Retro you have sometimes a tendency to make untrue remarks although I find most of your posts about history and genetics interesting but no, Turks are nowhere more conservative than Arabs. I don't know who told you that. Firstly they are not as conservative Muslims and secondly that have been exposed to secularism since 1920 when Kemal Ataturk (the most famous non-Western secularist) came to power. Everyone should know this if they are interested in history as much as I feel you are.

Turkey is an secular state as they get in the Muslim world. In fact there is not a more secular Muslim state than Turkey. Most girls don't even wear a Hijab.

Turks are very conservative people and in the past Turkey was extremely autocratic and backward Islamic country. It's a mistake to confuse secularism with western liberalism. Ataturk's goal was to modernise and Turkey and orient it towards the west. Which to be fair to a limited extent he did.
