Ash-Shawkani said in his book: The Authentic Proof Concerning Transmissions about the Expected Imam, the false Messiah and the Messiah, " ... there are fifty transmitted prophetic sayings concerning Al Mahdi. Amongst them are those classified as authentic, good and also the amended. There is no doubt that they are all mutawatira.

Al Mahdi is mentioned in the Prophetic Sayings reported by thirty-three of the companions - they are follows:

At that time a voice will come from Heaven saying:*
'O people, surely Allah prevents dictatorship, tyrants and their followers*
for you and gives leadership to the best of the nation of Muhammad.*
So join him in Mecca -- he is Al Mahdi!"*
Then, Hudhayfah ra asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, how shall we know him?'*
He saw replied: "He is a man from my children, he looks like the men from the children of Israel, upon him are two white cloaks with frayed edges.*
His face is like a colorful, glittering star, upon his right cheek there is a black mole and he is forty years old. Al Abdal and those looking like them will come to him from Syria. An-Nujaba will come to him from the dwellers of Egypt and groups of dwellers from the east, and those looking like them until they all gather together in Mecca and so they will pledge their allegiance to him between Al Rukn and Al Makam. Then he will direct himself towards Syria with Gabriel at his front and Michael at his middle and the dwellers of Heaven and Earth will be joyful because of him. Water will be plentiful in his country and the river will be spread and treasures found. When he reaches Syria he will slay As-Sufyani under the tree, the branches of which grow in the direction of Lake Tiberias21 and he will kill Kalb.*
So the loser of that Day of Kalb is he who does not gain even a rein."*
Hudhaybah asked:*
'O Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, how is it permitted to kill them when they believe in the Oneness?' The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, replied:*
"O Hudhayfah, they are at that time apostates, they claim that wine is permitted and do not pray."*

The preceding Hadiths were narrated by Hudhayfah RA and are found in the references of Abu Nuaym, At-Tabarani, and Abu Amru Ad Dani.

Narrated Hazrat Umama reported Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa alay he wa sallam) said: You and theRomans(Christians) will have four peace treaties . The fourth peace would be at the hand of a person who would be from the Al-e-Haroon( family of Prophet Haroon).This peace treaty would be for seven years. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) was asked who would be the Imam of the Muslims at that time.*Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said” That person would be from my family,his age would be 40 years ,his face would be bright as a start and a black spot would be on his right cheek.He would be wearing two Qutwani Cloaks.He will appear exactly as the person from Bani Israeel. He will rule for 10 years and will conquer the cities of the Mushrikeen(Idolaters).”

8*Kanz-ul-Aamal, Page 268, Hadith No 3868.*Tabarānī narrated it in*al-Mu‘jam-ul-kabīr (8:101#7495), Musnad-ush-shāmiyyīn (2:410#1600); and Haythamī in Majma‘-uz-zawā’id (7:318,319).

Above hadeeth shows that imam mehdi will conquer the land of idolators..which is near to khorasan.So it means he ll be living among them.

Thawban (R.A) reported that Dear Propet(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said, “ Three people will fight for*your treasure (and get killed).All three of them will be sons of a Ruler but none of them will get the treasure. Then Black Flags will appear from the East & will kill you as no one (in History) has killed you before. Then*Dear Prophet(salallaho alayhay wa alay hesallam) said soemthing that I didn’t remember.Then again DearProphet(salallaho alayhay wa alay he sallam) said if you see him then give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi.This Hadith is most Authentic(Saheeh) according to the conditions of Saheeh Bokhari & Saheeh Muslim

Thoban r.a(Companion of Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) reported that Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) said: When u see that Black Flags have appeared from KHORASAN ,go to (join) them even if you have to walk over ICE on your knees as the Khalifah of Allah MAHDI will be among them.(This hadith is Saheeh(Most Authentic) according to the conditions of Saheeh Bokhari & Saheeh Muslim).

