  • Why is life special?

Apart from already established theistic arguments, what other reasoning justify the importance of life? One reasoning is that living things have to value life because they are alive. A self-serving logic that sets a superficial precedent which an honest mind will realize as an shallow delusion....a lie, a selfish opinion of the weak that refuses to accept the ineluctable truth, their eventual demise.

Another reasoning is that life is special because of it's inherit desire to spread, to survive, to evolve....to continue to exist adapting even the harshest of environments. Trillions upon trillions of cells race and compete in order to create conscious beings out of once dead matter that can think and perceive.

    ^Though that...indicts drive, insinuates purpose.....NO?

other than that we are no different from bacteria despite the complexity of our makeup.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Life is a book: the all-mighty is the author and humans are the antagonists and protagonists.

We live life as it was already written. The special part of it is that no one but god knows what happens on the next paragraph/page/chapter. You just play your part.

I know my answer probably has nothing to do with your question. I just felt like saying my opinion.

All is welcome, in fact you raise a very interesting point i.e. everything is written and God knows whats going to happen.

Recently some scientists and mathematicians are suggesting to look at time in a linear fashion. That there is no past, present or future. Everything has happened, is happening and all at once. So if you were above time, you could see everything from the start to the end. Things only change at different points and from different directions,

        like a 3D holograph:

So in other words we are all already dead, gone to whatever end deserving. This is all an infinite chance to correct whatever that might needs to be corrected. Thus explains the Deja-Vu phenomena.

But what if all these lives were expressions of a single source? With the admission that multi-dimensions might exist, there is another copy of this world where that kid from the slums in your place wrote the above message about you in his place.

is there death or only transformation? if everyhing is said to be energy and energy does not die, what do you mean by death? and life as 'special' in comparison to what?
according to science, cells leave and are reformed within our 'physical' body, each continuously. in that sense, we are always living and dying.
time being simultaneous allows one to change ones, so called, past. the point of power is now.

I think the answers are inherently philosophical. I've highlighted the bits that I'm not sure about.

Trees - some of which live hundreds of years old and are composed of trillions upon trillions of cells 'competing' to reproduce and stay alive are not conscious in the same way as you and I. What motivates them to stay alive may be similar to what motivates humans to stay alive, but life has little to do with thinking. Consider an amoeba.

The Earth is said to be about 4.3/4.5 billions of years old and life is said to have appeared about 4.2 billions of years old because our planet is in the 'just right' Goldilocks zone. Either we are a fluke, or we arose out of the 'just right' conditions or there is a grand design with a higher consciousness at the heart of it.

Thanks Faye. We are after all made up of recycled material.

                      Life consists of three days

Yesterday : What has gone,is in our memories.
Today : What is happening now and you are actively participating to it.
                      and finally
Tomorrow : That which will come and you have to confront,it can be anything it can be described in maths with an "x" but you can awaite certain results of certain actions.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

                          Life can only be...special.

When you start to live it in a humble...way.

                          Learning to really understand..others.

I think life can only be...special

                          once the soul..is contempt.

                          As the soul...never dies.
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument.

david bohm, of the hologram theory, also has some good ideas about the theory of consciousness. the importance of our thinking, in relationship to 'matter' and humanities belief in the dividedness of reality, that are an illusion.
by correcting our mode of thinking and recognise the interconnection of all matter, we would be able to create peace and harmony within this realm.
everything is constantly in motion, including the evolution of consciousness.

Life is special because we all have a purpose for being alive..
All of us are here for a reason and we must find it,
just most of us do not know what the purpose is..
