    HS,
Your wrong, In pakistan it is very dangerous to admit one is an atheist. If what you claim is correct than it would not be dangerous.
You dont know what you are talking about.

      What a load of BS.

Poland, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland are more religious than USA

There is no doubt that atheism and agnosticism are on the rise in Pakistan. And there are a number of reasons for it ranging from the portrayal of the negative image of Islam due Taleban's medieval acts and thinking to access to true information about religion , global exposure, expansion of scientific thinking, etc.

Then why dont you publicly declare that your an atheist then for that matter why does no one declare to be one. The day you can come out of the closet is the day it will start rising.

Pakistan is a bit civilized than Kandahar and most of the time they wouldn't chop your head off for the mere reason that you have a different explanation of things than theirs.

Yes, I remember this guy---that is why I used the qualifier "most of the time". Despite, the occasional bigotry, liberals and conservative live harmoniously in Pakistan unlike Kandahar where your one-eyed Mullah Omar and his gang of wild wild fanatics can roast you alive for mere expression of trivial free thought.

But no one can be as self-deceiving as some West-bred Afghans who think that every Muslim on earth is the follower of Mullah Omar----who in fact is a canon fodder for Pakistanis---

Do research Mazhar Ali Khan, a Pakistani atheist, a journalist... don't know how he survived in an intolerant society such as ours for so long being an atheist. Another atheist is Anwar Shaikh. He has many fatwas on his head for leaving his religion and resides in Britain. He murdered Sikhs in his early life.

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anwar_Shaikh

                          Another one. Kumail Nanjiani

Do watch out for my next article. I was planning to contact some Pakistani atheists for it and asking them how much of a role the taliban and militancy has in their decision to quit Islam.

My point is not whether Atheism is a major force or not. It is simply that trying to impose religion or forcing it down the throats of others leads exactly to the opposite of what Islamists seek to achieve (making people follow Islam). Instead it makes people lose faith in Islam itself.

I believe you disagree with my point. That my friend is your choice. I can do nothing about the intolerance breeding within our people's minds.
Oye oye oye. More pseudo-intellectualism from the "liberated" liberals in Pakistan. I have gone through those websites and none, absolutely none, have any hint of logic or reason. Can't argue with any of them since they - just like religious evangelists - use circular logic and claim to know everything about every field of knowledge currently known to man. If the neo-atheists are what you say there are, they are reactionaries - just like aqueda and the talibs. Probably worse, reactionaries to reactionaries. They are political constructs responding to a crisis which they cannot comprehend or understand. I actually feel sorry for them. Responding to current, temporary events to make a life decision is the definition of nonsense. They live off of being possible martyrs of liberalism, appealing to the white-man to rescue them and providing insights of the natives.

As a liberal and a person who claims to represent logic, you should know that anecdotes DO NOT make for a argument. In addition to that, you should comprehend the political circumstances as to how and why such creatures come out of the woodwork. There is a lot of money to make these days in "taking on" Islam. No different than the supposed (and exposed as fake) ex-muslims. Take for example that anwar shaikh character, who claims to have killed sikhs during partition. Why he hadn't come out and said that before 9/11 is beyond me? Also particularly interesting is that he would have had to been a toddler when he supposedly went out to kill sikhs. Not denying that sikhs (and muslims) were killed during partition. But it's obvious that it's a money-making business for these fools. You should read into the claims more before taking them at face value. They are part of a fake movement which says the muslims are the aggressors, which is a patently false narrative.

Atheists and agnostics have been there throughout history. I myself am essentially an agnostic, but a muslim agnostic just because being muslim as a modern construct means more than everyone contemplating about the existence of god or no god. It also means culture, history, language, nation, family, etc...There is so such thing as "quitting" anything. I keep my personal beliefs private mostly because i doubt anyone gives (or should give) a flying sack about what i think about life's questions. I expect atheists and secularists to keep their ideologies to themselves just like they expect everyone else to keep theirs to themselves. To be an agnostic or atheist as a reaction to modern-day happenings would be illogical.
