A very very large portion of people who call themselves muslims fornicate, do drugs, drink, lie on a daily basis, cheat, murder, are racist, practise usury, support terrorists (whether it is TTP, Al Qaeda or NATO) for whatever worldy reason...

A lot of the people who call themselves muslims are double faced : pretend they are one thing but behind your back do other things.

Whatever you said is true, especially the two faced part. I some times wonder why are we like this? we even lie to ourselves, let alone others. There is no such thing as a muslim today, very few perhaps, like 1% of the population

Whenever I look at people from my country (Pakistan) I find them to be among the worst human beings in the world and the worst part is, I really dont know how to tell them that. Will it even change anything? what can I ( as a individual) do to change a whole society which is so corrupt and evil in everything. What you are experiencing is the "grass is always greener on the other side" effect.

The West is more developped because through superior military and firepower it steals ressources and murder third-world leaders like Kadhafi and Thomas Sankara who want to help their people.

Britain stole a quarter of the world, France and Spain and Portugal colonized a lot of territories and stole their ressources.

You might think their society is better but they are like this because they murdered the people who stood up to them and stole tremendous quantities of ressources.

Also what is called corruption in third-world countries is called lobbying in the West. There is a lot of hypocrisy in their flawed system.

^ it's not just the case of Grass is greener on the other side. After having lived in countries like Saudi, Pakistan, Canada definatly seems like heaven. Of course these guys have their own problems and yes there are also many social anti Islamic evils here in well, however I am talking about the overall society. If there was a choice, most people (including muslims) would choose to live in Canada, rather then a place like Pakistan or Saudi

Let us be realistic and compare Muslim and non Muslim developed world. What is the main difference? For me it is the rule of law. In Muslim societies there is by large, no rule of law , neither so called Sharia nor modern western law. No body even respects constitutions. Dictators determine everything.

Then be realistic and differentiate sin and crime. Pre marital sex or clubbing or drinking with (mutual) consent and care may be a sin according to religion but it is not crime as you do not hurt any one . Both the partners or the individual enjoy and that's all. No damage, no harm and no bad consequences for individual, society or state.

Yes cheating, corruption, murders etc are crimes and must be condemned everywhere. In Muslim world the problem is that they focus more on sins than crimes or evils. Sharia is more about sins but not crimes or evils and that is why adultery is a big issue but adulteration is not.

West did not remain the only colonial power. Arabs, Turks and even Pashtuns colonized and robbed other lands. However West also did a lot as wee see in India, Pakistan, Australia, Latin America etc. Arabs only forced the people to convert but did not do any great thing for the development of the conquered areas.

But colonization is not the only secret of the present greatness of the West. Today's Portugal or even Spain are not big powers. Holland is also not a big power. UK has shrunken much. Almost centuries passed of their colonization and they lost what they brought. Now they are great because of rule of law, secularism and democracy not of their colonial past. Muslim world should learn from them. 1400 years of Sharia did not gave any thing to them.

Mostly agree wrora except muslims in the muslim world still do it. Even in Jalalabad i've seen friends of my family drink alcohol, in dubai they go clubbing and drink, saudi its harder but they still do drugs. but for the most part its those of us in the west unfortunately. I still say it has to do with the individual and maybe the government because i was watching this 5 year old news report on women in saudi arabia on saudi women stripping naked or dancing for web cams. If you have a tight government which restricts almost everything like KSA or pakistan do, then expect these kind of things to happen, especially in a country with tons of internet access.

This might be true but there are also several things to consider to not interpret these statistics in a wrong way.


1. People in the west are using proxies for various reasons.

People in Canada can watch pornography and it will be counted as Pakistan if you use a Pakistani proxy.


2. Muslim countries are the poorest and there are many tribes and people like Afghans and bedouines in the desert who don't have any access to pornography because there is no internet at all.


3. Muslims are the only people in this world with american fundamentalist christians who are calling for the ban of pornography. No one else cares. And when they want to do it like in Syria now, they are getting killed and called fascists by people who live in Muslim countries.


4. Not everyone in muslim countries is a Muslim. The muslim world is filled with millions and millions of Atheists and hypocrites. Just look at Pashtunforums. These people would call themselves (and be considered) Muslims in real life because they fear rejection of the majority.


5. People who look at pornography are people who don't have sex. Those who are promiscuous don't look at pornography, they simply go to clubs and have sex. Poland is the most catholic state in Europe and ranks very high according to the same reports. Same about Mormon states in America.

These people have existed since the dawn of Islam on mankind and the revitalization of Islam by the Nabi. The only difference between then and now was that the Muslims back then achieved far more than the Muslims of today. We still have strong believers but we don't have trend setting scholars, scientists, explorers, generals, sociologists, doctors, and the like which we still read about today and respect. There were always kafirs and murtads in the past but their beliefs are now socially and financially supported by the west which makes them more of a threat now than in the past.
