If all the quotes attributed to Hazrat Ali are complied, it will be as though the man started talking the second he was born and he kept talking even a decade after his death.

Most of them have no real source.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

            No, I am not Shia.

I follow hanafi schools in fiqh and a mixture of Maturidi, Ashari, Athari and sufi on matters of Aqeeda.

Indeed Ali (ra) was a very knowledgeable man, some of the things Shias attribute to him are obviously forgeries and inacurate though.

The prophet (saw) said "I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate". Bukhari.

unfortunately, the sources of his sayings have not been scrutinized like hadith so its almost impossible to know if these are legit. even more unfortunate is that people will politicize him.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

              Sayyid Qutb

Can you give us some details that how ahadith were collected and scrutinized?
When was the first collection of hadthis collected?

After how many centuries millions of words of the Prophet were recorded, written, compiled and scrutinized?

How could such millions of words recorded without the modern facilities of recording and preservation in a time when even pen and paper were not easily available, forget about type writers and computers.

The matter of Quran is different as it was compiled during Prophet's time.

My approach towards golden sayings, quotations including Hadith is to take it what it says, as advice, words of wisdom not basis of law

This doesn't make sense to me. What should the basis of law be? Idiocy?

Wisdom by its nature is timeless and the truth. I am sure the law based on wisdom is better than law based on circumstancial evidence and whims of the general public.

I believe the reason for the downfall of civilizations is the fact the too many technocrats take over and sideline the wise men. Those leaders who are not wise or do not have guidance from a wise person lead the whole nation to distruction.

Golden sayings cannot be made as basis of laws as laws are formulated by legislators in parliaments. You cannot make penal, criminal and civil codes based on some quotation of a wise man.

Look at what happened to Muslims to base their laws on hadiths who are words of the prophet collected after many centuries after his death and then innocent people are stoned to death or millions of women are secluded and kept like prisoners in 4 walls of houses. Religion is for faith not for law.

Philosopher king was a theory of Plato but in practice this is politician who does everything. States, societies and individuals are in the hands of politicians not even political scientists.
