considering that Khadijah's and prophet(pbuh) was a love marriage i dont know how can it be haram, but then again mullahs/imams have their own view on many things
What is love marriage? Is it the kind of relationship that has been started with haram doings, then yes, its not permitted. If it was based on mutual feelings towards one another, having both families involved in forming a potential marriage between the man and woman, with in the grounds of the adab of Islam, then it is permitted.

Coming from our cultural perspective though, 'love marriage' is not considered a good thing, and if anything its considered 'sharm' (shameful) and disrespectful towards both families. Because in places like Afghanistan, females and males are never mixed, unless they are family. And even then, majority of relatives are not mixed due to the line of still being distant and possible for marriage. So if a love marriage occurred between the guy and girl, there are misconceptions of them having a haram relationship.
From the couples I've seen, love or arrange marriage you can't tell the difference anymore after first five years
People first of all don't even know what the heck love is and they make up lame excuses for themselves that they will keep everything "halal" however it doesn't work that way so in that context nah love before marriage in most cases leads to stuff thats better left for after marriage.. So Mullah Talal Canedvi says it's haram
whatever floats your boat khoray. some people find satisfaction through an arranged process, while others happen to find and fall in love with their partner
i fell in love with mine, courted her, dated her, then brough the parents in to legitimize it under our cultural mores, and inshallah will be doing a nikaa soon. Then again, this is the perspective of the diaspora.
if i was still back home, i wouldve been weded to my cousin 10 yrs ago.
Love marriage from a historical point of view was when you saw a beautiful women drawing water from a well as was the case in our culture etc and you fell in love with her beauty straight away and therefore got your family/parents to ask for her hand in marriage. This was classed as a love marriage. Today love marriage cannot be defined in this way. in fact a love marriage is when you actually date the girl prior to marrying her and this is not allowed in islam.
Arranged marriage is when both the girl and guy see each other and both families meet and agree upon a union this is an arranged marriage and this is what islam permits. Seeing the women or man before marriage is very important in order to avoid complications later in marriage.
A sahaba came to the prophet s.a.w and said i want marry a women from such and such a tribe. The prophet s.a.w replied have you seen the girl? The sahaba replied oh messenger of Allah i have not seen the girl but i have heard she is very respectable and from a good family but how can i see her. i have no idea?
The prophet s.a.w replied the women of that tribes draw water every morning from a near by well. so at that time be there but hide behind a tree so that you may see her. This was their respect when selecting their partners.
A forced marriage is when the girl and guy or one of them have been wed without their consent. This type of marriage is also not allowed in islam.
A women came to the prophet s.a.w and said that my father married me off without my permission what is the ruling on this? The prophet s.a.w replied this marriage is void unless you allow it to be. She replied I am happy in my marriage oh prophet of Allah but i wanted to make it clear to the people that women have a right to say yes or no.
