Illumination comes at different levels, for example, the realization of Ibrahim AS after watching the Sun set. Initially he believed the Sun to be god, but after it's setting he realized that the sun can't be god since it over came by darkness.

His stupidity just goes in circles.

It's very clear that if God is using metaphors in a book intended for humans; NATURALLY humans will have the capacity to understand them because those metaphors were INTENDED for human understanding, otherwise it would serve no purpose to use them. The plain logical understanding of things is something that eludes him

Kais believes God accidentally gave humans brains, with the capacity to reason and figure stuff out; his idea of religion is that we stumble around aimlessly until we're told to do something, like sheep.

What I find very interesting is that the religious scripture of Bahai, Yazidi, and some works of the Ismailis are of mediocre and sometimes laughable standards in comparison to the eloquence of the Quran. The Quran came before and in a time when none of the information was available as it was to these groups. So even they tried they couldn't reproduce it, not even a single Surah. What they took is what they could decipher and failed to reproduce in a similar fashion.
