  • EDUCATIVE: Islamic Monotheism and other Principles

as salaamu aleikoum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Let as pay attention to the starting point of Islam rather than focussing on trivial issues such as rulings regarding minor issues.

Let is see how much knowledge we have on who Allah is, and what he is like.

    Let's begin with Uloohiyyah!

Explain in your own words ( about 300 words+/-)
    - what Uloohiyyah means,
    - and how you understand uloohiyyah
    - and what falls under uloohiyyah.

This should be a good starting point for all members to refresh their memory and learn about their lord.

Please refrain from copying and pasting from other websites. The purpose of this thread is to learn. So write things down in our own words. You may use a book to read and learn and then summarize it in your own words.

My reply to my dear Sangars thread

            :
Ulooohiyyah in my opinion that tells us to not do shirk. It tells us God does not have any brothers, sisters, cousins or anything. He is alone and has no business partners. Ulohiyyah also further clarifies that he is only worthy to be praised. No to Idol-worshipping and no to prophet worshipping like some Shias do. It also further creates a strong bond between US and Allah.
The answer is not correct. You've mentioned many things of which some are related to uloohiyyah. But your answer is not correct. Try harder.

I think in arabic we also call it:

              TAWHEED.
Wahid meaning "one" and tawheed in general meaning the act of having one, believing in the oneness of Allah swt.

I know there are 6 important parts to Tawheed (or uloohiyyah) which are: shahada, belief in the Angels, belief in the Messengers, belief in al Qadar, believe in Divine Scriptures and belief in the day of judgment. These are mentioned in Surah Baqarah 280-282. To believe in all of these, creates a firm believe in the oneness of Allah swt. It was also mentioned when the Angel Gibreel came in the form of a man to visit the Prophet pbuh when he was sitting with his ummah, and when this strange disguised man arrived, he asked Muhammed pbuh about Islam. Our beloved Prophet pbuh did mention these 6 qualities in this hadith.

The belief in the oneness of Allah swt has 3 components:
              1) belief in Him as the Rabb (Lord, Creator, Commander)
              2) Servitude to Allah swt
              3) Attributes to the names of Allah swt

If I am on the right track to your question...I would gladly keep going.

You are messing things up too. For the most part of your answer you explained 6 pillars of Imaan (faith). Not Tawheed. And neither Uloohiyyah.

                Again, try harder.

Let's allow other members to have a go and see if anyone else knows the correct answer. There are plenty others who have not replied to this thread yet. I am not going to post the correct answer now. I'll just wait for maybe a day or so. Unless somebody posts the correct answer before that, obviously.

I am not much of an Islamic scholar, but its regarding the oneness of Allah. It tells us to abide by the conceived fact that there is only one God, and believing in it is highly important.

Two previous attempts were wrong. And they said something similar to what you are saying. So...

Btw: you don't have to be a scholar to know this.

I will give you all a small hint: What is Salaah?