Abu Huraira r.a(Companion of Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) reported that Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) said: Black Flags will appear from KHORASAN ,Nothing will will stop them until they will be placed at Elya(The Holy Land of Jerusalem)

The Importance of Following Al Mahdi .Ibn Masood reported:"We went to the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him,and he came out with good news --and happiness was easily recognizable upon his face.When we asked him about a matterhe would tell us about it,and we were never silent about anything until he spoke of it,until a party from the Bani Hashim passed byamongst whom were Al Hasan and Al Hussain, peace be upon them.When he saw them he hugged them with tears in his eyes,so we asked: 'O Messenger of Allah'we see something has changed your face which distresses us.'Thereupon he replied:'We are a Family of a Housefor whom Allah has chosen the Hereafter rather than the present.After me my family will be refugees,driven out of countries until the Black Banners are raised in the east.They will ask for the truthbut they will not be given it,so they will ask again for it,and they will not be given it ,so they will fight and be given victory.Those of you or your descendants who live during that timego to the Imam of the Family of my houseeven if you have to crawl over ice to him.Indeed, they are banners of guidance.They will deliver it to a man from the Family of my Househis name is the same as my name,and the name of his father is the same as my father,and he will fill the ground with fairness and justice."This hadith is in found in the references of Abu Dawood, Al Hakim, At-Tirmizi, Ibn Hibban, Ibn Majhah, Au Ash-Shaykh, Ibn Adiy, Abu Dhabi,Ibn Asakir and Abu Nuaym.Return of JusticeProphet Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him, said:"If only one day in life remains,Allah will send a man from the Family of my House.He will fill the earth with justicejust as it has been filled by injustice.""Al Mahdi is from the family of the House

Allah will 'errect him in a night."

Above hadeeth clearly tells that family of prophet mohammad sallalaho alayhi waalihi wassalam living as refugees today.

Narrated by Mother of the faithful, Hadrat Umme Salma(r.A) that once dearest Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) was sleeping in my home,suddenly he(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) woke and said Inna Lillah... I asked May my mother and father sacrfice upon you..Ya Rasul Allah salallaho alayhay wa sallam)..what is it? Why you are saying Inna Lillah...Dearest Prophet Muhammad(Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said An army from my Ummah(nation) will come from Shaam Syria) to capture a person in Baitullah(Kaabah).Allah subhanahu will protect that person from this Army and when they will reach from ZUL-KHALIFA to MAQAM BAIDA,then they will all swallowed by Earth and will rise from different places on the Judgement day.I asked "Why is it that they will be swallowed in earth at same place but will rise at different places (on Judgement day).Dearest Prophet salallaho alayhay wa sallam said three times that "some of the people will be taken in this army by force"

Narrated by Umme Salma (r.A) that dearest Prophet Muhammad(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) that disagreement will occur after the death of a Caliph(note here Khalifah doesnt necessarily mean a Just Caliph of Islam.It can mean a King),then a person will flee from Madinah to Makkah.Some of the people in Makkah will come to him and take him out against his will and will do allegiance (Beyah) to him between Hajar Aswad(black stone) and Maqam Ibrahim.Then an army from Sham(syria) will come to attack to him but will be devoured by earth at the place of BAIDAH.When people will see this,then Abdal of Sham(Syria) and Asaeb of Iraq (Abdal & Asaeb is a level of pious people from Shaam & Iraq respectively and their number is 40 according to other narrations) will come and take allegiance(beyah) of him.Then a person from Quraish will come forward ,whose maternal family will be from Bani Kulaib(a branch of Banu Tamim).That person in Makkah will send an army towards that Qureshi and will overcome him.This battle will be called the BATH KULAIB and a person is at great loss if he is not present at the distribution of the booty of that Ghazwa(battle).He will distribute the riches and act upon the sunnah of Prophet Alayhay salam and Islam will put its neck on the earth(i.e Islam will spread)and he will rule for 9 years on earth."

