I only call myself muslim thats it, dont want to risk creating divisions, because God will most likely punish those people who create divisions. If only 1 out of 73 sects/divisions of Islam will go to heaven, i can bet it is the one who calls themselves "muslim" not all these other man made groups

          Honestly?

I don't know if there is a school of thought that matches my thinking.

My interest lies in depth psychology, so I am familiar with western thinkers in this field.

I suppose you mean what "sect" or denomination of Islam.

I find this habit of modern day muslim's trivial and a bit redundant. Anyone who believes and worships the One True God has half the faith of a muslim. Only after he follows the teachings of His last messenger would his shahada (witnessing) be complete. All schools of thoughts that emphasize on one kernel of truth are ideologues in essence. So anyone who commits to one school of thought enters into a hermetical discourse that produces one-sided tautologies.

You could claim to be a hanafi...but hardly many of you know what aqaaid do hanafis differ from shafi or maliki or even jaffari. Or even have an appreciation for the quality of those differences, if there be any.

You need not worry about such things.

            ^ agree 100%

I still dont understand why (modern muslims) are so bent on dividing each other more and more. There are some muslims i know who can't go a day with out saying something bad about some other sect/division with in sunni Islam

Its such a huge problem, yet most muslims choose to ignore this, in fact they often encourage division. The dont see that evil/sin behind this, they are blind.

they are not schools of thought.
Madhabs are based on aqaid. I agree with the Aqaid (Creed) of all the madhabs and don't make any distinction between them as long as they are in congruence with the Qur'an.

                  Deobandis are not a madhab.
                  They are ideologues.
You don't even know the difference between madhab and ideologies and you are here to wag your finger at me? So if I am not berelevi, ahl u hadith, salafi or deobandi then I am wrong?
No. It is you all who are wrong. There is no place for ideology in Islam. I could even make the argument that any form of ideology is shirk!

When deobandi "imams" were caught in India taking bribe money for issuing fatwas, it was made obvious that they are a misguided lot that appeal to mass sentiments. Their fatwa factories have zero credibility.

the late Dr. Sir Shaikh Mohammad lqba!-and it be seemed him alone-had spoken about Deobandism! When someone asked him, "What thing is the Deobandi, a creed or a sect"? He replied: "It's neither a creed nor a sect; Deobandi is the name of every rationalist religious man".

Any whabbi or salafi can also make the claim that they are also hanafi.

And any whabbi or salafi can also make the claim that you are far from islam and have a tendency for shirk and kufr....in fact this is what they are most famous for.

                      Salam

The madhhabs (schools of jurisprudence/law) are four: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi`i, and Hanbali. The vast majority of Afghans are Hanafi. A madhhab is simply a system of codification of the Shari`a. Muslims follow madhhabs because not everyone can be a scholar. Legal rulings are derived from the Qur'an and Sunna by the scholars of the madhhabs. Non-scholars follow these scholars.

All four madhhabs are valid. They are not a source of division. Muslims respect all four madhhabs and consider them valid ways of following the sunna.

Barelwis and Deobandis are both Hanafis. They differ with each other on some non-essential issues. Unfortunately certain factors have caused great division between these two groups. Afghans should not allow these divisions to affect Afghanistan. Afghans are neither Barelwi nor Deobandi. We should stick to our own great tradition of scholarship while at the same time promoting unity between these two groups.

this is like asking what color are your eyes. just take solace in the fact that you have eyes in the first place.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

                            Alchemist chan ,

i was talking about the four madhab , the schools of fiqh
it is not necessary to belong to one , but you said they don't match with your thinking and if any says this verily he has deviant thinking that are far away from ahlus sunnah.
