wayne. The Temptations were manufactured to market a consumer culture to the African Americans, likewise with Lil Wayne. It's all corporate manufactured. It's no different than White Girls who dress like who*res to look like Lady Gaga, they just want to move product.

Bengal_Tiger: Same here in the UK. White people (not all but many, and the racist ones, have a very primeval fear and hatred of black people due to their dark and thus "threatening" appearance. A white friend told me that even if he was with some Asian/Arab Muslims with beards and niqabs he would feel more comfortable than surrounded by blacks, this was when we were in a mainly black area of London, and this guy is someone relatively "open-minded", aware of British racism (his ancestry is Mediterranean), widely travelled etc).

            Sad but true.

Bengal_Tiger: Randolph is partially right in what he says. However a lot of people just do not understand what it is to be like as a black person. The nearest I came to it was when I lived in Syria for a year and had to deal with Arabs, but that is not even 1% of what black people have to deal with.

it is really a sad situation. I do agree with you that blacks are not helping themselves either but put yourself in their shoes, they have been living this country for hundreds of years. all they know is this country but this country is not able to accept them. Bengal_Tiger: A famous black British football player who even won some matches for England with his goals and who everyone in the country knows, was picked up by white policemen just outside London and then put in a prison cell, only to be released. This would not have happened if he was white, Afghan, Bengali, Chinese etc, for some reason white people (not all of course, I don't want to offend the likes of Faye and Catya) have a deep, inherent hatred of blacks.

Having said that Muslims themselves are racists and have their own set of issues, and in contrast to a lot of the west-bashing we have on this forum, my stay in Syria increased my appreciation of the west which is relatively civilized, and where even though there are problems they can be discussed and times there are mechanisms for redress.

For Gulbabo and everyone else I recommend you read this site, including the comments:

(Read the comment by "Buttthenwhy", 7th comment, funny but sad).

There are lots of other good articles on that site related to race.

To balance out what I've said, ScimitarXedge has correctly pointed out that the black middle class are increasing and even Will Smith, a man who very much wears his blackness on his sleeve, has said he feels there is no barrier that can stop a black person from achieving what they want and getting to the top in the USA (which is partially true, but does not discount the prejudices and problems that blacks, women and others face in real life, it is also tougher to be a woman in this world than to be a man, something many men won't realize).

thanks bengal-tiger. i am not easily offended. is it hatred or a feeling af superiority? they thought that the black people were animalistic and even recently, not as evolved or intelligent. but, in fact, we now know that ie; the aboriginals had a very compliceted system of distribution for land usage, religion, social setup and a vast knowledge of the natural environment and medicinal use of plants. i think there are about 600 different language groups also.
personally i found the african americans more easy to mix with than the jamaicans and in america they tended to look down upon the african americans.i hung out with some very cool blacks over there. they were more interesting than the whites but there were areas where whites were warned not to venture.

Around 30% of blacks in America have European yDNA.

Due to joint long histories in the US, approximately 30% of African American males have a European Y chromosome haplogroup Approximately 58% of African Americans have the equivalent of one great-grandparent (12.5 percent) of European ancestry. Only about 5% have the equivalent of one great-grandparent of Native American ancestry

No they aren't and in fact African Americans are far poorer now; than they where back in the 1960's, when America was still segregated. As back then, black Americans owned far more small business and had far stronger communities.

Now a days the blacks have nothing and are completely socially dysfunctional and half of them can't even speak English properly. Back in 1940, the illegitimacy rate among blacks was 19%, in 1960 it was 22% and now it's 72%.
