please do explain, what exactly is the compatibility between science and religion? leaving evolution aside for the time being

  • #2
most of your threads belong in the religion section. just a heads up, chica.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I wanted to start a thread on this theme after having some discussion on my thread Reason versus Religion. I am happy you took the lead.

I do not think there is any connection between religion including Islam and science. Both have totally different approaches, scope, domain, sphere of influence and goals.

Religion is based on revelation from a supernatural entity or entities while science is based on senses and experiment. Science is verifiable and its laws(natural sciences) are equally applicable every where. Two molecules of Hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen will always make water while there are huge differences in various religions of the world.

Goal of religion is faith, morality and worship and consequently success in life after death while science is mostly concerned about nature, physical and biological worlds and the betterment of this world not having place in paradise. Science does not focus on morality. A nuclear device can produce a bomb or nuclear energy by fusion or fission.

                      i agree too, wholeheartedly

personal evidence is subjective and hard to falsify; hard evidence is empirical and objective in aim. believing in something without any evidence personal or otherwise is blind faith, believing in something that cannot be proven outside of subjective or personal experience might not be rational but it happens, frequently. faith substantiated by personal experience is not fact, but it is a common position,

there is no strength in number when it comes to the veracity of truth, but absolute truth is ultimately illusive; i think there is an argument to be made for a differentiation between blind faith and faith based on subjective experiences

I wasn't here for the topic, i was here because of the several threads that were posted in the wrong section.

Blind faith arises because of authority. For examples a Muslim in God believes in God on the authority of his/her prophet, Qur'an, local Mullah, school teacher or parents. Majority do no have any personal experience or research or meditation to explore and discover a God. Others say there is a God and we endorse it. Only theologists may have discussions on ontology , teleology ,cause and efefct and other arguments to reach a God.

I think let the people enjoy their beliefs, modes of worship and religion may have some role in morality but science is the greatest benefactor of human kind. Science and religion are two parallel lines which never mix, never touch each other and have their own exclusive paths and goals.

Religion become destructive when it take shape of Islamism or Church of Middle Ages. Science become destructive when nuclear energy is used as bomb and not for generation of electricity.

Many of your posts don't make sense.
how can you leave evolution aside from it. Science has many theories including ones that says the belief in God is innate.

On one hand your calling yourself a muslim and then on the other you are criticising islam? Your a walking talking contradiction.