Does the below ahadith points towards Mongols?

For ahadith that do not point towards the location, it is possible that Mongols and Turks both are mentioned separately. But we cannot combine them together as Ahadith are telling about two distinct groups and in two distinct times. As you can see in the following ahadith.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The Last Hour would not come until you fight with a people wearing shoes of hair and the Last Hour would not come until you fight with a people having small eyes and broad snub noses."

Hazrat Buraida r.a(Companion of Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) reported that Dear Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said: A nation will wage war with you who will have small eyes,(meaning the TURKS).You will drive them three times until you will drive them to the Arabian Peninsula .The first time you push them back ,those who will run away among them will get salvation,and in the 2nd time some will get salvation and some will be killed and the third time u drive them back,they will be up rooted or the way you said it." ( Sunan Abu Daud, Awwal Kitab-al-Malahim ,Hadith 4305.)
Narrated Abu Huraira ra: The Prophet (Salallaho alayhay wa sallam)said, "The Hour will not be established till you fight a nation wearing hairy shoes, and till you fight the Turks, who will have small eyes, red faces and flat noses; and their faces will be like flat shields.( And in the following hadith, the Turks are mentioned to have flat faces like shields.)
Narrated Abu Huraira ra: The Prophet(Salallaho alayhay wa sallam)said, "The Hour will not be established till you fight a nation wearing hairy shoes(tatars), and till you fight the Turks, who will have small eyes, red faces and flat noses; and their faces will be like flat shields. And you will find that the best people are those who hate responsibility of ruling most of all till they are chosen to be the rulers. And the people are of different natures: The best in the pre-lslamic period are the best in Islam. A time will come when any of you will love to see me rather than to have his family and property doubled."
The above two ahadith have the word “faces like shields common” and its also told that these will be turks.So the first hadith means that the Turks of Khurasan will be the followers of Dajjal."(Bukhari Volume No: 4Book No: 56No: 787*Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 5487)

Abu Umamah al-Bahili said, "The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam)delivered a speech to us, most of which dealt with the Dajjal and warned us against him…… Its a part of a Long Hadith………………………………
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, "Jesus son of Mary will be a just administrator and leader of my Ummah. He will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizyah (tax on non-Muslims). He will not collect the Sadaqah,* so he will not collect sheep and camels. Mutual enmity and hatred will disappear. Every harmful animal will be made harmless, so that a small boy will be able to put his hand into a snakes mouth without being harmed, a small girl will be able to make a lion run away from her, and a wolf will go among sheep as if he were a sheepdog. The earth will be filled with peace as a container is filled with water. People will be in complete agreement, and only Allah will be worshipped. Wars will cease, and the*authority of Quraysh*will be taken away. The earth will be like a silver basin, and will produce fruits so abundantly……long hadith continues"

Abu Huraira ra reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "The Last Hour would not come until the Romans would land at al-A'maq or in Dabiq. An army consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people of the earth at that time will come from Medina (to counteract them). When they will arrange themselves in ranks, the Romans would say: Do not stand between us and those (Muslims) who took prisoners from amongst us. Let us fight with them; and the Muslims would say: Nay, by Allah, we would never get aside from you and from our brethren that you may fight them. They will then fight and a third (part) of the army would run away, whom Allah will never forgive. A third (part of the army) which would be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allah's eye, would be killed and the third who would never be put to trial would win and they would be conquerors of Constantinople. And as they would be busy in distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords by the olive trees, the Satan would cry: The Dajjal has taken your place among your family. They would then come out, but it would be of no avail. And when they would come to Syria, he would come out while they would be still preparing themselves for battle drawing up the ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then Jesus (peace be upon him) son of Mary would descend and would lead them in prayer. When the enemy of Allah would see him, it would (disappear) just as the salt dissolves itself in water and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely, but Allah would kill them by his hand and he would show them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ)."

