No I don't see it as a contradiction; I'm not attacking God, just challenging we Muslims always blindly follow things rather than questioning and analyzing what they believe.

If I was attacking I'd be like Christopher Hitchens and say stuff "there's no way God could exist and even if he could, I wouldn't want hiim to because that's like having a Celestial Kim Jong Ill watching over you".

You have that backwards -- that's what science *IS*. That is pretty much the definition of how science works -- and in this very thread, you are doing the exact opposite -- you are rejecting science based on your flawed view of what science is, and despite people pointing out your misunderstandings, you cling to them and keep repeating mistaken ideas of what science is.

Again, only one side of this discussion is unwilling to revise what they believe in the face of new evidence -- religion. Science has changed *drastically* over the last 1500 years -- Islam is still pretty much the same since Mohammad founded it.

There is no direct evidence of that. The primary evidence is that there is no evidence that any known religion is true -- and in fact, most known religions contradict reality or disagree with the evidence we do have.

Extraordinary claims require evidence -- religions are the ones making the claims, they are under the burden of proof to prove them. It is *not* science's job to prove or disprove religion's claims.

Ok. I will. I will do what *everyone* does when a scientist makes an extraordinary claim. I will ask for concrete evidence, and a complete write up, including steps to a reproducible experiment. You are then required to submit your work to a peer reviewed journal, where other people will analyses and critique your claims, and attempt to reproduce your results. You will have to present a theory that explains not just *your* observations, but all other known observations and tests -- and after a long period of your work being torn apart, analyses and reproduced, it will be accepted as most likely true.

I mean, that's how much scientists results are trusted -- pretty much not at all. The more extraordinary they are, the less trusted they are.

I really don't see him attacking god. It's not attacking a god to admit science is legitimate -- religion and science can coexist, you just have to realize that they don't always overlap. There is no reason to reject your god just because you wish to be educated. May scientists through out the ages were religious. You just need to realize that your holy book might not be 100% literal truth, and may, in fact use literary devices such as allegory, simile, fables, parables, and the like to spread a bigger message than it does as a literal book.

Obviously since your so smart you'll just respond and erase that statement.

Why would that get erased? It's better to aknowledge it, and critique it and correct your ignorance than it is to ignore it.

No, I am not willing to die -- because I admit that this is the only life I get. I am not looking to be rewarded in the afterlife for actions here. This is why atheists tend to not be suicide bombers, and why there are fewer atheists in prison in the western world.

You are right -- wishing something were real does not make it so. You are welcome to believe in an afterlife, magic, and religion all you want, without any evidence at all. Some of us choose to live in the real world, though.
