Haha, you guys went so off topic... Anyway, I am still wondering how or why Hazaras had close links to Iran, resulting in them being Shi'a. Apart from that, why are some Ismaili?

I heard the Aga Khan's would travel to places where people were poor or prosecuted and convert them to Ismailism. I guess since the Hazaras had it pretty bad from us they switched over, but I may just be speculating about it all.

I think they are descendants of Mongol-Persians, correct? Also were they not ruled by Persia for a while? As for the Ismailis, when the Assassin Order (Hashashin) broke up after Hulagu Khan defeated them at their fortress in Alamut (I may be wrong), they spread out and fled to different parts of the Muslim world. The objectives of the Assassins has remained unclear. I still don't understand them at all. They also did drugs a lot.

I think there are also Pashtun Ismaili Shias in Hunza.

The video game Assassins Creed is centered around this group.