Sahih Muslim,Vol 3,Hadith 2778

Sayyidina Samurah ibn Jundub (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Saam was the father of the Arabs, Yaafith of the Romans and Haam of the Ethiopians.”(Jamia Tiridhi,Vol 2,Hadith 1903)

Note: Saam,Haam & Yaafith are the 3 sons of Prophet Noah and Prophet Noah is the ancestor of Prophet Ibrahim.
The above ahadith clearly tells that Romans are not from the off springs of Prpohet Ibraheem like the Arabs but are from an entirely different lineage than the Arabs.
So how can the Romans be called the Children of Isaac?

Dwellers of Paradise

"We are the children of Abd Al Muttalib,the Masters of the Dwellers of Paradise...myself, Hamza, Ali, Jafar, Al Hasan, Al Hussain and Al Mahdi."

Some of the Prophet's Last Words to Lady Fatima R.a entered to (visit) the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him,during his last illness before he died and found Fatima, peace be upon her,near his head crying.The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him,raised his eyes to (look at) her and asked:"O Fatima, what makes you cry?"She replied: "I fear the loss after you."Whereupon he said: "Don't you know that Allah, the Mighty, the Glorified looked to the earth once and chose your father and sent him with His message,then He looked once to the earth and chose your husband and revealed to me that I should let you marry him?
O Fatima, we are the Dwellers of a Houseand Allah has given us seven merits which He never gave to anyone elsebefore ...By He who sends me with the Truth, amongst both of them is Al Mahd is of this nation.When life is full of murder and strife, and trials increase,and roads are blocked (by thieves),and people start attacking one another,and when the elderly show no mercy to the young,and the young show no mercy to the elderly,Allah, the Mighty, the Glorified will send from them at the end of timeone who will open the fortress of error and open hearts that have beensealedand repair the Religion as I established it in the beginning of time.And he will fill the world with justicejust as it will have been filled by oppression."Reported by Ali, son of Ali Al Hillali and found in the reference of Abu

Nuaym.

Narrated by Hadrat Umama ra a long Hadith from Dear Prophet(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) where Umm Sharik ra said: "Where would be the Arabs then in that day?(Meaning why the Arabs wont come forward and fight for Islam ).

He(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said:" They would be small in number? And from that remaning Arabs,most of them will be in Bait-ul-Muqaddas (Sham) and their leader will be a pious man (Mahdi).When their leader will move forward to lead the Morning prayers,then, Eisa(Alayhay salam) will descend from the sky.The leader will step back so that Eisa(Alayhay salam) will lead the prayers but Eisa(Alayhay salam) will put his hand on his back between his shoulders and say Move forward and lead the prayers because the Aqamah was called for you. Then the Imam will lead the prayers to all people."

Sunan Ibn-e-Majah, Kitaab al-Fitan,Hadith 4077

Or say you that Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaaque (Isaac), Ya'qb (Jacob) and Al-Asbt [the twelve sons of Ya'qoob (Jacob)] were Jews or Christians? Say, "Do you know better or does Allah (knows better...; that they all were Muslims). And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony [i.e. to believe in Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him when he comes, written in their Books. (See Verse 7:157)] he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do."(02:140)

Narrated "Abd Allah ra said, Whilst we were with the Prophet saw , some young men from Banu Hashim approached us. When the Prophet saw them, his eyes filled with tears and the colour of his face changed. I said, We can see something has changed in your face, and it upsets us. The Prophet said, "We are the people of a Household for whom Allah has chosen the Hereafter rather than this world. The people of my Household (Ahl al-Bayt) will suffer a great deal after my death, and will be persecuted until a people carrying black banners will come out of the east. They will instruct the people to do good, but the people will refuse; they will fight until they are victorious, and the people do as they asked, but they will not accept it from them until they hand over power to a man from my household. Then the earth will be filled with fairness, just as it had been filled with injustice. If any of you live to see this, you should go to him even if you have to crawl across ice."
